Pros: - Easy to install and use - Cools efficiently - Sturdy window panel and vent hose - No detectable chemical smell - On low, fan is loud enough to quell outside noise from leaf blowers and quiet enough to conduct phone calls. Cons: - Placed 3 orders to receive 1 problem-free unit (first one leaked; second sounded like crickets) - Poorly packaged for shipping (lift the box top slowly, so window panel doesn't fall out and whack your shins.) - Not enough foam to install window panel (I bought an extra bag of 1.25-inch foam weather seal.) Overall, I was pleased enough with this unit to buy another one. I placed 2 orders to receive 1 problem-free unit, but free shipping and in-store returns make it worth the effort.

Poor warranty conditions
My 8000 btu unit worked for 4 months and then started to produce extreme amounts of water drainage, when I contacted the company I was responsible for shipping costs to send back to their only repair facility in California. I live in Florida and the cost is over 200 dollars. Ridiculous

I have had this portable air conditioner for a year now. This is my 2nd summer using it. I am very happy with it. I live in a trailer and have it in my hottest room. By keeping that room cool and using a fan to blow the cool air into the rest of the trailer I am able to stay cool all summer. It is very convenient to use as I am mobility impaired. I just cover it with a large trash bag and roll it to one side of the room when not in use and put the attachments in the closet. It is very easy for even me to set up. I did have a handyman cut a hole in the plastic and purchased a 4 ' piece of clear drain hose so that it empties itself outside and I do not have to empty a pail using the very short drain hose. This is something that could be done to improve this product but I was able to make it work myself. Also, it seems to blow air mostly out the front of the side where the exhaust hose is. it would be nice if it blew air out both sides equally. It does a nice job of dehumidifying - and it is very humid here in upstate NY.

I ended up returning this and purchasing a window unit. The portable was unable to cool my 10 x 12' bedroom (in a shaded yard). It was very simple to install and blew cool air, not cold, so the room remained warm. It did remove plenty of moisture from the room, by putting the drain hose into a milk jug. But with 90+ degree days, it couldn't cool adequately.

Price is right and does it all. Great unit and cools very quickly. Lots of functions and easy install. This is my first A/C and would definitely buy again. Very well built and reasonably quiet. Sleep is good on low fan speed.

Seemed underpowered. Based on various guidelines I had read,I assumed that an 8000 BTU model would be more than adequate for a single master bedroom. But it could never cool the room to less than 73 degrees, even with it running all night on its lowest setting. A 12500 dual-hose unit did much better

        Wouldn't bother.
        * Not too big and fits in the room well. * Searched for this air conditioner with the "quiet" filter. It is not quiet, but that may be because portable air conditioners are entirely inside, whereas a window air condition, that has the same listed decibel rating, seems to be quieter because some of the noise goes outside. * Self-evaporative function works well, we have had the unit in operation for three weeks, and haven't had to empty the tank yet, although the recent, fall weather has not been exceptionally humid, either. * Puts out a lot of air, but doesn't completely cool our bedroom as well as our old window unit despite being 2000 btu more. * More expensive and lower energy rating than an equivalent-btu window unit.

Portable Air Conditioners are designed around convenience and portability and are different and should not be compared to wall mount/ window units and central air conditioning. All of the cooling components are inside of the housing of the unit which sits in the room. They work with the air in the room and must vent using the exhaust hose, in which the heat from the room travels through to the outside.

        Texas air
The unit was simple enough to install. My 16 yr old son did it. He still runs a fan for his BR but no complaints because the room is actually cold now upstairs!

I would not recommend for an apartment dweller
This unit was easy to assemble, and does cool my room, which is why I bought it. However, I'm returning it as soon as I can to my local store. It puts out so much water through the clear plastic hose that I would need to buy a giant bucket to catch it. For the moment, it's draining into a giant plastic water bottle, which I empty regularly. Secondly, I read that sometimes the unit will stop cooling and switch to fan only when you need to drain the small valve at the bottom. It took 2 weeks before I had to empty it, but since then has been almost daily. The unit is too heavy to lift in order to drain, so my thought was to perch it on top of something high, then just let the valve empty into a bucket. It's just been a lot of work so far, and friends tell me they have A/C units that don't require trips to the kitchen daily to dump water. So it's going back.

            Great find!
The assembly was a little difficult with one person but once it was set up, it worked like a charm. The noise can be a little bothersome (until you get used to it) but it quickly cools the room and hasn't impacted my energy bill too greatly. I highly recommend it!

            Reliable
Hose was difficult to install without duct tape. Perhaps we just received a quirky set. Otherwise awesome for our one-room rec room.

            Space saving coldness
We use four of these for the offices and 2 for the conference room. We are in a very old and protected structure so we can't install central or window air. All six have been working as hoped. More than enough to handle the space they are being used in. Much more quiet than a window a/c. We will be getting 3 more for the general cubicle areas.

            Terrible
Its not that this didn't work very well, it didn't work at all. Followed all directions, guidelines and troubleshooting and it would cycle occasionally (very loudly) but not once did any remotely cool air come out. Gave it a week to kick in. Fortunately Home Depot took it back with no problem but the whole experience was so frustrating and disappointing.
