Bores through lumber very nicely. Self feeding screw tip pulls bit through the work. Works great with impact driver. Would not use with a regular drill.

Great product, gets in the corners to drill. Also has extension and case.

These bits are very aggressive and work well for drilling holes in studs in walls. Very fast drilling. Not for fine woodworking but excellent for fast, rough cut work. Stubby size excellent for reaching between studs with a drill with a small cutout in drywall.

Durable product, nice that it also includes the extension shaft in the package. The folding case is great since my bits are stored in a toolbox. If you need more and can sacrifice the case, Home Depot just lowered the price on the 10 piece Daredevil set to $14.97 ($2 more than this).

Just finished boring (80) 1" diameter holes thru floor joists. The last hole went just as fast as the first hole. Loved the way it pulled itself thru the joist. The time savings over a regular spade bit is huge. Plus a regular spade bit dulls quickly. As reviewers point out you need pretty good torque but my 18v Mikita on the low speed was plenty. This thing would be a bargain at 3times the price.

I tried one of these bits a while back, thought it might be OK. They are great ! They are just what I needed for drilling through old lumber for rewiring and plumbing ! They cut easily, nice clean holes, even up to 1", with little or no force needed to feed. They are great for working between studs or joists. A word of warning, have a GOOD grip on your drill as they don't stop for anything ! If you are drilling a blind hole, reverse drill about half way through, clean out the hole, and continue. You will not be disappointed with these bits. And, they will cut through some small nails with ease.

I had unfortunately only used a competitor's spade bit set until recently and man - what a difference. Besides being much quicker at going through wood, it is amazing how much cleaner of a hole these bosch spade bits produce. Lastly, it is really nice knowing that I can let the bit do the work of removing material, since I really do not have to put a ton of pressure on my drill to make the hole... simply showing how well designed these are.

Got these spade bits as a gift (with my hints). The short shanks let me get between narrow wall stud spacings easily with a 3/8" standard drill and with the extension I can cut through any I need to reach via the initial hole. They cut faster and last longer than any of the other spade bits in my toolbox. I actually threw away my old bits instead of trying to sharpen them every sixth hole.
