Nice valve, simple way select shower/handheld/tub, careful on hole size
The valve is very good quality, has a nice solid feel to it when used. It is perfect to select the flow to showerhead, hand shower, and tub with a single valve. It does not have any stops or detents. so you just turn it around until the water comes out where you want in one of the three positions. The valve body can be oriented any way needed to plumb it, and the handle set to any rotation position that makes sense to the user. It may reduce your shower pressure/volume a bit since it is yet another valve restriction point after your main shower control, so if you have low water pressure you may notice it. My pressure is 70psi so no problem.
The faceplate (separate kit) is TOO SMALL, so be careful about cutting the hole for it. The hole size needed does not correlate well with the blue plastic piece that is supposed to indicate where the tile is to be cut around. Instead, set aside the plastic piece and assemble the faceplate and handle assy kit n it before cutting any holes. Take a look at the assembled shaft behind the faceplate and use the minimum hole needed for this section on the tile or outer surface (probably about 1 inch). Otherwise you may end up doing the tile twice to fix a gap between the tile hole and the small faceplate. Am Std should really make the faceplate about 1 inch larger diameter, no reason not to and would avoid this risk. Or redesign the blue plastic piece so it makes sense.
