Says that you can use for multiple water sources, you can’t.

I bought it 2days ago and installed it today(2022.Mar22)in the garage. Because my home has 100A current allowed and detatched garage subpanel has only 30A. I did not want to install 50A circuit breaker (on the main electrical panel) that is supplying current to the garage subpanel because the electric wire that was originally buried under the ground was probably 10gauge for 30A allowance.Definitely it was not 6gauge for 50A use. After installation When I turn the hot water at a higher volume water flow the heater’s red light indicater blinking until it matches the desired temperature and if the the temp reaches the desired one. The red light indicator becomes solid red. That means the heater is using same Amperage which means electrically cruising at a same stable amperage. But when I turn on the water speed at higher volume, the heater tries to match it and draw the higher and higher Amperage till the maximum maybe near 50Amp. Because my circuit breaker capacity was 30Amp. When I push the water volume heater was trying to match but the 30A breaker dropped down for safety. Anyway Low volume of water for my need in the garage for hand washing Not a problem. I am very much satisfied with the very hot and low but enough flow to wash my hand and casual and daily use.

I have been using this unit as my base heater for about 12 month now. During winter, the tap water here is at 5.5°C (41.9°F) and it is able to warm the water to 43.5°C (110.4°F) for my kitchen faucet, which is plenty enough for our needs. Its low trigger flow rate makes it able to provide hot water for both kitchen and bathroom faucets. It is barely enough for the shower though, in the summer. To solve this issue, we use a DHC 10-2 to boost its output, which makes both unit consume up to 90A of our 200A main breaker. We do not have any cold shower, no matter how long they are.

After one day of use, the DHC-E 12 seems to be the perfect solution to supply instant hot water for a bathroom sink. The electrical work to achieve the installation was significant: the addition of a 50 amp dual pole breaker to our 200 amp service panel, running 6 gauge cable to the bathroom, and hard wiring to the water heater using flexible conduit. The result is instant hot water in a volume and at a temperature that exceeds my expectations.

This is the second one I buy. Installed one in our condo in Maui very happy with it decided to put one in my bathroom in my garage instead of a big bulky water heater

Was relatively easy to install and works great. You do have to know plumbing and electrical to do this job for sure but if you do it is fairly easy.

I live in PA wintertime water gets cold, I bought this to replace another instant on because my son said water wasnt warm enough for show so I bought this on. after installing in the Lower voltage range the heater couldnt keep up with the water flow in the shower so I moved the jumper for the higher range, the water in the shower was warm but the main problem was FLOW! The shower head was just pumping out too fast I replaced it with a 1.2 GPM to better match the heaters capacity and works fine that may have been the problem with the old one instant on heaters are the way to go just make sure you have the flow rates correct.

I am om my second unit, as the first one fried and 'blew up' after a couple years of use. Made a huge mess in the bathroom, but luckily I was there to shut off the water. When the company replaced the first unit, they said there was no warranty... After a couple of months, it stopped working. They said I probably have the wrong voltage. Electrician looked at it, the plastic connector for the wires had melted and created a short. He replaced it with a metal one. Two years later,:unit keeps tripping off due to overheating.- that's what the first unit started doing before it blew up... Called Siebel Eltron, they said they were not going to do anything as there was a 'note' on my file. I asked why their units kept failing (I also have a Rheem tankless water heater that has been working fine for 7 years), and she said it was because I was in Canada, and their units weren't designed for such extreme temperatures... WOW. Aren't the states of New York and Vermont also pretty cold? I'm in PEI, not the Yukon...Anyhow, the moral is, don't buy Stiebel Eltron if you live in Canada

I am very impressed with the water heater. It works very well. I have it set at 46 C and it produces water at that temperature with out trouble. I read that getting 6 gauge wire in to the box is rather hard. I can see why. I had the luxury to take the box off the wall while putting the wires in. Worked great ... although it was harder to mount the box with the wires in the way.

on the basement wall immediately below our kitchen sink. Is instant hotwater (maybe 10 seconds) our whole house water tank is 70 feet away and it sometimes took 2 minutes to get hot water. Don't know how much it will increase our hydro bill but don't care!! Was easy to install

The unit is installed at the point of use. We cannot open the sink's hot water tap on full, the unit is not able to heat the flow of one sink. It was very expensive to install, otherwise I would have returned this. Now I just have to live with only partially opening the hot water.

A much better tankless heater design and product, though more costly, than the Bosch I had to return. These were replacements for a standard tank water heater. Easy to install. Still a bit puzzled at why my electric bill didn’t show more of a drop, though this is a 12kw unit.

Excellent water heater for our cottage - good for one sink or shower - but water comes on quickly and stays hot. We chose point of use rather than a tank to ensure we could do multiple showers. Also at the lake the well water has a slight smell so not having a big tank holding water - the point of use was our preferred method.

Used for point of use heating under an art studio farm sink. Great performance, adjustable temp with knob on the front makes it super easy to adjust. Knob allows you to vary the temperature/amperage of the unit based on type of use. Hand washing (30 amps) all the way to commercial use (60 amps).

This unit requires #6 wire but the entrance area for the cable is not designed to allow that size. I am a licenced electrician with 30 years experience and am disgusted with the design of some of the new plumbing appliances that are showing up on the market. I will be reporting the appliance to CSA.

The electrician could not install the product without first getting some parts. I have not used the hot water yet, so I cannot altogether rate its performance. I also am not sure of the specific operation of the product, for it is not obvious. I plan to call the manufacturer. Thanks.

I’m impressed. Installed this to service a bathroom in my garage. Read specs so I also installed a 1.5 gpm shower head. Gives lots of hot water for shower. However be prepared for costly installation - 50 amp breaker and #6 wire.

Easy to install in any nook, need electrician to properly wire, Not a simple hookup. All in all plumbing wise it’s a breeze , no customer complaints

I'm using in lew of a tank system

Once installed, this “tankless” heater works fine. However, the case is plastic, and relatively fragile. Connecting the metal electrical conduit to the case required fabricating a metal piece that fit into the bottom of the plastic case. And it’s a tight fit around the connector terminals.
