Update to my 05/06/2022 review. The adjustment ring that controls the amount of chlorine released can be extremely difficult to set — crazy hard to turn — and it needs to be reset probably every time when refilling. You finally get the ring to budge and then you’ve likely overshot and need to try again in the other direction. Manufacturer: plz make it looser but e.g. with a thumbscrew to lock. At least I don’t have difficulty yet in unscrewing the top to open, as with another brand.

Works for me
Any dispenser is nicer than the plain ones, but I do like this elegant duck. It has plastic eyes like on a stuffed animal. It floats correctly in the water, neither sinking, nor tipping over (unless chlorine tabs are gone, I assume). And so far, it opens up for refill more easily than the last brand I bought. Just be careful to check the dispenser adjustment after screwing-closed the top — even though the adjustment ring is hard to turn, the first time it ended up closed all the way by accident.
This is a fun addition to the pool and can be used with or without chlorine. I actually put a small rock in the bottom to weight it and then put it in my fish pond. The fish were even afraid of it at first-ha ha. But now they know better. It’s durable and weathers well.

Meh
If you have really big hands then this will be easy for you to unscrew the base to load tablets. also you will have to weight it down unless you like to see a side floating duck.

A Lovely Way To Chorinate Your Pool
I had an automatic chorine dispenser attached to my pool pump, however it eventually started leaking simply due to the harsh chemicals. So, instead of replacing it, I purchased a couple of these ducks and let them swim around in the pool during the day, doing their job releasing chorine. I remove them when I swim (very important) which is really no trouble at all. I absolutely recommend these to anyone that does not have an automatic chlorinating attachment. It's a lovely way to add beauty to your home.
