I would give this feeder a ZERO if I could as in 8 weeks that is the total number of birds that have used it. We have 5 feeders and this is the only one that is not visited by any birds. I mean ZERO birds. We bought it as it was supposed to be squirrel proof and it apparent is as NO birds and NO squirrels use it! If I had not throw away the box I would return it!

Response from PerkyPet Consumer SupportJun 28, 2017
Perky-Pet® has a long history of producing high-quality and reliable bird feeders and products. We apologize for this experience and would be happy to provide assistance.

Birds are creatures of habit and can take some time to adjust to a new feeder. To aid in this transition, we recommend temporarily taking down any other established feeders. Placing a shiny pie pan with a handful of seed on the ground under the feeder may also help attract them to the feeder.

Our feeders are covered by a 30 day money back guarantee and a one year replacement warranty. Please give our Consumer Relations Team a call at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) with any additional questions.

Best regards,

This is one of the few birdfeeders I've used over the last couple of years that really does keep squirrels from bothering it. It is favored by mostly smaller birds (chickadees, titmice, goldfinch) rather than larger ones. Many of the larger birds prefer to eat off the ground or from a platform feeder.

I bought this more to discourage the blackbirds than the squirrels. The feeder is well made, sturdy and easy to fill/clean. I notice that it slows the blackbirds from getting the food as they are unable to easily get under the cone. And, it definitely prevented a squirrel from accessing the food.

    Great bird feeder
This is the third time I bought this feeder from HD. Really is squirrel proof. Even the blue jays & cardinals feed from the perch. Excellent product & service!

Birds do not like it either...
The bird seed gets stuck in the small openings and they won't use this feeder. The squirrels cannot get into the feed so that part works well but the birds don't like it at all. We changed out the seed several times but the birds don't seem to want to duck under the shield to eat and they all flock to the other feeders.

Birds often take several weeks to adjust to a new feeder. To aid in this transition, we recommend removing any other established feeders from the area until they are using the new addition regularly.

We apologize for this experience and hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) for additional assistance.

Got it for my dad for Christmas. He loves it
My dad has informed me well how well it keeps away the squirrels and only allows the birds to enjoy it alone.

    A design that works!
This is the only bird feeder design that we have ever found to really solve the northwest problems of moldy seed, and effectively keeping the most tenacious of squirrels out of it. It works great. We bought two of them.

    Horrible packaging.
Maybe it's my location but birds refuse to eat from this feeder. I have 6 other types of feeders and the birds fight to get to them.

Squirrel proof - You Bet!, Bird Proof - You Bet!
Purchased this feeder to combat squirrel problems. It certainly does that. Unfortunately, the feeder is surrounded by a clear cover midway that cannot be removed. In the month or so since we installed the product, we have seen exactly one bird willing to fly up and under this cover.

      Really squirrel-proof
Little birds love it. Squirrels can't get to it or into it, they just eat whatever's fallen on the ground and get their fare share. The feeder is a bit small for beautiful birds like red robins or cardinals to get in, but they also come to eat on the ground.

      plus and minus
The idea of a cover to keep food dry was good but this one is too narrow and only a few bird attempted to go under it to get to the seed. Any sudden movement or noise that would frighten birds makes them crash into the cover when they are trying to fly away. I ended up taking a hammer and breaking the cover (no other way to get it off) but so far the birds are still wary.

      Buy This
This the only bird feeder that will keep squirrels off 100%. The only negative is it should be bigger to hold more seed.

      Bird Shelter Squirrel proof feeder
I'm constantly fighting the squirrels for everything from bird feed to my garden so finding something that works is great. I've had 4 "squirrel proof" feeders they've managed to eat their way into (plastic yet!) but, they really can't get into this feed in the feeder. There are teeth marks on the metal top where they've tried - but only success they have is tilting the feeder so that some feed falls out on the ground. Great product.
