First, don't even think about installing this without the ceiling support rod. There's no way it will stay level no matter how solidly the brackets are mounted. (On the other hand if you don't care whether it's level and steady, go ahead and skip the rod). Second, I don't know if mine was defective but the curved piece did not turn a full 90 degrees - it was maybe 80-85 degrees. This means that the longer piece will have a slight bow in it if you mount the brackets in exactly the right position for a 90 turn, and will stress the brackets with a sideways force. Third, although it is brass, as advertised, the pipe walls are about as thin as they could possibly be - just barely on the right side of too thin (although the thin gauge keeps the weight down). Fourth the brackets could be beefier, especially at this price point. Last, if you do get the ceiling support, be aware that it is entirely dependent on one tiny set screw that holds the ceiling rod to the bracket around the shower rod. If you ever put excessive weight on the shower rod, that is the point that will detach first. Overall it's a nice looking rod and doesn't take too much trouble to mount. But the quality control could definitely improve.

Overall, a reasonable quality product for the relatively high price but be aware that no instructions are provided and the mounting hardware consists only of screws, no anchors of any type are provided. And you'll have to buy the support rod separately, that's another $20.

I like the shower rod, but I don't understand why a ceiling support is not included. Clearly, it is needed. Now I have to order this separately and pay shipping charges. This is ridiculous.

This is an excellent quality shower rod that was easy to install. However, it is very expensive. We went with this option only because a custom glass enclosure would have cost $950.

I had high hopes for this product, but unfortunately it barely passes. Light, cheap, poorly packaged, no literature, and not worth the money. I should have just re-chromed the old existing fixture. The flanges are of excellent quality, however, they are accompanied by substandard screws to affix the product to the wall. Expected much more. Unfortunately it is tough finding this type of product nowadays.
