This is the first auto darkening welding mask I have owned and I read the reviews before buying this one as the price was a great deal. It is very easy to use and works very well by comparison to the hand held welding mask I was used to and I had no problem wearing my glasses with the helmet on. The auto darkening function makes adjusting and lining up the welding gun tip to the job very simple and I was able to get good welds more or less straight away despite it being a few years since I last used a welder. This is a great choice for home or professional users. It is easy to adjust using the head band adjuster which has a ratchet to stop is slipping once you have it to the size you want. The forehead pad also has a sweat band built into it which is handy when welding in hot places or the middle of summer. The visor rotates up and out of the way very easily when you need to see the job in plain sight. Putting the welding helmet together is pretty easy however the one area where there is room for improvement in the instructions is how to set the 'shade' that the screen will darken to using the rotating knob on the outside of the helmet. It took me a little time to figure out what number it was set to as the numbers are a little small on the dial. There is a handy chart in the instructions that recommends the best shade setting for different type of welding (TIG, MIG, Arc etc.). You can control the speed with which the screen will dim once it senses an arc and also the speed at which the screen will return to normal after the arc has finished. There is also a handy 'test' button on the inside of the visor that instantly dims the screen so you can make sure it is working properly and the batteries aren't dead before you use it. The helmet comes supplied with a pair of AAA batteries and a built in solar panel helps keep the helmet charged. Also included are some extra screen panels so that you can replace the screen if your mask gets covered in small weld splatter marks.

Work even better than expected. Fits very well and has a superior flash reaction time. I would highly recommend this product.

This helmet is great. Light weight and so clear and responsive. By comparison, my Harbor Freight helmet was garbage. The headgear is much more comfortable and changing batteries is a breeze. Buy this quality name brand helmet and don’t waste your money on the Harbor Freight junk.

lightweight, works well

Lincoln has been my go-to manufacture for all my welding needs. The automatic darkening feature with this welding helmet, is an added plus. I have been very pleased with this product. I will continue to look to Lincoln for all my welding products.

Never used this type of shield and am really satisfied. No guessing where to strike. Would buy another if something happens to the one I have now. Price was great also.

I use this helmet MIG welding and it performs very well. I bought a 1.25 cheater lenses locally and wow I can see to weld again. Thanks

Helmet works really good. You get the Lincoln brand and quality @ the Harbor Freight and Northern Tools price. I thought that with only two sensors that it would be an inferior product, boy was I wrong. The grind feature works super good all you have to do is twist the shade knob until it clicks and you know your in grind mode. Definitely recommend wouldn't hesitate to buy again.

wish it was available without the fancy graphics, I can't see them anyway while using it.

I bought this helmet to replace my old one that uses a fixed-shade lens, and to use with the Lincoln Electric 125HD flux core welder. For my purpose it works great. Visibility is great with the hood down between welds. In fact (in reasonable light) you do not need to flip up the hood between welds when making adjustments to your project. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this helmet. I have not tried the grind function yet. For my little 4 1/2" the light does not warrant shade, just goggles. I have not welded with a large variety of helmets... maybe 5 in total, all in the same price range as this one. But of those 5, this is the best I have used.

I bought one of these for the house but quickly realized it was better then the ones we have at work. I took it to work and ended up buying another one for a our master welder at work. Its really good. Name Brand and comes with extra lenses. Great Deal!

I always wanted to learn welding having dabbled in it 40 years ago. I know it's a remarkable and hugely in demand trade. Finally got a great deal for a beginner arc welder though HD and will be learning! Looked throughout the internet and this $49 welder helmet was the best deal out there!!

I suffered for what seemed years with my old helmet. i was running through new batteries every couple of days. This was just what I needed. This helmet works great. Adjustable shield, solar AND battery powered (two AAA batts). Light can comfortable. Helmet itself is thin and flexible. Not sure it its thinness will prove to be a problem or not, but it certainly keeps the weight down. If someone walked off with this helmet, I'd buy another in a heartbeat. Perfect for the weekend warrior. I do not think it would last in a daily manufacturing environment, however as it really is a hobbyist helmet.
