Had a house full of expensive Casablanca fans since we built new 10 years ago. The Bel Air Halo (had a light on top as well, no longer made) we had decided to malfunction and dialogue with the factory service center it was determined it had limited run prototype electronics they did not support and it would need new innards at a cost I could not justify. The wife liked the look of the Bel Air so I ordered another one against better judgement since Home Depot had it on sale significantly less than retail price.
Upon inspection prior to hanging I concluded it had no more quality than typical $150-200 fans. Everything was cheap and typical Chinese manufacturer ceiling fan quality or lack there of. What used to be a wired to house power wall switch was now just a wall switch with a watch battery in it to control the fan. The blades had night and day cheaper finish than the originals and the iron to connect them was different (cheaper) so I could not reuse them. If I had not gotten it for the price I did I would have been pretty upset and trust me I am not amused with what I paid for what I received. I really hope this fan lasts more than 10 years the last one did.
Maybe being it is like typical cheaper fans construction and quality it will go 20+ years. I have hung fans for everyone in my family and friends, some how I always get asked so I have plenty experience of different brands and quality. Home Depot has a lot better selection of fans for the money than what Casablanca is offering these days if this is a fan that retails in $500 range.
