This a beautiful light. I did not have any wiring in the ceiling so I had to hire someone to complete the installation. The French directions maybe clear but in my opinion, the English directions are over simplified so I give them a 4 out of 5 rating. There are numbered pictures that have no written descriptions to go with the picture. Once the light was unwrapped, I saw one black and one white wire to be hard wired. My ceiling is low so the coded tips and extra chain links were cut off. The installer I hired did not bother with the short directions and he did not brother with marking the wires as he cut them off, so apparently this light IS easy to install if you know what you are doing. We used the picture and common sense to place the crystals on the light after the electrical work was complete. I did incorrectly think that I would be able to use or choose to not use the black lamp shade after the installation but the shade had to be put in place before the wiring was completed. The diameter of the light does not fit through thirds of the shade frame skeleton. If you want more light, do not use the shade. The fixture is pretty with or without the shade. You need candelabra base lights.

Putting the crystals on was tedious and the bottom long hanging one will not go into the hole even after much fussing to secure it. The directions were not clear at all but I easily figured it out on my own. I had to go on-line to find out what bulbs to buy (not included) but only info is incandesent 40 W B- whatever that means. the contacts on the fixture are for halogen bulbs, I am guessing. The shade is pretty and translucent, silky fabric so light shines through.
