I installed a new T&P valve on my water heater. I purchased this pipe to attach to the T&P valve. I put high quality plumber's tape on the threads and screwed it in. I turned the water on and tested the valve. After performing the test, water would drip from where the pipe attached to the valve. I tightened the pipe as much as I could. The dripping reduced, but it did not stop (the pipe says to tighten by hand).
Thankfully, I also purchased some CPVC pipe and Shark Bite fittings. The fittings and CPVC pipe worked perfectly! Spend the extra $20-$30 and do it right.
