Adhesive on belt seam fails when belt gets warm.
Tried using them to sand finish off a couple of pieces of prefinished oak flooring. Sanding creates heat, and belts kept failing when the adhesive on the scotch tape used to join the belt seam failed due to heat.

I have purchased these belts and the adhesive strip snaps with in 30 seconds of running. The belts are not frayed on the edges, installed in the right rotation and are tracking perfectly. They run for a little Longer if you turn the belt sander upside down and just watch the belt go around, then it snaps. You don’t have to sand anything for them to break they snap at the connection adhesive strip. I bought more thinking it was a bad batch, but it happens no matter what grit of belt. Switched to another manufacturer and no issues

        Worked excellent
Just got done sanding a painted 8’x25’deck. I used two 36 Grit and Four 50 grit belts. None of them broke even when I went over a few nail heads. I bought an inexpensive belt sander and same grit belts from HF. All of the belts broke after a few minutes of use and none of the belts would track straight. I thought it was because of the belt sander. With the Diablo belts there was no more tracking issues. The belts stayed perfectly aligned. I was sanding painted pressure treated wood and the 36 grit did not hurt the wood or take off too much. Once those belts wore out I switched to the 50 grit because I was almost done and didn’t want to buy more. The 50 grit still worked great for sanding painted wood but not quit as quick as the 36 grit. I would not worry about the few bad reviews. I had no issues from two different packages

Poor shelf life; belts fall apart
Bought last September, placed on shelf with other sanding supplies. Got them out today (nine months later) and one belt lasted about five minutes before falling apart at the glue weld. Second belt lasted about 30 seconds. I guess they can't take Florida weather.

            Lousy quality
I purchased 15 Diablo 120 sanding belts 3” x 21 sanding belts in a 120 grit. Everyone of them came apart at the glue seam before there was much wear on them. They weren’t cheap in price but the quality was garbage. Never again will I purchase there sanding belts.

When I bought my Porter-cable belt sander from The Home Depot, I new I was purchasing an excellent belt sander. I knew I’d put it to use, so I needed a good belt. The Diablo 3”x21” 120-Grit sanding belt was the only choice for me. It’s quality is unmatched and it works hard, so I don’t have to. Great sanding belt.

Probably great for wood..terrible for an actual heavy duty application. Probably went through $100 worth of belts in the last week removing mill scale from some steel. Good for about 2 sq. feet before it either needed to be switched out or before it shredded or snapped completely. If i had to do this job over again i would look for another method of material removal. I will never purchase this product again for metal applications.

I put an hour on 1 belt, leveling & scratching mixed layers of paint on box truck graffiti prior to painting. Belt got paint globs on it like every belt I've ever used. It stood up to 4 or 5 cleanings with me using various chisels, a paint brush comb and a gum rubber belt cleaner trying to get the bigger globs off, which was successful enough that I saw improved sanding after each cleaning. Belt held up well. I had the sander tracking straight, no side jamming. So far I reckon theys good beltz.

Really Economical Alternative to Heavy duty Sanders
I had a 12' X 12' old kitchen hardwood floor to refinish. Instead of renting a heavy duty sander I thought I'd attempt doing the job with my hand held belt sander. The floor was in bad shape in many areas. It took me about 15 hours of sanding using a 36 grit paper. Total cost of sandpaper was $22.00 and it did a fantastic job. The paper held up great. Certainly a lot of extra labor, but I saved a ton and I could control the sanding better with my Black and Decker Dragster. Dust was an issue. I include some before, during and after pictures. Not too bad. Really pleased.

                poor quality
Works well until it separates at the seams. Bought several and 8 out of 10 separated at the seam within 2 minutes of continuous use. The others didn't last much longer either. The belt still had plenty of grit on it after it became useless in the sander, threw them in my sand paper bin so I could use them manually by hand at a later time for other projects

                The Destroyer!
I had a tough paint stripping project and decided to use a belt sander. I used some cheap belts from HF. All three clogged with paint gunk within a few minutes. Then I bought this five-pack of Diablo belts thinking I would need all of them. ONE Diablo belt finished the job!

Long lasting product giving quality results.
Most of the sanding belts I have purchased recently were nowhere as durable as the Diablos I purchased. I will continue to purchase Diablo products.

                Seems my experience
was at least better than most. These were a good fit on my old Black & Decker belt sander. I had trouble adjusting the tension at first, and one side rubbed against the side and wore out before the rest. After that, they held up pretty well. I mostly used up 2 pieces for the 4th side of S3S redwood, about 80 6ft pieces. The seam does seem a little week, and I stopped using the worn pieces before they could snap on me. If I do another big project, I might try to find a another brand to see if it wears better. That said, I didn't hate these, and would use them again.

I had a previous batch stored for for many months and they would unglue and come apart. Bought this new set and they work very and do not come apart. I suggest that there should also be sold in packs assoreted grit sizes.

Well worth the price. At around $2 a belt, these are a good value. The seam on the belt is smooth, so there’s no “bump” as the belt rotates. Just bought a 3x21 belt sander, and have been impressed how quickly these belts remove material. The 80 is great for rough sanding. I used it followed by 120 grit to smooth a curve on some chair parts.
