Good but assembly difficult

Just plain impressed. Assembly instructions good, not perfect but good. Excellent materials and good oiled finish. Would be nice to have a few extra hardware pieces,I always seem to drop some and have trouble finding. But an outstanding addition to our kitchen.

Gets 4 stars. I like that it was made in USA. Quality craftsmanship. All the parts were there. It would have been a 5 star rating if the bottom of the drawer would have been thicker to ensure the drawer could hold more weight.

This is a great chopping block/island unit. Not difficult to assemble, but does take some time and muscle. VERY heavy construction.

I love my Catskill Grand Work Center. There is not a better-made work center on the market. I fell in love with it. It's BIG! It's Beautiful! And Quality is outstanding. It is Elegant too. My husband is a handy feller. It took him 2.5 hours to assemble. The drawer slides like a dream.

Took some time to put together but well worth it. Very well built and sturdy. Perfect center island with great flexibility due to it mobility and drop leaf feature.

Well made, solid piece. Instructions a little fuzzy in spots, but it all went together well.

The assembly instructions were generally good - got a couple of things mixed up but not for long. With hardwoods being shipped to a dry climate (Colorado) there is sometimes some dimensional changes and this was no exception. Minor warping of the top but it seems to have flattened out when finally assembled and mineral oil applied. Looks great, moves easily, is the perfect size for our kitchen

This product is very well built, heavy duty construction. Only negative comment...it is not very well sanded or finished. Needed to oil it with recommended oil after putting it together. Also was missing 18 screws which we had to purchase from hardware store.

great cabinet! Heavy. takes two to put it together. Only thing I can think of to improve would be if they sanded the top a little better.

Like many others who have reviewed this item, the finish on the base section of the work center leaves a bit to be desired. It took a little bit of hand sanding and re-oiling to get the legs and panels smooth. The top itself is a little bit rough too, but all cutting board surfaces will respond that way to water anyway. You just need to keep it well oiled with cutting board oil.

Easy to assemble. Two issues, the surface finish on the top was somewhat rough. Was able to easily smooth with sandpaper. Application of mineral oil helped to seal the wood. Recommend sanding and oiling ASAP as the original surface easily stains. The other concern is the thinness of the drawer bottom. I'd not recommend storing anything heavy in the drawer. Overall a good buy though.

The instructions were easy enough to follow. It was easy to put together and as we assembled it we could see that the product has excellent quality wood and fastener items. The unit is very stable when completely assembled. We did not use the included wheel assemblies because we liked the working height without them. The drawer glides allow the drawer to open to full extension and close easily.

I did not want a stationary island but wanted work space where I wanted it and have the convenience of moving it as I saw fit. This item is perfect for me!!! Like having grandchildren, there when you want them and... Ed

to help with assembly of this truly grand work center. It arrives unassembled and the butcher block top is quite heavy. Once it's all together, it is a very sturdy piece that looks handsome and provides a large work surface for kitchens like mine that are counter- space challenged. The large drawer and towel bars are a bonus. It rolls smoothly on sturdy casters. My only quibble with the center is that the wood components are not smoothly sanded. For something so pricey that has to be assembled, the finish did not live up to my expectations. The entire piece requires some sanding. It seems to me the butcher block should have been as smooth as a baby's bottom. Instead, it will take some finish sanding and a reoiling to make it ready to use. I also would have thought they'd have included enough oil for one application at thist price. Overall, we are very pleased with the Grand Work Center and would still recommend it to others.
