I would not recommend this product at all. After installing it with Teflon tape and pipe thread compound, I thought it was water tight. After turning on the water it started leaking at the brass threads going into the filter and also the O-ring seal. So I took it completely apart and started again and repeated the process of re-installing Teflon tape and compound, I also greased up the O-ring. I then turned on the water and didn't noticed any leaks. I went back in a hour and notice that the sink cabinet was completely drenched in water. I took it out and replace it with a know brand. Luckily I caught the water leak before any real damage took place.

    Good economical filter
I got this filter not because of any water issue I was having, our rural water system provides excellent water that comes from a very deep well. However, the water system is old, and occasionally i will get some sand or sediment that causes issues with faucet aerators and commode flush valves. So far this filter has done well in catching the sand and sediment. Installation was pretty straight forward, I removed a section of the incoming waterline and using the proper fittings, the filter went in very quickly. The filter appears well made, the body is heavy plastic, and the filter canister is sealed with an o-ring. The threads that hold the canister on are very coarse, which in my experience case less cross threading issues than finer threads. The filter does NOT come with a filter cartridge. I didn't read the fine print and had to return to HD and get a cartridge. Also, there are different cartridges available, depending on you r filtering needs.

This product was meant as a replacement for product after 10 years service. Only the vessel needed to be replaced. The new cylinder installed in the old base with the tool included in the kit. Water tight with little effort. The kit did NOT include the filter, must purchase separately. Very happy that no plumbers was needed for this replacement.

It's OK. I had the filter installed in July of last year and the local store was out of replacement filters a couple of weeks ago. The sales clerk ordered for me, but the complete filter system was ordered instead of the replacement filter. So I returned the system and purchased a GE replacement filter since the local store was still out of replacement filters.

    Comedy of Errors
The unit does it's job for the lowest price, so to me , that best. After I bought lots of fittings for the copper pipe, I discovered that had tubing to deal with. So I return some fittings and get flare nuts and flare fittings, turn water off and drain and cut the tubetube only to discover the 1/2 incn flare nuts would not fit on 1/2 inch copper tube. You need 5/8 nuts which the hardware store didn't sell . Ended up with shark bites (fittings). This is all mentioned to save the next people time and gas. Also learned need thread tape going into plastic. ( lost instructions). I would get this filter again when needed, but would get the correct inlet outlet sizes next time to save on extra fittings.

      Just Installed...CHECK FOR LEAKS!
I went shopping at HD today, which I find greatly inferior to Lowes, for anow inline water filter system to go system to go under my sink. The store itself had very few options. I settled on this filter system from Glacier Bay. This product only comes with the filter housing, mounting bracket, and filter wrench. It does not come with a filter, water line, plumbing tape, rubber washer, or couplings for the water line. I spent over an hour walking up and down the aisles at Home Depot trying to find the parts necessary to complete this install. My main issue with Home Depot is that you can never find help to find any product and today was no different. Their organization on their shelves is horrendous as well. After about an hour, a Home Depot employee came to my Aid and helped me find what I was looking for. I did not want a filter type that used push-in water line holders because I have heard too many horror stories of those things blowing out and leaking. What I like about this filter system is that you can buy whatever type of couplings that you want. I wanted brass screw on type, and that is what I got because I know they are secure. I needed a 3/4 to 3/8 compression adapter due to the filter housing's female size is 3/4". Many people on here claimed their filer housing leaked so I listened to those reviews and also got disk type rubber washers for the inlet and outlet ports of the filter housing to use in conjunction with plumbing tape. I installed my filter using 4 wraps of plumping tape around all screw connections just as the directions says. I also using rubber washers in the female inlet and outlet ports. Upon hooking it up and turning my water on, my inlet port started leaking. I found a second disk type washer in my garage and installed a second rubber washer in the inlet side of the filter housing to insure the compression coupling bottoms out into the washer. That did the trick and the leak stopped. I am super paranoid about it and placed a gallon jug underneath my filter as a safeguarday to catch any leaks. I intend to check it religiously for the next few weeks to insure the seal holds. The water tastes great using the standard HD carbon type chlorine filters. I got two of those filters for around $12. My fingers are crossed. The compression adapter I bought that worked great is LFA-125, which is brass.

        Glacier Bay filter housings
I bought 2 of these to replace 2 old GE FILTER HOUSINGS, after a lot time checking the new ones that are made now the Glacier Bay is by far the best quality for about the same price.. I plumb the 2 of these inline so all the water is filtered before entering my home. I change cartridges every 3 months, they do a good job cleaning up well water.

          Real good product.
I am using it as a filter for my livestock's well water. When matched with a carbon filter it is a real nice buy. Easy to assemble and use.

          good enough house water filter
I had a Dupont whole house water filter with my old softner. When I put in the new softner I decided I didnt need a filter. Wrong, my wife says the water tastes different. So I back to the closest hardware store that I always go to and get another Dupont system. This Dupont has a valve in the head setup. After 3 days it was leaking out the top of the unit. So I get another Dupont, and it leaked out the top after one day. So I had enough of that. Went to Home Depot and bought this Glacier basic system. I dont need a clear view bottm, and I dont need a shutoff valve in the head to change the filter. The onlyl place it can leak is at the two connections. Its been a week now and no problems. What you have to do with these plastic products is wrap teflon tape about 5 times on what your using to screw into here, and then add a bit of sealing paste. The use of both will make for a leak free seal.

          Water Filter System
The Basic Household Water Filtration System is just that basic. The installation of this system is above the DIY'er with little plumbing experience, instructions that come with the system are a little hard to follow if you do not have basic knowledge in plumbing. The design is very good because it will fit in tight spots with the universal mounting bracket. The over all quality of the system is one that if it is not abused it will last along time, just remember to change the filter and keep the O-ring lubricated.

          Good basic filter
This seems to be a good basic whole house filter. It installed pretty easily. I had to wrap the seals with teflon tape pretty good to get a waterproof seal but have no problems. It uses standard sized replacement filters so there should never be problem getting new ones. I have city water and it's not really bad so I don't notice a significant improvement but it makes me feel better having that extra filtration.

Household Water Filtration to remove sediment
In order to install this household filtration system, you will need two 3/4" NPT adaptors (not included) to adapt to the existing cold water supply pipe. Several inches of cold water pipe will need to be removed prior to installing. You need 2" clearance below the installed unit to allow for changing the filter. The unit can withstand 125 PSI water pressure. There is a mounting bracket that you put onto the filter head before connecting it to the plumbing. In order to change the filter, you turn the canister to the left to drop down the canister which will be filled with water. A hard plastic wrench is included for this task. You will have to shut off the cold water supply to the unit as there isn't a shutoff valve on the unit. The warranty is for one year to be leak and drip free.

          leaks
After four tries to get the inlet side to stop leaking I am taking it back. In my last attempt I wrapped the brass fitting 10 times around with the heavy teflon tape and put plumbers putty on the threads of the filter head and it still leaked. Buy something better.

            Simple basic filter system
Fairly easy install, and will filter out most contaminants and particles. It's not going to be quite as good as a reverse osmosis system, but it's not meant to be. Filters are cheap, last a long time on our community water system (may have to change more frequently if you're on a well) and the water tastes a little better. I always worry about filter availability in the long term, but this appears to use a standard size so not worrying very much.

            great product
water filtration system works great ,not a plumb so had to have a plumber install it ,but it was well worth it taste of the water so much fresher than just coming out of the spigot. I would recommend this product to anyone that wants to improve on their water taste and cleans dishes better doesn't leave a soap residue like a hard water would do.so check it out

            Very solid product!
As a plumbing professional I have to say you can not go wrong with this filter houseing, why pay much more for a filter housing when they all take a universal filter size. This thing is well made and very strong. Tolerances are very tight and you will have little to no bleed by while this filter is I operation. This is perfect for the normal 2 and a half bath home.

Easy to use House filtration system
This Glacier Bay whole house filtration system is easy to install and use. The use and Care guide is excellent. It contains a check list of safety information, advise on where to install it, how to install it and how to install/replace the filter. It also includes advise on if your cold water line is used for grounding of electricity and what to do if you break that ground when installing this filtration. The guide includes a list of filters that can be used with the system as well as replacement parts. The pictures included in the Use guide are excellent - easy to see and easy to understand. On the outside of the box is a list of items you will need in order to install the filtration. With everything that is included anyone can feel confident in installing this unit. Included with the unit is a plastic wrench specifically made for holding the unit stationary while installing. Well designed and well thought through product.

            Easy, inexpensive wate filter
I recently purchased two of these filter housings that will supply water to two commercial ice makers. I use the HDXHousehol Carbon filters (HDX2CF4). The installation was very straight forward, even without reading the instructions. Just wrap the 3/4" fitings with Teflon tape and run them in until they stop. The only drawback that I could see, is that the threads should be stainless sleet, or brass instead of just molded plastic. Other than that, they work just fine.

            Still leaking...
The instruction do say to add 4 wraps of Teflon tape to the inlet fittings; I have tried 2 wraps, 4 wraps and 6 wraps...it still leaks!! The whole purpose of NPT is to eliminate leaks, but obviously they did not get the internal threads right on this product. I have tried two different brands of 3/4" bushings with same results, so it must be the internal threads. I will try previous user's tip of installing gaskets, but if that is what works, why don't they include gasket with the product?

It can be installed without leaking
An obvious design flaw that can be easily corrected. After 3 trips to the store and reading all the reviews, I came up with a solution that seems to allow the"leak free" installation without excessive and questionable use of sealant tape. The problem can be solved by inserting gaskets in the inlet and outlet holes to allow the fitting to "bottom-out" on the washers and seal. So Far, So good.

            Non-existent plumbing instructions
Was looking for a replaceable filter to front an icemaker and a instahot appliance. My plumber gave up on making it not leak until he read the fine print on the vessel (not in the instructions) that said you had to use Teflon tape 3x on the threads going into the filter. He did so but I haven't had a chance to see if it still leaks. There were little if any printed instructions and not much help on what or how to plumb this device. Assuming I can get the thing not to leak then the rest of it seems to work fine. Access to the filter is easy and works.
