Garbage
As others have said, it reads before you touch a wire. Will not clear: have to reset. Yes, if you're lightning fast it will work. For me, that "work" lasted 2 months. It's dead now. Battery change doesn't help. The product is garbage.

Gives false readings
I had the same problem as Chuck. It gives reading when you get near the wire, gives reading off the ground, and off wire that IS NOT PLUGGED IN. Useless and makes it impossible to find issues on your fencing.

The product takes a reading before touching the wire. The reading will not clear so that you can probe the wire. I bought it on line because there is not a store close top me. I will be returning it whenever I am near a store. It is useless.

have to pull top off to find the probe and ground no directions for that
