This door is trash
I purchased this Andersen storm door from Home Depot. I have not had an opportunity to enjoy it. The first strong wind destroyed it. I will never purchase an Andersen door again it’s not worth the money.

Poor craftsmanship,
Door sags 1/2" inch from hinge to latch. In pictures you can see the hinge widens as you go up the door. Door drags on sill and sticks when trying to open. Called customer service and was told this is within specifications.
Also, the door doesn't open all of the way without disconnecting the shock.
Screen doesn't stay down when fully opened.

Trash! Do not buy!
The latching system is non-existent. Andersen maybe thought it would be cool to have the door handle sit in the frame channel but any strong wind will rip the door open, which is what happened to us. Door glass shattered. Andersen says tough luck. Never again will this company ever see a dollar of mine. And I’ll make sure to take this up with the BBB because a professionally installed door that won’t stay shut is absolutely defective. But Andersen won’t do the right thing and refund us.

Anderson 3000 Storm Door with Retractable screen looks great but the glass self destructed into a million pieces.
We installed the Anderson 3000 storm door on 3/13/2024 and were very happy with the looks and operation of the retractable screen. Today, 3/29/2024, barely 2 weeks after installation, the glass window pane in the upper retractable portion of the storm door spontaneously exploded into a million pieces. We were in a different part of our house when we heard the shattering of the glass. The entire upper window was spider-webbed into broken glass. There was absolutely no activity around the door when the glass exploded. A call to Anderson revealed that this was not under their warranty--no surprise there--and we could order a replacement window for $93. Have to wonder how long it will last.

3000 series storm door
Andersen 3000 series storm door
The door was ordered thru Home Depot on 3/9/23 and received 4-6 weeks later
Everything was fine until our first heavy storm that had the rain hitting the door and the door started leaking at both lower corners of the picture frame that holds and "seals" the glass.
Andersen reply: We would like to note that the entry door, not the storm door, is considered the main line of defense in protecting your home from the outside elements. You can caulk (put sealant) the area where water is infiltrating to resolve the issue of water infiltration.
If Andersen would have asked me about the issue so that they could make improvements to their product I would not be as disappointed as I am. It is their complete lack of interest as to the performance of their product that has me completely disappointed with the company and product.
Based on my service at Andersen I would not buy or recommend their product to anyone.

They are a lightweight, can catch wind, do damage
Installation was OK, but the latching is a little haphazard. Without locking, I discovered that a decent gust of wind can manage to catch and force the door open, and the door closer at that point has no chance. Put enough force on the screws to split the wood underneath the aluminum wrapping, so that will be a fairly involved repair. I'm going to have to put some sort of door stop to prevent a re-occurrence, or buy a heavier door.

Leaks
I really wish I could write a positive review but this door is junk. For as much as they charge, it shouldn’t leak. The seals between the glass and frame are trash and your door will probably leak when it rains. I advise anyone looking into this door to look at a different brand.

Plastic Frames - becomes brittle
Door frame became brittle and cracked after 2 years. Contacted Andersen the balmes it on external force like hail storm or someone stepped on it. Disgusted by their assumptions.

I believe this series has a design flaw.
Think twice before buying this model: the top edge of the door (actually the screen window panel) rubs against the drip rail unless you put a spacer between the drip rail and hinge rail. In my case, I used washers (see picture). My door frame is pretty square, and I followed Anderson customer service instructions in trying a variety of install tweaks. I think this is a design flaw: the design doesn't incorporate the extra vertical clearance needed for the screen window panel.

BEWARE: Door has multiple leaks during first rain
Door is not high-quality at all for the price, during the first rain within 2 weeks of purchase I saw puddles of water on the threshold. Door cannot repel any water, and in fact, seems designed to attract it. Don’t know if they forgot to manufacture the rest of the door, but do yourself a favor and get a Larson. you’ve been warned.

Glass Shattered
Lower glass shattered 3 months after install. Heard a noise, checked out the door and glass was shattered. Andersen Customer service would not replace as "Shattered Glass" isn't covered by their warranty. I had to purchase a new glass for it... The whole door felt very cheap. Overall, would not purchase again. Very disappointed.

Love the Door
This door is perfect for my needs. I love the self-storing screen. I also like the foot activated feature to prop the door open. I switched from an iron bar security type storm door, so this is much more open and seems as if there’s no storm door there. Love the weight of this door as well. I got the sandstone and it matches my windows perfectly.

Door looks great, however...
Several areas on the door show light wear/scrapes on the frame of the door. I special ordered an Anderson 3000 door had it installed 6-19-23.
I love the door except that when the upper glass is lowered all the way open, to expose the screen, the glass slides back up about 11". If I open it again all the way it does exactly the same thing. I talked with Anderson and was told this is normal! It seems to have to much tension on an inner spring. Very poorly designed.

Would not buy these again
I purchased two of these doors. We can not use the doors because the doors are so poorly sealed that when you open the door, 20 or more millers come into the house. I don't know if this is a door issue, Home Depot didn't install them properly, or a combination of the two. There is a loose piece on both sides of the window and I can actually put my finger in there. I have also attached two pictures as evidence to the mess that the millers leave on the inside of the door.

Great looking door and best install!
Great looking door! We have installed 3-4 doors over the years and it usually is a major chore. We decided to give it another try with this style and it was by far the easiest install we have done and it looks great! Probably took us about an hour. Very happy with the purchase!

Liked but didn’t last
Install was easy and we’ve really enjoyed the air floor it has allowed for our house. Less than a year into use the screen tore in the retraction mechanism. Unlike a solid screen there appears to be no way to patch the screen so it quickly damaged the entire screen so that one side is completely disconnected

The MOST HORRIBLE INSTALLATION
Home Depot installed this door as part of our contract. The installer had a lot to say about how incompetent many installers are, and how he does it right.
After he installed it and left, I opened the storm door and engaged the hydraulic lock to keep it open. The door immediately fell out of the frame. The cheap chromed installation screws were just long enough to go into the frame wood about 1/8" or less. The trim nails touched nothing at all.

The install was easy and it looks great except for the paint, it looked like it needed another coat of paint, it had spots where you could see the primer.

Works great, if used lightly
Quality Going downhill. I have installed this model door on a lot of homes they are truly simple to install. The problem i have seen is the longevity. The fit and finish is poor. The z bar that holds the hinges seems to always be offset and it causes the hinges to wear themselves out and cut through
The washers on the Z-bar. This causes the door
To fall out of square and the little screws to pull out of the hinge. Would like to see a more robust hinge for the money. Great door for the first couple years but not a product that will stand the test of time.

Totally broken after one year
After one year the roll up screen is completely unusable. I wouldn’t recommend this door to anyone. Andersen and HD have refused to help.

Good storm door with some flaws
I ordered this storm as a replacement of old door from Home Depot. It took around a month to be delivered. I got it installed just to discover metal plate on top of the door (see attached picture) is not aligned resulting in door getting stuck. I had to call a professional who removed the metal plate and cut out a small piece and put it back. Now it is working fine and opening fine.

NEEDS CHAIN
WHY ONE STAR? To get your attention. The storm door is very good. BUT It should come with a chain to keep the door from swinging open it high winds. GET ONE ! Costs about $8.00.
After installation the installer warned me that there can be a vacuum between the storm door and the main door which may keep the storm door from clicking shut. I was not advised nor did I think to get a chain which would keep the storm door from swinging out past 90 degrees and becoming damaged in high wind. Now my jam is cracked and both pneumatic closers are broken. Come on Andersen it a cheap part. Include it. Damage not covered by warranty.

We do not recommend installing wind chain on our storm doors. Our experience, which is backed up by tests conducted by our Engineering department, is that a wind chain does not significantly increase the ability of the door to resist wind damage. In fact, our tests indicate that, under certain conditions, the presence of a wind chain may actually increase the likelihood of damage to the door and door jamb. Because of this, we strongly discourage the installation of wind chains on our doors and do not offer one. If you wish, you can certainly install a third-party wind chain on your door. However, if you do this, please be aware of the fact that any damage due to the presence of a wind chain would be excluded from coverage under the terms of the door's Warranty. Also, it would not be possible to install wind chain at the top since it may damage or affect the operation of the retractable screen. We want to assist you with your concern. Broken Hinge
We have absolutely loved this door. It was not difficult to assemble or install. It has been great until the hinge broke. Now it does not close right and is putting stress on the closing mechanism. A $400 dollar for should not have a hinge break in less then a year. Will be trying to work with Anderson to get a replacement.

Broken Hinge 3 Times in Less than 7 months.
I Have replaced this piece twice already. This is the third time it has snapped in less than 7 months of use. I don't have small children or animals that would do this damage. This last time, I opened the door to near fully open to accept a package and snap.

Had this door for about a year and then bracket for closer device broke. I am ashamed for the engineer who designed it so weak.
