I get that the bracket slot pattern for the screw heads could result in a somewhat convenient twist on/twist off. However, as far as I can tell, the slots are asymmetric to the units center and this frustrated my desire to wall mount to a vertical center line.

How could I possibly rate this product? It looks nice and sounds nice but I hope I'll never know how it will work

Installed battery and tested it. Light flashed but no sound. Bad unit. Also did not like feeling of cheesey fake button that was created by cutting away case. I returned it and replaced it with a Kidde 10yr sealed alarm w lithium battery and real test/hush buttons. Worth the extra expense, in my opinion.

Alarms already assemble which mad it easier to install Highly recommend

What need to cover opening different Fire extiguster. Battery type is this one. Very good extiguster.

Item was exactly what I wanted and I was able to replace older units with little effort.

Didn't use it as it wasn't the one i needed. Can't return it either it seems so stuck with it.

Used these Kidde smoke detectors to replace the 15 year old ones in my house. The installation was not a problem and I expect to get 10 years of use out of these.

Good brand but mounting bracket doesn't work. you put it in the base and turn it but there is not firm locking. Vibration over time from upstairs will most likely have it falling down on the floor. I am putting some electrical tape over the slots to try and get it to lock in a little more firmly.

Easily installed and went to work right away! I was cooking something in the kitchen and didn't actually see any smoke coming from the pan--but the First Alert smoke alarm did and started beeping. I like knowing that it is so sensitive.

Easy to install. Really like how easy it is to remove the battery and the silence button.

Home Depot site was not working correctly when I attemped to order the prouct online. So, I called and ordered over the phone. The call went well, and I received my product in a timely manner. The product itself, shows a red light which concerns me that the instructions were not clear enough.

When I first installed these (I bought 3) straight out of the package, one of them made its piercing alarm sound a couple of times in the middle of the night (not a good way to wake up). I took them all down about a week after the initial install and vacuumed them out. Since the vacuum, they have been quiet for about a month. They are inexpensive and come with a good-quality 9Vdc battery.

This product exceeded my expectation and it is made very good.

Great smoke alarm for sheds and other locations without electricity. Buying on line was easy and reasonably priced. Exactly what I needed.

I've had this smoke detector (or maybe it's a very, very similar model from the same manufacturer) for about 15 years now. It did go off once when I burned dinner pretty badly on the stove, but apart from that, no false alarms. It goes through a set of batteries about once every 5 years, which is shocking to me, but it's saved me lots of money over the years. Would definitely buy again if I ever need to. At this point, though, I'd expect it to last me at least another 10 years.

We have had this detector for over a year and we haven't had a single problem. Only once did it go off while cooking and that was while we were using the broiler. All in all for an inexpensive detector it does the trick for us.

I just ordered new smoke detectors to replace these. These things are annoying. They go off every time we cook even when nothing is getting burned. They chirp all the time even when the battery is still good. Basically they are garbage.
