Never thought I would be saying I love a toilet but this one is terrific. First of all it is very attractive, looks kind of vintage, like something you might see in the Biltmore House. The back is tall and has a fancy handle. The toilet is slightly more narrow and taller making it easier to sit and stand. The flushing mechanism is powerful. No need for that second flush. I am going to save up and put one in my second bathroom. I highly recommend this product.

This is such a nice looking toilet model. I could not be happier. Look at the detail at the base and the lid. It is a double row of decorative edge. The lid also has an indented feature which is also elegant looking. Even the flusher is fancy. We decided to install this new toilet ourselves. Since the old toilet had been a replacement maybe 15-20 years ago and we did not do anything with the current tile it seemed doable. I had also made sure the shutoff was good. Since we did not need a plumber for shutoff replacement or flange repair and had written instructions and watched many home shows on tv install, we felt we were good to go. Before the shipment of the toilet arrived which took about 8 business days, I went out and purchased a wax ring with rubber attached, bolts, caulking and had a saved seat from another round front bowl. What I didnt realize I needed was a new water supply connector. This was a taller model than my old one, with no extra length on the old connector 9 inch. So mid install, I ran down to the store and bought a 12 inch. But it was about an inch too short. Darn. The problem was, after looking at the shutoff in the other bath, was that this one had the connection on the side of the valve, not on the top. Cheaper to go buy longer one -20inch , was next size in stock, than calling and paying plumber. The install otherwise went fine for our first time. We are very proud of ourselves and so happy for this watersaver, new modern white model.

Had no problems installing. I made sure the bolts to the bowl were very tight with the tool provided. I have had no problems with clogging like I did with the old toilet I replaced. You can't use any old toilet seat though, you have to get one specifically for this toilet.

Easy to install. Looks great. Bottom line --- it is a great flusher!

I am aware that everyone dislikes installing a new toilet due to the fact that the new water standards allow for less flushing action, but this one is designed to overcome that problem to some extent. I don't think I have had anything other than Kohler toilets in the past, this one seems to hold up as well as those. I am not really sure that this one stays cleaner than others as it says though. A bit n the pricier side.

Very quiet flush to this toilet which is great because it is in our master bath! Like it very much and think it is very good buy. I do not like the champion seat I chose-but the toilet itself is great!

American Standard is always good quality and the style fits my home.

This toilet functions okay. We have a Champion in the elongated style at another house which works better. The holes for the seat are not perfectly located so the seat looks crooked when installed..

Ordinarily we wait a long time before writing a review but I can't say enough good things about this toilet we've had four months. Unlike other new toilets that you hear horror stories about, this toilet flushes great, just like it's suppose too. We will always pay a little more for quality, and that's exactly what we got with this purchase. Also, the style suits our 1925 house perfectly.

This toilet is practically noiseless and uses hardly any water, which are two things that were important to me. I love the look. My only issue is, it was rather expensive. But it has a classic look that makes it look a little fancier than a plain toilet.

Really great toilet. A bit more money that I really wanted to spend, but I think overall well worth it. We installed one Champion 4 1.6 right height round toilet in one bathroom five years ago and have been so pleased with it, we ordered 2 more for our other bathrooms. Our older house has the expected pipe issues and this toilet flushes everything in one flush down our lines... not just leaving a "puddle" in the pipe under the toilet.

I like that it's a two piece toilet so that it's easy to install. You install the base then add the tank on after you bolt the bottom to the floor. The 1.6 gallons per flush saves lots of water without the worry of being clogged. It looks great and works as expected. I don't see any issues with this toilet.

It's weird to say, but I love this toilet. The most important thing about any toilet is obviously function. The Portsmouth Champion toilet hits this out of the park. I recently saw a Home Depot commercial showing it flushing a bunch of golf balls down the drain, and although I would never try this at home, it's not because I don't think this toilet couldn't handle it. The sound of the flush alone is impressive, but when the water starts swirling around and then leaves the toilet in a flash, nothing is ever left behind. It's also a very attractive piece. At first I installed it in the bath that we consider to be for the kids, however, it really didn't match the decor. It certainly has a more traditional feeling to it, something that belongs back in the 1930's maybe. So I moved it to another bath in which the decor includes bead board and hardware that is satin nickel with "ivory" handles. This was perfect and worth the extra time it took to reinstall it. One note, the height of this toilet is fairly tall, much taller than the average toilet and even counter height. This was unexpectedly important to me; it was first installed next to a counter and looked awkward because it was so much higher. However, once it was moved to another bath, away from the counter, it looked great. Installation was a breeze. It didn't come with a seat, wax ring, or supply line, which is why I gave it a 4/5 for value, however everything else was fairly typical if you ever installed a toilet before. All of the connections were solid, and I liked how there were only 2 bolts to fasten the tank to the seat. Finally, it is a very heavy toilet, much heavier than any other toilet that I have ever installed. I would think this speaks to quality.

One word... WOW. Would I expect anything less then the best quality in a product from American Standard. The Toilet was packaged professional, both the Tank and the Bowl. The innards as I call them were superior and draws you attention to the overall quality of the product. Flawless exterior finish, clear and concise installation instructions, ease of installation and finally the best overall feeling once ready to use THAT THIS IS THE BEST. The best is the style of the Bowl tank combo. A pleasure the eyes and fits rights in with the Claw Foot tub recently installed. On the critics, there is nothing that one would need to bring to the vendors attention. This one is a graded a 10 out of 10 and then some.

My wife love this new toilet. We are both older now so a comfort height is much needed for both of us. Easy to install and surely I will change all the other toilet in our house with this same model.

Bought this to go with my new bathroom. My old toilet was fine, but cheap. This one looks a lot nicer and works great!

I purchased this toilet from Home Depot after much research. I needed something with a higher seat after hip surgery. It flushes anything and everything with very little water. No need to ever reflush. Very elegant looking...a real throne! I bring all of my guests into the bathroom to show it off and have sold two more of them to my friends. I am now looking into replacing my other toilet which is in a small bathroom and needs a corner tank. Thankfully American Standard also makes the Champion model with a corner tank. The only possible drawback is that the tank is very tall and could be a problem if you have over the toilet storage unit. Make sure you have enough shelf space. I would highly recommend this toilet. You won't be disappointed. I do wish it came with a seat for the price.

Fantastic toilet! Major upgrade from regular old toilets!

The toilet works as good or better than expected - and does a great job of moving 'material' through it without clogging.

This is seriously the worst toilet I have ever used. It flushes just fine. The problem is first of all the bowl is too small and shaped weird. It is also the most uncomfortable toilet you will ever sit on. Lastly, it sits too high off the ground. If you slide your feet back your on your tip toes. The worst though is just how uncomfortable it is. I hate this toilet. I am going to go buy another one that's how awful it is.

Looks very classic and can finally flush with confidence! Perfect toilet.

We had a Kohler toilet, which the previous owners of our house installed when they renovated the bathroom a few years ago. It was lovely, and was continuously getting stopped up. In stark contrast, the American Standard Champion 4 has not plugged up once since we got it. It looks just as good as the Kohler. Great product. With hindsight, I am not sure I should have gotten the right-height version. It is a bit too high to be fully comfortable.

I was surprised at how large the unit seems in the space. It is not that much bigger than the old fashion toilet we replaced but the height makes it more imposing.This should be considered when determining placement in a small space. It also has more style than the picture shows. It looks to me, Euro-Victorian in style. We like the fact that is not as bland -looking as the toilets on display at HD. There is a trick to installing the tank. Someone has to kneel on the toilet holding the tank level while someone else has to alternately tighten the tank bolts down (but not too tight) until snug. THIS IS Not a one-person job. But once you fasten the tank this way, it is solid. The handle is harder to push down because it moves a 4 inch flapper but when the toilet flushes, it flushes! I am waiting for my replacement tank lid as the original lid was a bit chipped and cracked part-way through in the back, ( be sure to inspect this part). We have not used this toilet for very long but so far we are pleased with the way it works.

This toilet looks nice and is a comfortable height for both the bowl and the tank. It has been installed for about 5 weeks with no issues. Installation was easy on the first try with simple tools.

I'm very happy with my selection. Not only does this toilet compliment my décor it has the best flushing system.

I wasn't completely convinced that this would flush as good as they said it would, but I was hopeful. I am now totally amazed that I can clean out the dog kennel with a shovel and flush it down instead of bagging it.

This unit is a little more expensive but looks great and has better trim and finish than the lowest-price Champion models. I also recommend 1.6 gpf over the 1.28 gpf. I own one of each, and the 1.28 gpf unit always leaves me a little nervous that everything went down in the flush.

Received this AS Champion 4 toilet promptly and it was packed very good. Good price. It is heavy, so I had it installed. GREAT FLUSHING!

The toilet is just what was advertised and has the best flush I have seen for a gravity type toilet.
