Upgraded Patio
We bought 1 gallon + 1 quart to cover our patio. Around 500-600 sqft. The product itself is very affordable and easy to apply. We first prepped with an etcher and finished it with 4 coats of the Wet Coat Sealer ( A 5 gallon bucket was $120 and we ended up using about half). We spread it out over a few days, since everything needs time to dry in between applications, and the entire process took less than 8 hours.

Used this to tint mortar between bricks that had to be replaced on the house. Easy to apply, and it fit my needs perfectly. The results were just what I was looking for something without having to spend a lot of money. I did not use it for its intended purpose so I used a brush to apply.

Used this dye to fix some staining of natural stone tile that got mastic on it in spots. Worked well, as you could add depth of color in repeated applications. Water based, no smell, very little trouble with lines of stain showing up (wet dye over a partially stained area that dried).

Application with sprayer was difficult and spotty. This dye doesn’t provide the natural concrete look I'd hoped for. Applying one lighter coat looked too monotone, like paint. The second, darker coat went on very spotty, so we needed a third coat to even out the spots. Final look was disappointing.

Hi MRyan,

I'm sorry to hear about the experience you had with our Decorative Concrete Dye. For the best spray application, it's best to use a pump sprayer with a conical tip. Please reach out to Behr directly for further assistance in this matter.

Kindest regards,

Doris Behr

I would not recommend
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would not recommend this product. I followed the directions and steps for prep and application exactly. My concrete patio looked amazing when finished. It was so beautiful. An the places that have stayed in tact are still beautiful. However, this product peels up in little spots here and there leaving white spots on the patio. You have to be very careful not to scrape it with a chair, so I put felt feet on all my patio furniture. But still in random spots it will just peels up for no reason - no traffic, no furniture, nothing to make it peel. The smallest spot is just a spec size but the largest is a couple of inches across. This was a very expensive project since I dyed about 900 square feet of patio. I just hope I can somehow repair the areas that have peeled.
