Poor quality. I can not recommend this product.
It was obvious someone at America Standard decided to patch various cracks with cheap blaze and plumber's putty. I do not know how this passed quality inspection. I wasted over 5 hours and now I have to return it back to HomeDepot. The box is very heavy for one person to lift. I'm really upset about this experience. No toilet seat for the family 2nd floor bedroom area until I return this one tomorrow and get a different brand.

Simply Amazing
I am not one for writing reviews but this toilet deserves a review. After years of having toilets that plug at even the slightest amount of toilet paper or "you know what", I finally have a toilet that flushes. I don't remember as a child ever having problems with toilets. I think they were made better then. I think it's a bit silly that they advertise this toilet to flush a bucket of golf balls, however, it is ultimately what hooked me into buying it. We are amazed at the flushing ability and love the slow closing lid. We have had this toilet for about a month and have not had any problems.

Best toilet purchase EVER!! Easiest install EVER!!
Skeptical at first but bought it anyway. Am so very happy. Installation was super easy since tank parts are pre-installed. It is very, very quite when it flushes and removes waste super fast. Tank refill is barely audible. The self closing seat is really neat. Plan to buy more for our 3 1/2 BR home. I have had rental properties for 30 years and have installed many toilets. The Champion 4 is the BEST!

Best toilet I ever owned
Finally found a low water toilet that has power and is fast. It truly is no stain slick surface. I will stay with 4" water hold which made a huge difference in power.

Only for recessed or floor level toilet flange install
Love the toilet. It works great! My one complaint is that my mounting flange sits on top of my tile which makes installation of this toilet very difficult . There is no room for the wax ring on the bottom of the toilet. The toilet bottom Has only 1/2 inch of clearance between the floor and the waste outlet. After completely flattening two wax rings and then having the toilet leak from the bottom both times, I installed a rubber gasket instead. My floor is level but there is just no room for the ring between the bottom of the toilet and the flange. I had to shim the toilet because it is now sitting too high off of the floor because of the rubber ring but so far no leaks. I will have to return the toilet and get one that has a normal floor clearance if it leaks again. Overall good toilet, just wish they had mentioned that the mounting flange must be level with the floor or below.

        Great toilet
Best toilet. Stays clean longer and elongated seat is comfortable. Was not as easy to install as described. Did need to use a deep socket set to tighten the reservoir to the base. The plastic tools included would not do a proper seal. Also the wax ring was contorted in shipping but we exchanged it at the local store with no problem. Am buying a second one soon. Wish it came in bone color

No Replacement Parts - Poor Quality
The flapper gasket in this toilet deteriorate and bubble after a few months. There are no 4" replacement parts for this toilet. I just came back from Home Depot and was told to check on eBay for a replacement valve. I was also told by the Home Depot guys to replace the toilet! It lasted 6 whole months! Looks great but leaks and cannot be repaired only replaced. Total rip-off.

          Champion toilet
Ordered 2 American standard champion model 2586.000ST.020. One arrived with broken base. Tried to reorder but said it was discontinued. Unfortunately I had to settle with another model. Still waiting for delvy service to pickup damaged one so I can be credited. The toilet itself works great but don't like the flushing handle. Hugs toilet tank and has sharp edges.

The champion 4 toilet is the worst toilet I have ever purchased . Need to flush 3 to 4 times to get solids down very weak flush. Plugs easily. Do not recommend this product.

              Best Crapper
I did a lot of research. This is the one you want. 1.6 gal is as big as you can get. The flush valve is 4", allowing more water thru at a flush. The throat is the largest made. It says single flush, but if you just hit the lever lightly it flushes #1 without using too much water. Hold the lever down for #2.

American Standard Champion 4 not such a champ
I have had this toilet less than two years and this week I will have replaced the gaskets for the 4th time to try to keep the water from running. Any other toilet one can go ten years or more w/o having to replace toilet parts. IF YOU'RE CONSIDERING THIS TOILET, RUN TO ANY OTHER CHOICE.

                Doesn't work as promised
The guy at Home Depot told me how awesome these toilets were so I bought two of them. Neither one of them flushes on the first try, sometimes it takes three flushes. Plus, they both get plugged up on a regular basis. Terrible toilets, I would avoid them at all costs!

                  Terrible flush valve
I have had this toilet for about three years and I am about to have to replace the darned valve a second time. Nice toilet to begin with but after a while it shows just how terrible the quality of the flush valve is. The guys at HD told me I may as well go ahead and order a new valve from American Standard as the ones they sold would not last long.

Best for large BM, Handicap people
In 2009 I put 2 of these toilets in my handicap mother and handicap older sister's FL home because they were having problems with flushing and needed the comfort height. Since I am not there to plunge the toilet for every use for them this was the best chose. When I moved into the farm house in WI I was having troubles with the existing toilet in 2010. I know I was getting older and both my mother and sister would be coming to visit, I got this toilet to replace the one here. We have never had to plunge since. Now my younger sister is handicap and is in a group home in north WI and trying to get them to replace the toilet with one of these toilets. I hope they will or I am going to be changing another toilet for them. My daughter has asked my advice for a toilet for her mother in law and I told her this one. It is the best there is for problem free flushing and don’t use a lot of water. This has been the best chose for our family all around. It is easy to install because they provide you with the special tool to attach the tank onto the base unit. If I am a woman and can install it anyone can.

Easy to Install, Great Value, Perfect Height!
I bought, and installed it today. Didn't take long at all. As a plumber, one of the easiest toilets I've ever put together and installed. I'm 6'8" and it's a perfect height for me. In fact, I'm sitting on it right now. Love the tank design, bowl is deep. This is a phenomenal toilet. Trust me I'm a Plumber.

                      Worst Toilet out there!
I bought this toilet because it advertised as a great flusher. Boy was I disappointing. The flushing action is achieved by creating a suction which does work fairly well, but their is not enough water placed in the bowl to clean it. Particles and paper lay undisturbed in bowl which necessitated keeping a bucket of water near by to dump into the bowl to clean it. Worst design ever!

                      Keep your plunger....
The first one we bought had some casting problems. We had to return it and get another. After using this toilet for a year I have to say that it does not preform as well as described. It will clog if you do not ''flush as you go''. I guess a bucket of golf balls is easy to flush because of the shape of the balls. Also, just to top things off.....This thing is not designed to allow a plunger to work very well. So when it does clog once a week good luck!

Not Happy after 2 of them
bought one of these and it did not flush good. Very inconsistent.. Called American Standard and after being on the phone for 1/2 hour they said it was a bad venting issue.. So I did the stupid thing(since reviews for this were good) and bought another one.. Same problem.. So I had a Plumber come over and do some work for $275 bucks.. Toilet still does not flush good.. I'm not even calling AS back. They were so unresponsive I'm not bothering.. But I learned.. My plumber wouldn't recommend them either.. I will get a Toto, Kohler or a Gerber.. I'm done..

Love the height. We have bad knees.
My wife and I have bad knees and the height really is great. Bowl is coated and rarely have any "stickies". Initial flush sound is powerful and not quiet, but the filling is quiet. The seat slowly lowers so you don't have to manually lower it. Unit does not come with water feed tubing. Had to get longer water feed tubing because the tank is higher. I would recommend to anyone and I have purchased this same unit at my previous home and bought the same unit in my newer home.

                        American Standard = Chinese Quality
Make sure you check it before taking it home. Broken triangle piece inside tank, not part of toilet. Mold appears to be off center and toilet is not symmetrical. Toilet does not sit flat on floor. Actually rocks and had to be shimmed over flange.

Works great but requires too much maintenance!
I have 3 of these in our new home since 2012. They work fine but usually leak requiring replacement of the flapper at least 2 times per year! Is there any update to correct this? I have tried both the generic parts from Home Depot and those we obtaine directly from American Standard with only minimal difference!

                            All are Defective
We ordered this on line to be picked up at the store. I had seen a review on line that said to make sure the ever clean glaze was consistent around the bowl and rim. When the toilet finally arrived we had the store unwrap it before we would take it home. As I was warned, there was no glaze under the rim on 3/4 of the rim. That left the underneath of the rim very porous and impossible to clean. We got a refund and went back into the store to look for ant other American standard with ever clean which we wanted due to our rusty well water. Only one American standard toilet had complete glazing with no porous clay spots. We took that home and installed it. Three seals and reinstalations later we found the toilet leaked from the base no matter what we did. We took it back and bought a kohler from Lowes and installed it. No leaks, glaze all over and although it's not the ever clean glaze it was cheaper and better quality.

                              No more clogs!
This is a life changing product! Think - "The Master Blaster" ride at Schlitterban Water Park. Tell your pooh to fasten its seat belt and get ready to be blasted away! We have 20+ year old toilets that clog often. Since purchasing and using this toilet, I am certain we will never have a clog again! It is a unique design which has expanded that teeny, tiny hole at the front of the toilet bowl and widened it to be almost the size of the exit aperture. When you flush, not only does the water swirl from above - it also blasts through the bottom of the bowl, whisking the pooh and paper away. It is surprising how little water it takes. The only thing we had to buy was a new water line. This toilet required a water line twice as long as the one we had. A 12" line barely worked. We will be replacing all four of our toilets with this product! Well worth the expense!

                                THE "BEST TOILET" hands down!!!
This is by far the best flushing toilet out there. I have had several different brands over the years and all of them were constantly clogging. I can't stand using the plunger. Not to sound disgusting but we are talking about toilets. The day before I put this in I had to plunge our old toilet 3 times. Virtually every time my family used it. I've had the new Champion toilet in place a week and I haven't had to plunge once!!! I was not even close to plunging. Everything goes down the pipe effortlessly. If I were you I would buy a different toilet seat since the one that comes with it for free is a bit flimsy. And you might want to pick up a better wax ring since the one that comes for free is on the small side and if you have tile or the flange is below the floor surface level it won't be high enough. I used the "Perfect Sea toilet wax ring" brand for $10 and it was also perfect for the job. It has a better waxless seal that goes against the bottom of the toilet. It does have wax that goes around the pipe so it doesn't leak but you'll have to check it out. It works better than the old kind of wax ring. Neither the seat or the wax ring takes away from the superior flushing capability and this Champion 4 earns every bit of 5 Stars. I would give it 6 if I could, that's how much better it is than the others. And although it's double the price of the cheapest toilets at a little over $200 it's certainly cheaper than other brands and you'll be glad you spent the extra money so you don't have to plunge.
