The skylights were installed and they look great. They appear to be good quality and fill up the space nicely. They are apparently highly sought after since 2 of them were stolen from my garage shortly after delivery, therefore, I had to buy more.

Conflicted
I have put in a few Velux skylights, but I thought I would give Fakro a try. The interior finish is much nicer than Velux. Solid thick un finger jointed frames, perfect straight grain fir, really nice, and easily 2x thicker than Velux. Better condensation gutters. Better installation, complete with a sweet template to make cutting RO a breeze.
Only reservation is the finish on the roof, not that anyone cares. There is a rubber Gasket on the bottom that looks like it is begging to be covered by a sheetmetal flashing, but fakro assured me it is to be exposed. So only downside to Velux is the finish on the roof.
I will likely buy Fakro over Velux going forward, but we shall see how they hold up.

So far, so good...
We had the professionals install 2 of these skylights last month (April 2014) when they were putting on our new roof, so we cannot speak as to the ease of installation, but we can say that they look fine, and have withstood a few strong storms intact and with no leaks. We are looking forward to seeing how the summer goes, but think these will cut down on the heat and hot spots because they have the low-e glass and our old ones did not. There are two things I would change: to have white trim around the interior, rather than the beige almond color that it comes with and to have pan flashing which our contractor strongly suggested instead of the separate flashing kit (all one piece to guard against leaks, plus easier to install, plus lower cost). That being said, they are good skylights and we wouldn't want to be without them as they really brighten up the house and are good for a happy mood because they let nice natural light in.
