I almost didn't buy this floor because of some of the comments/photos about the inconsistent color. I think the photos above are for a different color of floor. This floor was amazing! Out of 8 boxes, we didn't have any boards that we couldn't use and the color was great. The floor is rustic and has a lot of character. There are a few pieces that are darker than others, but that is related to how the grain absorbed the stain, not anything that is wrong with the floor. We couldn't nail or staple it down because of the radiant heat under the plywood. So, we floated the floor over red rosin paper and glued the tongue and grooves with wood glue. We put down 300 sq ft in a spare bedroom in less than 8 hours. The floor looks great and we are very happy with it.

Good quality for the price, but it isn’t really very distressed in appearance. The only distress it shows are lots of small marks like nail holes but no real dings or grooves or anything like you would see in distressed, reclaimed type lumber.

Really easy to work with, high quality, and beautiful looking floor product. I used a floating floor install for a large upstairs bedroom, stair landing, and closet. Seemingly a great product for the price. Only 1 month in so can’t speak to longevity though I don’t anticipate a problem. Feels solid.

The five inch wooden planks are beautiful and are easy to install!Ordering the planks, however, was an entirely different experience! After waiting more than 20 mins, I was then given excuses why the two people were NOT able to help me at that moment. All of the excuses can frim a supervisor.

These random pieces were random for the most part. Out of 11 boxes ordered, only 1 box was an entire box of the same design and it was the burnt wood look. Not the best wood one, so glad I had an entire box I didn’t need. The project turned out terrific!! This was a great price for a real wood laminate!

Just bought enough to cover 800 square feet, and am giving it a 3-star rating for the following reasons: Number 1, it is advertised as "click lock." It is NOT click lock; it has a simple tongue-and-groove connection, and needs to be glued to hold planks in place. This significantly adds to the installation time, and, therefore, the cost. Number 2, the color is WAY off both the online images AND the actual samples I took home. It was quite a shock to open the boxes and find that not only was the color significantly different from my samples, but the color from plank to plank varies a GREAT deal. Some boards are a dark, charcoal grey color, some are a light pinkish color, and others in between. Not what my husband and I had expected. That said, I think we will like it once it has been installed, and look forward to seeing the whole house done. I would like to recommend the product, but only if the advertising is corrected to reflect the truth.

Response from Armstrong FlooringMay 10, 2018
Good afternoon. Thank you for taking the time to post a review of our product. I am sorry this flooring was not exactly what you were expecting. I am sorry it was advertised as a lock and fold floor, because it is not. It can be floated but it does not have a locking mechanism. I will make sure to notify the correct department to let them know that there is incorrect information on this floor. As far as the color goes, it is common for there to be color variation within runs of wood flooring because of wood being a natural product. Differences between the pictures on our website and the actual product could vary due to variations in computer color displays and monitor settings. In store samples can also look different depending on the age of the sample and the samples exposure to light. Wood floors will change color and lighten over time with exposure to light. It is possible that the you received was exposed to light and was older than the flooring you received in your order. Over time your new floor will lighten and become a similar color to the sample you received. I am sorry these things were not explained to you at the beginning of your purchase journey. Have a great day. Armstrong

It was easy to order and sent to me on time. I loved the floor I installed 7 to 8 years ago so I ordered the same thing. This batch was not of the same quality. The edges and joints where splintered and rough and unfinished.

Love these floors.. BE AWARE - color variation a LOT more varied than pictured, that's the only reason I am dropping a star. I actually managed to get these floors VERY wet (plumbing accident) and the floors actually held up really well, all things considered.. we are not even going to replace the affected boards because visually they look OK. Installation is very easy, they look durable and are very pleasing to the eye - really warm up a space. It kind of makes our living room feel like a log cabin with the color variations of the boards, may also be the lighting of the house. I would highly recommend these floors for houses < 2000 sq. ft for the price.

        Looks lovely
Floor was exactly as advertised. I have used Bruce flooring before and although prior had a locking system and this did not I do not regret this purchase at all. It looks lovely and provides the rich texture and depth that a hardwood floor should provide a living room.

          somewhat questionable quality
While this is called gunstock in color, the available trim is true gunstock while this is darker in nature. The grain is black and the background is darker than the other gunstock we have installed. I also had trouble with this either shifting after gluing or twisting after gluing and taping in place. Others of this nature I have installed, including Copper Kettle cherry distressed did not have this problem.

          Awesome Flooring (just two issues)
We love the flooring and as a result of the design change it was even easier to install than it was the first time we used the product. This was the issue though. We laid this floor in a room about 2 years ago and loved it so much we decided to continue it through the next room. We ordered the materials and it was only then that we detected a design change. The flooring would join the existing flooring on the long edge but the end joint design would not allow us to use leftover material from the previous work in the same run (end to end) with the new material. This resulted in the loss of use for a few left over boards. Also about 4 pc (8 feet approximately) of the new material spanning 9 boxes were damaged to the point of unusable. We still love the flooring and would have went ahead even if we had known these things in advance but it would have been nice to know.

Looks great and easy to install
Flooring looks great. Out of the initial 5 boxes I found one piece that I couldn't use. (part of the first layer of ply was missing on the bottom). Great variation in grain and stain and the distressed aspect is very attractive. Stapled the floor down gives is a nice solid feel and sound.

          Blisters and cracks!!
I had these hardwoods installed from Home Depot. I have always used Bruce hardwood cleaner on them. When I called Bruce to warranty them they claimed I must be cleaning them wrong? I explained I have different hardwoods in other rooms in my house and use the same cleaner? No problems or issues with those hardwoods? I would stay away from these and choose another manufacturer.

Beautiful addition to our home. We love it!!
I installed this distressed finish hardwood floor in my kitchen and breakfast nook about 2 years ago. Last year, I purchased more and installed it in my main bath and hallway. My most recent purchase was to extend it into one of the bedrooms. The distressed finish adds so much texture and beauty to the room, and it hides the fact that I may not have cleaned in a few days (or weeks). It's gorgeous, and I get many, many compliments on it's beauty.

Love the look and ease of installation!
I installed this flooring about a year ago and decided to wait to leave a review. I purchased it because I liked the idea of having a plywood(stable) substrate, how the distressed finish looked, and the wide plank. I still love the stuff but I think it is for certain situations and mine would not be one. I installed it in my living room dinning area which gets the most traffic in the house, including my 65 lb dog. The dog easily scratches the finish but being it is a distressed look I can easily repair it with a black marker and some poly. The biggest con I have found with it so far is that the veneer will separate from the plywood substrate if too much water is allowed to set on the wood. When washing make sure to use as little water as possible, also if you have a dog and they have an accident on it you best be home to clean it up right away. I have spots in my floor that cannot be repaired because of the veneer separation but I knew this could be a problem when I installed it. All in all I think this product would be great in a none animal homes or rooms that do not see a lot of traffic.

Good looking. Tung and groove. Does not lock
love the look of the distressed oak. Surprised to find that it is just regular tung and groove. I still floated it, just had to glue all joints. Nice price and free shipping.
