Over all this is a very good hood it removes alot of the smoke and looks good in our kitchen the only small problem is on high it is a little loud but with the large fan it is still quieter than regular hood fans

Beware the fan is loud when on full blast. Not loud when less than full blast.
A template for installation would really help cut down on installation time. Still a fairly easy install.
Installed myself 2 weeks ago. Meets my expectations.

faulty workmanship
the fan assembly was welded on an angle so the bottom is not straight off by 1/4 inch ..the fan has a very nice appearance other than defect...we are going to have to return it for fear the stone that goes under it will not look good, you can see the left side is flush with the back and the right goes up

As advertised
Cut sheets promised that this item was identical to the unit it was supposed to replace. It was. This made installation a whole lot easier. Old unit out, new unit in. No modification of surrounding cabinetry was necessary. The fan is quiet, as promised, and provides good flow. Used ducted exhaust. Had to get clever with that part of installation but works very well. An appliance bulb is required for the unit which was only slightly disappointing.

Worth it
I took a chance and ordered this range hood online because my local Home Depot didn't stock this model. Very happy with it so far. It was easy to install and looks great - huge improvement over the yellow painted 1970's model I had. And much quieter too! My only complaint is that it requires special light bulbs (A-15 appliance bulbs), but they're cheep and easy to find.

It started falling apart shortly after it was installed. Fan & filter are okay. The piece to slide in place when it is vented to the outside does not stay in place. The "grill" part broke and was loose from the beginning. We expected better quality for the price!!! The fan was more CFM but it does not remove smoke or odors any better than cheaper units.

Works well with the exception of the front baffle for closing off the air blowing forward from the bottom of the front vent...the amount of air seeping out is strong enough to blow out the healthy flame of a wooden match...have tried everything to correct with no success....Rating would have been much higher without this problem...

I am not sure what the problem is, but I get a downdraft around the perimeter of the fan when it'...
I am not sure what the problem is, but I get a downdraft around the perimeter of the fan when it's on. It does appear to exhaust some. I don't understand the downdraft. If anyone can advise, I'd appreciate it.

Inexpensive but warranty only covers parts
Purchased 10 months ago and fan motor going out as well as front fascia cracked. And neither from misuse or aggressive handling
Called Broan and only parts are covered. How am I supposed to replace a defective fan motor without paying someone to do it? Not happy with quality of product n would have purchased from a brand that services their warranted products entirely.

Thank you for your feedback on the QT230SS range hood. You are correct. The non-ducted filter does not come with the purchase of the range hood. We do try to make this clean on our website and also on the box. The non-ducted filter part number is 99010317 and The Home Depot should be able to order this for you. If not, you can order this directly from our Customer Service at 800-558-1711 or from our website under the Shop for Parts link. Took quiet a while to install as the connector piece that was included did not fit smoothly. in the end, had to go out to buy a new connector and use metal snips to take off the corners so that the vent would open and close smoothly. What should have been a straightforward, quick install ended up taking hours with lots of frustration. However, once installed, it looks good and works just fine.

I looked at the width specifications, and the unit was actually wider than is stated. Due to this, installation was very difficult. Also, the fan is more loud, with vibrations, than the old hood, which was the same model in that year. At minimum, be sure the specification information is accurate. I'd remove and replace it but how do I know the new specs would be accurate....

Great quality, very bright lighting and the fan is pretty quiet. I purchased this to replace an existing hood so that my hood would match my new stainless steel appliances. I'm very happy with this - great look and quality for a great price.

Excellent appearance, improves the look of my entire kitchen. It runs very quietly, as advertised, and provides much better lighting than the previous range hood that it replaced. There were some difficulties installing it due to unclarity about the actual width---which, on the range hood that I received, was 29-7/8 inches. But that was not a great problem, and once installed it definitely meets my expectations.
