Installed many of these with no problems. Some people complain about 400 to 500 pounds of mortar required to and install the tub that is incorrect. Most tubs need a mortar base to have more solid feel. I personally put mortar under all tubs. Some people say its thin. ALL tubs are manufactured in this manner now. Not a problem after they are installed CORRECTLY it does not matter. I installed the last one by myself perfectly level with stringers installed. So glad they are not cast iron any longer. Yes needs specific drain but that allows the deepest possible water depth in the industry. I read all the low reviews and it's my opinion that these were installed by homeowners that don't know what they are doing.

I love my new deep soaking tub! My previous tub was a shallow cast iron tub that was installed when my house was built in 1968. Although sturdy, it was not comfortable at all, holding about 9 inches of water (before overflow) and a straight uncomfortable back. My new deep soaking tub lets me take a nice relaxing deep bath. I like the arm rests and the slanted back rest too.. My contractor didn't seem to have any problems installing it and it looks great!

I was excited about getting a new soaking tub, however I totally regret this purchase and the money it cost to install it. Since it was a special order there was no way to examine it closely until I picked it up and then I didn't think to consider the problems I faced with this tub. 1. due to the design you lose 12" of the inner tub so it is actually only 4' not 5 as expected. This is due to the overflow on the top rather than the inner walls of the tub and the curving of the back side and the wide rims around the outside of the tub. While having overflow on the top of the tub rather than the tub wall is a great idea, surely there is a way to do that without sacrificing leg room. 2. I would really like to know why they chose to mold the back of it as they did? You can't recline comfortably but need to sit up. 3 the curved arms make it narrow in the center and very difficult to have enough room to maneuver to get out of the tub. 4. they don't tell you that you need to buy a longer than standard tub spout, because of the design of the overflow. I am very sorry I got this.

Same shape as the version that houses jetted version. A lot of room is lost, at the back, as a result. I'm 5'9". Sitting with my butt against the back, my feet were upright at the front. The angle of recline was so upright I couldn't sink down to enjoy the vaunted depth of the water, which had been my biggest requirement. The tub was in, plumbing checked & wall half reconstructed. I took a test bath before the green board went in. Thank God! We spent the next day undoing everything & pulling out the tub. THAT'S HOW UNCOMFORTABLE IT WAS! I returned tub, drain & surround to Home Depot & am waiting for a different tub to arrive. I will not leave the store until I've had the opportunity to sit in it. Just a warning to others, since these days we can't sit in a tub until it arrives: check the angle of recline on your prospective tubs. It's called different things & it's not listed in some specs. Call the manufacturer to find out! My new tub has a 34 degree angle. The old one was 15. Fortunately, Home Depot's return policy was great, so I ordered through them for the new tub.

If your tall and medium sizes please dont purchase this tub. I was veey excited about the tub, and once it was installed, i took a bath and half of my body dont fit, and the side is close. Im 5'11, and about 234 pounds. For the price this tub is not worth it. Very disappointed.

I was very excited when my tub arrived but soon was disappointed. This tub is the exact one they use for their whirlpool tub but without jets. It has a cheap, flimsy plastic access panel on the front. They also attached a 5/8 OSB to the bottom for the non existant motor. The tub is shorter due to the space left for again the non existant motor. American Standard needs to up their game by making this tub just a soaker

Great tub, perfect depth for soaking

Beautiful I was confused on why they made the opening for underneath on the right side though instead of by faucet hookups.

I’m very happy with the width and depth of the tub. The sides have a slant to them, so they are not good for holding anything. And I have been having trouble with the overflow leaking as a result of delamination on the outside. Overall, I am very happy with my tub!

We love this tub! It is a nice, deep soaking tub and we love the interior hourglass shape! Please be aware that you need to purchase the American Standard 1-in Solid Color Foot Lock Drain with Brass Pipe Item #588244Model #1599.205.011, as this is made specifically for this tub. This is roughly a $115 item. The tub measures very slightly more than 60” long, which was an issue for us to install our tub in our 60” long space. That being said, we are DIYers and I’m sure a professional would probably know tricks to fit the tub in w/out hassle. The tub gave us a great spa like feel to our bathroom and if we were to do it over again, I would definitely choose the same tub!

The tub was lovely and I was very excited about having it installed, unfortunately I was not able to do that because of circumstances beyond my control. I hope to have another house shortly where I can get it installed. Thank you

This tub is beautiful and it shipped faster than expected by about 10 days. But there is no protective sheet to cover the tub and remove once your bathroom is done being renovated like other tubs. Since you have to install the tub before you put up cement board, water proofing, mortar, tile, and then finally grout the tub will not be brand new and shiny when you are done. It needs a protective sheet like other manufacturers use. The plastic bag it comes in, inside the box does not serve the same purpose.

Unit runs quite, installation pretty straight forward. The face panel doesn’t stay affixed well when only using the Velcro provided. I added a bit of silicone to keep it flush with tub.

Nice tub for the alcove installation and 6’ size limit. Well worth the extra you pay.

Air volume control knob is really cheaply made but easy to repair.

I do love the design of this tub but, I was surprised to discover a paint run in the front panel. Why didn’t your quality control catch this

the tub drain was off center and either damaged or just done incorrectly. Home Depot was of no help and made the return miserable.

Met needs. Some spots look weak but functional without issues.

The tub is deep but has flaws in design. Poor overflow seal and weak spots in fiberglass reinforcment. Ours cracked AFTER install, without any mishandling of the tub. There was a spot with no fiberglass, only gel coat. After it was installed, we decided to return it and get a different tub.

Perfect fit in existing alcove, snap to plumb!

The words "strength and durability" should not be used to describe this tub. I've had it less than a year and it has scratches, dents, cracks. Not sure if it leaks from those but I cant believe they are already there and visible. This replaced a tub from the 80s and that was more durable. Its amazing how unreliable this material is and how its not durable at all. I would never buy acrylic/fiberglass again. The only reason I gave this 2 starts is its deep and comfortable and I'm 6'1.
