LIFE CHANGING! I've tried several filters and this one is superior to ALL others. My rescue dogs have skin allergies. Their paws, ears and stomach would get red with dry patches, dander and a dull coat a few times a year. I noticed when I changed the filter, the redness went away within 1-2 days & their coat remained shiny. The vet visits, ointment and treatment were expensive. Haven't had a breakout since using this brand & changing filter once every 2 1/2 - 3 months.

    Allergy Zone Furnace filter 20x30x1
Used this filter for a room (650 sq ft) and has performed in my opinion, better than the last one I had. Noise level as it takes in airflow is very quiet. Dust on plantation shutters, lamp shades and various furniture has not accumulated as much using this filter. FQT rating of 12 is extremely high which protects allergy sufferers from those miserable days of sneezing and itchy eyes. Would definitely buy again.

    Allergy Zone furnace filter.
After installing these filters, I finally can develop a decent review since it's been in use for a month now. The design indicates 24 pleats, metal wire mesh imbedded in filter material and has a yellow/gold tint as compared to the white color of many other brands. The specs of this filter is 20x25x1 and an FQT rating of 12. Last filter I used (different brand) had a total of 28 pleats, metal wire mesh encased the filter material and not embedded and had an FQT rating of 10. One thing I noticed about Allergy Zone's filter is that it's quiet as it takes in airflow unlike some other filters I have used prior. The construction of the filter was a bit defective as the sides were squeezed as to not form a perfect square. Not sure if it was due to shipping or just encased in it's protective plastic a little too tight. Performance is up to par as I noticed less dust particles inside our bedroom and my allergies have been in check since installation. Disclaimer, I also have an air purifier inside the room, so coupled with this product I think it's an excellent guard for allergy sufferers.

Allergy Zone FPR 12 Air Filter
I apologize in advance for this lengthy review, but we as consumers often overlook the importance of seemingly simple items that we use in our homes every day. Upon doing a bit of research, I find that there is an almost overwhelming amount of varying opinion in regard to the appropriate air filtration required and/or recommended for the conventional home heating and cooling system. There are two common rating systems, MERV (minimum efficiency reporting value) and FPR (Filter Performance Rating) used for home air filters. Both rating systems are similar. I recently installed Allergy Zone’s FPR 12 (Filter Performance Rating) air filters on our two air intakes in our home and I will attempt to give an honest opinion on these filters based upon my limited knowledge and use. My nephew is a very reputable and highly respected HVAC professional with his own very successful business on the East coast of Florida. I asked his opinion and this was his take on home air filtration: “For my own home, I use a standard FPR 6 or FPR 8 pleated filter. These are relatively inexpensive (approximately $4.50 each). The manufacturer states to change the filter every 3 months, but I change mine monthly. This definitely keeps an appropriate air flow moving through the system which optimizes the heating and cooling systems efficiency. This in turn helps to save your HVAC system, saves on higher energy costs and for the most part eliminates costly coil cleaning services before they are needed” I personally value his opinion very highly. I have also included a small passage from Bob Villas This Old House website which basically confirms what my nephew was saying above. Attribution: From Bob Villa, This Old House Higher Is Not Better You might think that a higher MERV (minimum efficiency reporting value) rating would automatically be better, but it’s not. The higher the MERV rating, the smaller the pores are for air to flow through an HVAC filter. This can create more resistance in airflow than a system is designed to manage, thus making it inefficient. Reducing the air flow in your system can actually worsen the air quality in your home and put a damaging amount of pressure on the fan of your furnace or AC system. So it is worth doing some research. Find out what the highest MERV rated filter is that still allows for maximum airflow in your system. Change Filters Often Filters with higher MERV ratings need to be changed more frequently (at least every three months) to avoid restricted airflow that can cause your system to work inefficiently or possibly even damage it. We discovered that our MERV filters are a custom size, which makes them about three times more expensive than standard-size filters you can buy at big box stores. When you’re changing filters four times a year, that really adds up. So if you’re working with a builder to design a system, keep that in mind. As has happened so many times in this home-building journey, I discover I don’t even know what I don’t know! But figuring out what that MERV rating on my filter actually means does make me breathe a little easier. End Attribution In Summary: 1) The Allergy Zone FPR 12 filter may be appropriate for persons that suffer from chronic allergy symptoms. 2) A higher FPR value is not necessarily better. Advertising for a product most of the time highlights what will make you buy a product, i.e. “It has a higher rating, so it must be better” 3) Change filters regularly to optimize your homes heating and air condition systems performance and efficiency. Select a filter rating that matches your homes heating and cooling system. A reputable HVAC professional will be able to determine this for you. 4) Be informed. If you suffer from allergies from numerous different airborne particulate, the Allergy Zone FPR 12 filter may be an appropriate choice. Based upon my review of the Allergy Zone FPR 12 home air filter, I would rate the quality as 4 stars. They appear to be well made and the fit into our system was excellent. I have no definitive proof (other than advertising) that they actually perform as stated. I would rate the Allergy Zone FPR 12 air filter at 3 stars for value as they are roughly 3x the price of a lower FPR filter and if you do not need this higher rating why pay for it. I will add one more item. The very inexpensive filters that recommend changing every 30 days are probably not a wise choice.

Seems like a Nice Upgrade over Standard Filter
Having used this filter for approximately 2 weeks now, we have noticed a substantial difference in air quality over the standard filters that we were using in the past. I really don't know if its because I'm paying more attention now or that fact that everyone seems to not be sneezing or itching their eyes as much since changing to these filters. They seem a lot thicker than the standard cheap filters that you can get just about anywhere. I was hoping that because they were thicker they would cut down on air flow but it doesn't seem to be affecting it for now. As for all the technical info, I can't speak on that. I just can attest to the fact that air quality seems to have gotten better since replacing the old green horsehair like filters with these and only time will tell if they work.

    Quality Air Filter
I picked these up with the hope that they will help a little with my horrible allergies. I typically use the basic pleated filters that HD sells. These are definitely an upgrade in terms of construction and materials quality. The filter slot on my furnace is a little tight and the cheaper filters tend to bend when I insert them. The frame for this filter was a little more rigid and I didn't have that problem. Also the filtration material is thicker and hopefully will remove more pollen than the lesser brands. According to the packaging it is superior in capturing and holding dirt and particles and also allows better airflow through the filter as it gets dirty. When I replaced the old, dirty filter I did notice an significant increase in air flow but I will have to wait and see if this level of airflow continues after a month or two of use.

    Allergy Sufferers Delight
I would give this filter 5 stars but not everything is perfect. My wife and son, myself included, all have allergies. I change our filters every 3 months and sometimes 2 months. Right now with all the unexpected warm weather we are having in southern Missouri, things are starting to bloom early. This means pollen season is here early. I was given for my honest opinion, 16 in. x 20 in. x 1 in. FPR 10 Air Filter for Allergy Sufferers to evaluate. I am not being paid for this review in any way. When the filter arrived, I took the old one I had in and replaced it with the new filter. My old filter was just changed about 2 weeks ago. I have two Beagles that are house dogs so we have hair and dander everywhere. We just replaced the carpet with Pergo flooring from Home Depot to help with the hair problem. I began to notice a difference after about one week of the new filter install. We were all sneezing less and there seemed to be less dust laying on the wood furniture. My wife usually has puffy eyes and they often tear up as well. She said she was not feeling as bad as she normally does since we changed filters. All in all I would recommend this filter to all who suffer from allergies, or just want a cleaner home. They are no more expensive than the others and you can buy them in four packs. Change one every three months and you have a year's supply.

great return air filters, especially for allergy sufferers.
These are great furnace filters for the whole house air return duct. The packaging is very informative. The labeling gives great detail about the benefits of these filters for allergy sufferers over standard filters. The filters actually have helped with my wife's allergies. She has suffered with allergy symptoms for years and saw a marked improvement once we installed these filters. The filters seem to be sturdy and carry a rating from ASHRAE of a 12 on the filter quality triangle. This means that they achieve a high level of particle holding capacity, efficiency, and air flow. Overall, I am impressed with these over the filters that we have been using. I did notice that these filters did not fit quite as tight in the duct as our other filters have.

    Great dust collector
Just replaced the old standard air filter with the FPR Air Filter for Allergy Suffers filter last week after they arrived; it has already collected dust as visible on the filter surface. My wife has allergies and with the air from the heat pump circulating quite a bit during the latest cold spell has been doing quite a bit of sneezing and having headaches. After using the new filter for a week she states that the sneezing and headaches are less severe. The outside framing is much stronger than the standard filters also and seem to make a more secure fit in the filter opening.

The right answer for asthma or allergy prone persons
While many filter manufacturers focus only on removing particles from the air processed by a heating or cooling system the Allergy Zone filter is engineered to not only remove allergy producing particles but continue to allow the free passage of air to the system. It will keep doing this for up to three months. These filters will hold up to 60 percent more particulate than other leading brands and are recommended by leading allergy and asthma doctors for symptom relief. The filters will remove pet dander, mold spores and pollen grains-the main culprits for allergy and asthma sufferers.

    Seems to work as advertised
The wife suffers from allergies and this seemed to help her nightly breathing. Previous filter by Honeywell was rated at a "7" and this one is rated at a "12" . I am note sure the two rating systems are equal or have a standard. Size was correct and packed well. They recommend a 90 change between filters and I usually change at 30 days. Would I buy it again, YES!

    collects lots of dust
This filter works good, almost too good. What I try to determine when looking at different air filter materials to evaluate for the "main type" to use is not only the amount of dust and particles stuck into the filter, but the airflow into the air handler itself. While this product promotes that it's for allergy sufferers, it is difficult to determine that it accomplishes that purpose in only a month's time. What I did see in 30 plus days is that these filters can hold a lot of dust particles. So much so that the filter seems to collect a lot of particulates especially in the creases or valleys of the pleats of the filter. This is also where I notice a big difference in the negatives of the filter vs. the positives. Positive is that these filters remove a lot of particulates from the air which is great. The negative is the diminished air flow into the handler causing the system to work harder to produce a good volume of air at the registers.

Great quality and seems to help
These Allergy filters come in a pack of 4. They are 16"x25"x1". They are suppose to reduce the allergens throughout the house. The filter material is truly more heavy duty when you compare it to a basic filter. The filter works with heating and air conditioning systems which is what we have. They are easy to install, you simply slide the old filter out and then slide the new one in, it fit perfectly in our system. Since it is currently summer we put our new filter in and used our air conditioning for about two weeks and the air quality felt good. I suffer often from headaches however I often don't like to use the air conditioning because I can't stand feeling closed in, in the summer however this filter did seem to make the air feel a bit better while being closed in!

High Quality Allergy Rated Pack for year long filtering
This is a four filter package designed to last the entire year providing a change of filter every three months. Allergy Zone filters are listed as being designed for allergy suffers, with highly rated filtering material that claims to convert your heating and air conditioning system into a whole house air cleaner. Each filter is rated a 12 on the filter quality triangle scale, indicating a maximum score of 4 in three categories, holding capacity, air flow, and filter quality. Each filter has dense looking yellow filter material, which should produce a good contrast between clean and dirty. After a month, the filter has done a good job of removing dirt, and while it is showing signs of discoloring as its doing its job, it should last anther two months before changing. Filter is well made with a fairly rigid cardboard frame. Installation was easy, filter kept its shape as it was installed in the opening. Filter provided good air flow through-out our home, and based on little dust accumulating on our furniture, it was highly effective in cleaning the air. Overall, an economical multipack of high quality filters.

    Allergy Free, So Far!
I bought these to test out my wife's allergies. I didn't tell her that I swapped them for our old cheap filters. We have been running them for about 10 days now and she has not complained about allergies. She used to take over the counter medicine to calm her running nose, but this past week she hasn't had to take as much as before. I don't know if this is a true test, but for us I believe these filters help out! Very high quality filters and we will be using these during the allergy season.

AllergyZone Air Filter - Great Deal!!!
First off, Purchased this about 1 month ago. The price was great!! Got a 4-pack! Secondly, this was rated at FRP 10 by HomeDepot. But it does NOT say anything about the rating on the actual product. Price-wise, it is equivalent to other filters that are FRP 7. I am reluctant to trust the HomeDepot rating 100%, so I would drop down the FRP rating to 9. Still a great deal none-the-less. Thirdly, it is about the same size and fit as Filtrete brand filter that I previously used. (SEE PICS) The AllergyZone filters are on the LEFT of the pictures. The USED Filtrete filters are on the right. The color of AllergyZone filter is yellow. It does not have as many pleats as the Filtrete brand, but still plenty. More pleats can mean more restrictions on the air-flow. So on the discussion of pleats, use your own judgement/opinion. Overall a great value and good quality from that I can see and inspect. Would buy again if the price is the same.

    Works great, sleeping better
These filters work great and are an incredible value. I've had one in our system for two weeks now and I've been sleeping better, and having fewer allergy symptoms since installing it. I don't know that it will keep this up for 3 months, but anything that helps ease my allergies is good. I don't know if these really do filter out everything the packaging says they do, but they've been doing a great job so far. At the same price as a level 10 filter or even less these are a great deal.

    good filters for the price
I decided to try this to compare with a similar one made by swiffer that I had used previously. I got 2 months out of the swiffer and looking at these they are very similar and I expect to get about the same. I have 3 dogs so someone with fewer creatures around would probably get more out of them. These in the 20x30 seem to run a little smaller than the swiffer but they are not so small that they get sucked into the return although they do flex inward a tad. The rating is nice and using this type of filter has indeed helped with my allergies. This is a particularly bad year here because there is drought and it is very dry which means more particulates flying about. I would places these on a pretty even par with the swiffer. In this 4-pack I think they run just a little less so they might be a slightly better deal. Either one does the job well with the swiffer fitting just a little better than this one for me.

    Quality A/C Filters
Installed first filter 5/30, 25 days later I decided to change first one and add to both air handlers. Compare used left with new right. While not to dirty it did a good job., This filter was mounted vertically. The second filter is in a dual filter holder which is horizontal and has a much better seal. Overall, this is a very good filter and could be used longer than 25 days, I live in the middle of farm land and it filters out much of the dirt and pollen

    good filter for the money
Figuring out which is the best rated but still affordable air filter for the HVAC system in your home can be a challenge-especially if the air quality is especially poor or there are people in the home with allergies or sensitivities, etc. Home Depot uses their own rating system. "The Home Depot's Air Filter Performance Rating (FPR) System aims to make it even easier to compare brands by presenting a ranking system in an easy-to-read chart/rating based upon the filters' 1) ability to capture large particles, 2) ability to capture small particles, 3) and weight gain (filter lifetime)." This is what the term "Filter Quality Triangle" rating system refers to and "the FPR rating system is designed for the sake of simplicity. The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) designed a rating system known as Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV). MERV ratings run from 1-20, designating the effectiveness of filers to capture smaller and smaller minimum particle sizes. The higher the MERV rating, the better, and this rating system is the best for determining filter efficiency." These HD Allergy Sufferer filters have a FPR rating of 10 and a MERV rating of 11 and a Filter Quality Triangle rating of 12 according to the specs on the HD website. For the money this is a very good filter. "As Chris Gardner over at BobVila.com points out, buyers should skip over the most affordable and common fiberglass spun filters, with a paltry MERV rating of 2-3. For just a few dollars more, disposable pleated models bump up the MERV rating to 6, while disposable electrostatic cotton or paper fiber filters rate at 10 and are probably the best option for those balancing budget vs. performance. Those with deep pockets and bad allergies can invest in a deep hi-efficiency pleated filter with a 14-16 MERV rating matched with a $100 price tag." I hope you find this information helpful.

The Best way to beat the allergy season
I like many others suffer from allergies including my wife's cat. To reduce the contaminates in my home, I found it necessary to upgrade to a 12 FPR filter. I also had my ducts cleaned in order to get the most out of the Allergy Zone filters. Have you wondered why some filters will last longer than others, even though they are the same size? Here is a picture of two Home Depot filters (Allergy Zone and the Store brand). At first glance they look similar but count the number of rib in the one on the left (25 pleats) has 6 more pleats than the one on the right (19 pleats). That means it has more surface area to filter with than the other one. What does that mean to you? It means that the filter will trap more particles and dust before there is a decrease in the A/C performance. Other filters stop up quicker and reduce air flow, making your A/C work harder. With the two ply Allergy Zone filter, you get one layer to trap large particles and another layer to trap smaller particles thus eliminating nearly all contaminates. Shown is the grill over the back side of the filter, which is missing from the other brand. Both have metal grills covering the front side. Here is a BIG item to consider. If you have been using less than a 12 FPR filter rating, like the Allergy Zone filter, you will more than likely have dust and other contaminates sticking to the inside of your ducts. Switching to the Allergy Zone filter will eliminate further dust and contaminates from being added but it alone will not remove what is already there. To remove the residue left by other filters, I would recommend having your ducts cleaned in order to get the most benefit from using the Allergy Zone filter. Here are some specs that I think are helpful in deciding, is this the filter for me. Spec Allergy Zone Other Brand Weight: 9 oz 5.3 oz Length 24.5 25 Width 19.5 20 Pleats 25 19 Layers 2 1 I have a down flow system, so keep that in mind when you look at your system. I wanted to extend the life of my Allergy Zone filter by adding a per-filter to catch the larger particles of dust and dirt before they hit the Allergy Zone filter. The two pictures show the Allergy Zone filter in the filter housing and the per-filter laying on top. I use a less expensive filter on top since it only needs to trap large particles.

Good filter for allergy relief, minor sizing issues
These Allergy Zone 20 in. x 30 in. x 1 in. air filters contain good quality filter elements that have done a good job of filtering out dust in my family's heating and air conditioning system. We keep a lot of windows and sliding doors open when the weather is nice, so there's quite a bit of dust that comes in from outside, but these filters seem to keep up without a problem. They have more pleats and are made of nicer materials than similarly sized bargain filters. This helps capture more dust and allows more efficient air passage through the system. They have some minor sizing issues that can cause trouble however. They seem to run to slightly smaller dimensions than other air filters in the 20 x 30 x 1 specification. This can cause the filter to fit loosely or not at all in systems rated for this size filter. Unfortunately they are also a bit more expensive than other similarly sized filters. The manufacturer claims they provide superior protection against many allergens, and are designed with a unique filter material that will not permit microbial growth. They do appear to be different than some other filters I have on hand to compare them to. Overall though I like them and would recommend them for anyone suffering from allergies caused by common things like pollen and pet dander. If you can find them on sale, they are well worth trying out for yourself.

the way i decide if they work or not
So, I don't have asthma kids, but what I do have is dogs, dogs that leave hair trails and dust everywhere. The way I judge if air cleaners work is by the amount of dust reduction. These have helped a ton. They say 95% of particles are removed, I am happy with that. I have found the higher the allergen removal the less air flow, not what I am looking for. These have a supportive outside frame and I have included pics of what the filter looks like. Not heavy, very easy to place and big dust reducer, works for me!!!

    whats needed
I was afraid that these filters would hinder air flow but was pleasantly surprised they do not. They have a very high air flow even though they filter up to 95 percent of most allergens. The package says it has up to 60 percent better air flow than some other filters and I believe it. Seems to be better flow than my old filters. Such an easy fix to help stop the sneezing in the family. Has a filter quality rating of 12 which is better than old filter with more air flow. NICE,

    Max filtration
I should start by admitting I don't use these filters in their traditional manner... that is, I don't put them in an HVAC unit. I actually attach them to a box fan (on the air intake side) in order to filter out dust traveling between a wood shop and our laundry/boiler room. Since dust is very bad for a boiler and I don't enjoy dusting every time I work in the wood shop, this filter does the trick well. I discovered the box fan and filter idea on Pintrest and haven't had to dust the washer, dryer, and furnace for a few weeks now. I chose these filters for the FPR10 rating, thickness (1/8" thicker than most) and the "dual-layer electrostatic filtration media which improves small particle capture" (that's dust, mold, pollen, and other allergens I'm likely stirring up in our old basement). The four pack is handy and for my use, each filter will likely last longer than the recommended 90 days.

What a difference in air quality
My roommate is allergic to cats so I got these to see if it helps her because I have a fluffy cat. I did notice a difference after two days, the air is so much cleaner. The filters are ready to use, perfect size. I compared to my old filter and they are the same. I've had the filter for a month and my roommate says she noticed the difference. The air that blows out of the vents is cleaner and since we still have the heat on we needed a good filter.

    Worth the investment
My family recently replaced our old 30 year old furnace, and the thing the installers stressed the most for maintenance and extending the life of the furnace is to be vigilant with replacing the filter every 2-3 months. Since this furnace was a very large investment, I want to get the most out of it so I am going to be swapping the filter every 2 months on the clock with a quality air filter which is why I am using these. I know there is only a minor difference between a FPR 9 and FPR 10, but I figured the cost is negligible enough to just go with the 10. We keep three cats and two dogs in this home, with a little bit of carpeting in the house. So I feel a quality air filter will really make the difference.

    Good filters, high price
Yes, these are awesome air filters. They have an unusual yellow color that I have never seen on a filter before. I have used it for several months and I did notice a decrease in my indoor allergy symptoms (sneezing, coughing, running nose, etc). I have no pets but when it came time to change the filter it was loaded with dust and stuff. The packaging of the product claims it's three main points are capturing, retaining (not falling off or going through), and efficiency (not blocking air flow back to the air handler). The filters do what they claim, I am just not clear on why the premium price, and I there isn't any clear justification why these filters should cost more. There are other competing products that I have had similar results with but at a more economical value.

    Decent filters, poorly sized
These seem like decent air filters. I haven't noticed a distinct improvement in any allergies in our house, but they certainly don't seem be any worse. I don't have the ability to measure parts per billion of dust microbes in the air, so I cannot reasonably say that these do what they claim with any sort of empirical evidence. I can only say they seem to be working and no one is complaining of allergy attacks. The problem with the filters is the size. They are a little smaller than 16" x 25." The actual dimensions are 15-1/2" x 24-1/2," and the width actually gets smaller in the middle of the filters - as narrow as 15-1/8." The 24-1/2" length is not that much of an issue, but the width is. When I put one of them in, it was far looser than my previous filter, to the point that there was an air gap above the filter where it should have been sitting against the metal flange, particularly at the mid-point, where the width is another 1/4" to 3/8" narrower. I ended up wedging it in between the flanges just to try and prevent an unfiltered air gap from existing. Despite that, there is still a gap. I don't consider that to be an acceptable installation. You can see the measured dimensions in my photos, and a comparison with my previous filter. Just based on the size discrepancy, I would not buy again.

Will be a great help for my allergies
I have acquired over the past few years some really bad allergies from dust, mold, mites, and the dreaded hay fever. I have been looking for good quality furnace filters now that the furnace has to be up and running over the colder months here in Pennsylvania. This filter boosts 95% capture of airborne particles such as pollens, dust mites mold spores and all sorts of animal dander. I own no dogs or cats but do have a large parrot and two love birds. clean air for pennies a day each filter last up to 3 months. It is rated 12 "Filter Quality Triangle tm" which is superior performance and proven effective in clinical trials. It also is make here in the United States. I immediately changed the filter upon the delivery of the filters and feel better already. I am sure it will take a little bit of time until I can prove the results but I am confident that this product will meet my expectations. I will use this product and change it every three months as directed and see the results of better quality of circulated clean air in our home. Thanks Allergy Zone and Home depot for providing a great product for allergy sufferers such as I.
