Filters have been out of stock
My husband bought this model a few months ago. All was good until I needed a new filter. They are out of stock and have told me on several occasions it would be available in a couple of weeks. Well it has not been so now I’m stuck with this expensive humidifier that I can’t use. I have to purchase another and it will NOT be from Vornado.

    Stopped Working
After two weeks stopped providing a mist to the room. Room certainly is at a low humidity given the extreme cold and dry air outside in the New England winter and house has forced hot air heat. Reservoir is full of water and installed correctly. Set to max humidity level. Water panel on the inside is clean. Water reservoir never drains down and there is not mist even in the highest setting. Two week sold - buy a different brand.

      Vornado 1-Gallon Tabletop Evaporative Humidifier
Very effective during winter months when air is super dry. Have used this humidifier for 3 years with no problems.Easy switch on/off. Placed in the hallway during sleeping hours and there's no dry coughs during the night.

Just what I needed for bedroom
This is my first humidifier and I love it. Great for the bedroom at night. High is pretty loud and low is nice. I agree with the others about the con of not being able to set it down when filling it, and difficult opening the container sometimes. I'm going to order larger ones for around the rest of the house.

That was wasted money. That thing is not able to bring the humidity up from 25% to 30% in 12 hours. The room size was 220 square feet. I changed the wick and tried again. It did not work.

Wish I had read the reviews before I purchased it
The best part of this machine is the air circulation fan. Everything else is not so great. It's loud, hard to tell when the water is low, and hard to fill the reservoir. I use it in my bedroom and, as other reviewers have commented, it's noisy. I cannot sleep with it on "high" or "auto" settings because the noise is too jarring. On the "low" setting it's bearable, similar to white noise. Although it looks great, it's not doing the job I wanted it to. Because of the high price, I'm just going to use it until it breaks down, but I won't buy another one.

              I would not buy again
product is only a little over a year old and is broken already. won't put out any moisture and rattles extremely loud.

Electronic control problems with 2 units
I have two of these units which I use to supplement two other small humidifiers in a room with musical instruments, primarily for when I'm away for extended periods. The other units are on timers, so they cycle on/off periodically. I use the two Vornados to supplement if the room humidity drops below 40%. They can't be used on timers because if you power off from a timer, they don't come back on when the timer powers up. I share other commenters posts about unnecessary difficulty in filling the tanks and putting the caps back on. However, my real problem is with the electronic controls/sensors. On the first unit, most of the blue LEDs stopped working. I thought the unit had failed completely. Then I realized that the LEDs had failed on the 40% Humidity/Auto settings. This unit still works, but it's difficult to tell whn the settings are correct because of other LEDs being out. The second unit failed today. It appears that the logic function or the sensor has "lost its mind". It won't stay on one setting and unpredictable cycles itself through the power/fan/humidity level settings. It unpredictably powers itself off and on. It unpredictably cycles between low and high fan speeds. I tried unplugging it for several minutes to remove power to (hopefully) reset its logic, but it hasn't worked. It's still unpredictable. Due to the price, and the fact that I've had problems with the electronic controls of 2 units, I probably wouldn't purchase another one. If Vornado has replacement parts/instructions, then I might be willing to try to fix them, but not if I have to send them back, or if the replacement parts are too expensive.

                    Don't buy this
This product hasn't humidified my room at all. And it's so loud. What a waste of money. I bought a much cheaper honeywell humidifier (only 35 bucks) and within the dry air the Vornado product failed to temper, the little cheap product humidified and I slept so much better and didn't wake up with a scratchy throat. Did I mention it's so loud! And the filters are an added headache. But I live in NYC, so the water here is top notch.

                      GOOD HUMIDIFIER FOR THE MONEY
GOOD HUMIDIFIER. EASIER TO FILL IF YOU PUT FLAT SIDE AGAINST THE SINK. DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE COMPLETELY OUT TO LIFT TO SEE IF YOU NEED TO ADD WATER. EASY TO CLEAN.

This humidifier works great! With the auto feature, the humidifier runs only when it is needed. Further, this model does not spew bacteria in the air as noted by Consumer Reports. I have had this humidifier for a week and I have used half the amount of water my old ultrasonic used with BETTER results and NO algae! Only cons I can think of is placing the reservoir back can be tricky but not as complicated as other people claim it to be and the base seems weak compared to other humidifiers I have seen. Overall this is a good unit and worth the price.

                          ok, would not recommend it
Pros: --humidifies my bedroom really well, i don't wake up with a dry nose or mouth --controls easy to follow --doesn't leave any water on the floor or other surfaces, very clean Cons: --very difficult to open the top in order to add water --can't set water tank down when refilling water so gets really heavy to hold --finicky when replacing the filled water tank in the unit --the water tank is a dark blue, so it's not very easy to tell if you need water --kinda noisy at night, i have to keep it at LOW instead of auto because the auto setting turns on loudly and it would wake me up

Certainly not an easy to open and fill product.
Cannot unscrew cap without a lobster cracker...difficult to fill....will throw it out right after this season is over...will not even give it to an ememy!!! Not made for anyone who does not have extra strong hands!!!

                              Love our Vornado Evap2
My boyfriend and I moved from Portland, OR to Los Angeles, CA a couple years ago and needless to say it's been a lot drier here than we were used to. Once the winter hit and we needed to turn on the heater, our apartment was drier than ever and we were both waking up in the morning with severely dry sinuses. Of the humidifier options available in my price range, the Vornado Evap2 seemed like it was engineered to do a good job of projecting the moisture up into the air, nor need to be refilled every 6-8 hours. We've been really happy with its performance, the inexpensive replacement filters and the ease of cleaning. My one complaint is that there's no way to get the top cover off to clean the fan which does get awfully dusty (like all fans do). Additionally, Vornado's customer service was great just a few weeks ago honoring their 5 Year Warranty even though I'd lost my purchase receipt.

                                Not very good
This is not a bad product, just a few design flaws that really bring this humidifier down. I like Vornado's whole room circulation which is a main reason for me purchasing this product. The issues I have is with the water tank. The bottom of the tank is to flat which causes issues with cleaning and emptying. Because the tank does not drain/empty completely the residual water left promotes bacteria and mold growth. The plastic tank is not very sturdy. When setting the tank down on the kitchen counter the plastic cracked almost in half. The tank was not dropped, even if it was the plastic tank should've been sturdier. Worse, there seems to be no replacement tanks available anywhere, even on the Vornado website. Now that the tank is cracked the whole piece of equipment is useless. Basically I have to purchase another humidifier.

Poor design feature, can't easily fill the water tank
The water chamber is designed in such a way as to make it extremely difficult to fill. The "handle" that you carry it by, let's call it the "top," is rounded so when you turn it upside down to take the cap off to fill the chamber, you can't put it down in the sink. It would fall over. You can balance the empty chamber by holding it with one hand while you remove the cap and turn on the water. But then you have to hold the chamber with two hands while it fills. When it's full, even if you don't feel strongly about turning off the water, but just pull the chamber out from under the faucet, you still have to hold it balanced on the rounded handle with one hand while you grab the cap with the other hand, to screw it back on. I can't help but wonder, did anyone test fill it before they froze the design? I definitely would not have bought it if I had known.

                                  Excellent buy for the money!
The humidifier was easy to use. Contrary to what others have been saying regarding the water level being hard to see, I have no problem in determining where the water level is. If I can't tell just by glancing, I would go over and tilt the humidifier and you can see the water level move, or shine a light at it. Using the low setting keeps the humidity at the desired level after the initial setup. Refill the container about once a day.

I get angry every single day when I add water.
The unit looks great. But it was designed with concern only for appearance, not for use. Refilling the water supply is unnecessarily difficult- it cannot be placed down on a flat surface when under the faucet --it has to be held, and even worse, the heavy unit has to be held next to the chest in order to close the unit. The part that is on top when assembled should be FLAT,not rounded. It spills on me and on the floor when I carry it back to the room.. I cannot fill it in the bathroom or tub, I have to take it to the kitchen.

This product greatly improved the quality of air and reduced allergen’s
This product is aesthetically pleasing and functional. I like the fact you are not required to purchase water treatment additives, or cleaning solutions sold through the manufacture. The filter will need to be replaced; but it can be cleaned using bleach at least once before having to purchase another filter therefore extending the use and spending less money in the long run.

It is a little noisy in my bedroom, but moving the control from AUTO to LOW speed while I sleep fixes that. It was also difficult to spin open the reservoir cap until I started rubbing a little oil (cooking not petroleum) on the white gasket every third or fourth refill. This is my second heating season and I remain totally satisfied with it. I finally need to buy replacement media, so that even lasted well.

Costs a bit more because it's better!
It's that time of year and adding humidity to the air makes a real difference in your comfort, especially sleeping. I gave up on ultrasonic humidifiers LONG ago because I can hear them (yes, my hearing is that good) and they annoy me, and so does the moistened area around the device and the white mineral dust. They don't last and don't do a very good job, even if the water does get used up. Heated mist ones are fine if you like things wetted, but are really for sick people and short term use, aimed at the patient and meticulously sanitized. Twenty years ago, the idea of powered evaporative humidification just made sense, but most of the devices were too small to last a day or too large to place. This Vornado Evap2 is unique. It is a decent reservoir sized unit that has the footprint of barely more than a little ceramic heater! Since the form factor is vertical, there are a couple of benefits. First of all, you can put this on the floor, which I recommend you do, at one side of the room, aiming the tilted top towards the center of the ceiling. This will give you the added benefit of GENTLY creating a circulation in the room to pull the moist cooler air on the floor up and push down the warmer air at the ceiling. You'll be a bit warmer, breathe better and not have a humidity concentrated area. Because of its height, most people will be able to operate the buttons without stooping over nearly to the floor, a godsend for folks with bad backs. I don't need to squat to operate or fill the unit. Filling is the only thing about the design I'm not keen on. This reservoir can be filled in the kitchen but not the bathroom sink. If this is for your bedroom or master suite, that's somewhat inconvenient. Also, it's very awkward to hold the reservoir and there are no truly flat surfaces, so you can't just stand it up after filling. When you refill, you are committed to starting and completing only that task and no other in the process. You CAN remove and reinstall the fill cap if you have arthritis. It is palm-grippable, and it only take about 1/3 turn off and on, and you'll feel a positive soft "click." I have NOT had any of the problems with getting the reservoir out and back in that others have. Once you practice a couple times, it's literally a snap, and I can just "key" it in on the bottom and let go and it pops right into place. This machine is QUIET on low speed, understandably loud on high speed. I wish there was a medium speed, but Vornado doesn't do that on humidifiers. The gurgle from water coming out of the is soft and muffled compared to every other humidifier, including Vornados, that I've owned. Looks snappy, absolutely puts moisture in the air in a decent sized room, and once it blasts through the first couple of fills it should make it a day per fill on low speed in a closed large room and you'll barely notice it operating. Easy enough to clean, moves air, quiet, really humidifies and you can get at the motor to lubricate it a couple times a year to make it last beyond its FIVE YEAR WARRANTY. I like it but for the couple of small things I mentioned.

I did not like this as well as the original humidifiers I have.. Harder to fill, you can't just set it in the sink, you have to hold it. And it was harder to put it back on its base I thought. So, i am not returning it, but will keep it in case one of my other two stop working. I really can't tell you about the operation of it, as I haven't used it.

Too noisy with little refief from dry air
It is a small attractive unit. As others have stated, it's impossible to check the water level without removing the water container from the unit. The container is small, doesn't hold much water and is awkward to fill since you need to hold the container with one hand in an awkward position while maneuvering your faucet with the other hand. I have my humidifier in a 144 sq ft bedroom. I run it on high nonstop day and night but have never seen the humidity level reach above 40%. The thing is pretty noisy running on high in a small room. The noise is similar to white noise. Unfortunately, I'm pretty disappointed with it and would not recommend it.

                                          Auto control doesn't work
The unit has no problem getting the humidity level up. But the auto control on mine doesn't work. I keep it on auto control with a humidity setting @ 40%, but it doesn't cycle on and off. The level has reached as high as 60% at which time I turned it off. Plus with the continous operation, I have to fill it with water twice a day.
