It was out of the crate and fully assembled when I picked it up from the store. It started up easily after checking the oil and filling it with gas. It is next to a ZTR in that the 16" turning radius has cut my mowing time by about an hour. The automatic transmission is also very easy to use. I am very happy with this mower.

I get my lawn cut much quicker then with my 22" push mower. I have about 3/4 of an acre to cut and with the tractor it takes me about an hour. The great thing about the tractor is that my daughter can mow the lawn with me now.

this machine was awesome for the first month and then the transmission went the rider would drive but not break - once you place the unit in gear it would stay in gear . in order to stop the machine you would have to turn it off completely - sooo the warranty and repair process - authorized ariens dealer and repair are few and far between , no biggy. but then the ariens company would only replace parts which the dealer explained it needed a new transmission .3 transmissions shipped... all cracked during shipping its mid june the machine has been in repair sense april - - zero compensations accept a sorry from ariens company - my acre and a half wont mow itself .

Mower works well and all of my previously purchased rear attachments work but, my Home Depot salesman assured me that my brand new snow plow from the winter before I bought for my Club Cadet 46",( that died )would work on this. Guess what, this riding mower does not take front attachments at all. Now I have a lovely 400.00 plow that is unusable and I don't want a snow blower(which is the snow removal attachment available for this machine). When the snow is 2ft deep my mower won't go through it for the snowblower to be efficient. Better informed salesman would have made a big difference in my purchase because I need a tractor that can plow.

I have enjoyed using this tractor since I got it. Good investment.

We got the mower a month later than we wanted. When we finally got it out of the crate that took several cuts and bruises, it was not put together fully. The connections were not attached and we can't get it started. After talking to warranty place I was told to call Carsins and have them come look at it. Carsins does not do home visit only pick up. Homedepot will not allow the to come pick up from me to be fixed. Now I am waiting on another company to call back and get a service person out. This is a nightmare and we have a $2000 piece of equipment sitting infront of our garage that doesn't work. I am beyond aggravated and frustrated. I wish I could have returned it. However I was informed it was only 30 day return policy from date of order. But we didn't get possession of the machine until after 30 days.

IF something breaks don't expect ariens to fix them they will find a reason to void there warranty and the mowers Spindle beaks easy had to replace it in a month after getting it and had to pay for it and push nut for pedal breaks all the time done changed it ten times in seven months to some it up this mower is no good

this tractor is easy to handle and cuts very well and is not to noisy but I have had it for 3 months and the transmission is gone well at least it is still under warranty

took 45 minutes to get it out of the crate and the guy will not stay to inspeak it. when i got it open the battery was dead they put a 2013 battery into a new tractor, The tractor had damage on the front from shipping. The hood don,t even go into place. It was boughing out on the 10 hightest cut. It didn,t have the power i wanted. Home depo is sending me a new battery and a gift card 50 dollars . Big deal i thought they would take care of me but the short change me. but at least they are sending a battery and i got a 50 dollar gift card. that about it. I will give more feedback after i test it more.

Bought a 22hp (Briggs Vtwin) 46inch - hydrostatic trans Ariens in 2011 from Home Depot... best mower ever. I liked it so much I kept an eye on Craigslist and bought a 2nd one (used). I have 10 acres that I mow. 7 acres pasture and about 3 acres lawn. I pulled the mowing deck of the used one and use it to pull my Swisher rough cut trail mower (pastures). I cut my own firewood and fill a 10cu ft cart and my Ariens pulls it w/o problems. I bought a Craftsamn 21/46 for my wife with the toe to go (right foot peddle) and had to ad blocks so that she could fully depress it. After about 10 mins of mowing your right leg gets tired of pushing on that darn peddle. I WILL NEVER buy another mower where you have to keep constant pressure on the peddle to mow. So as far a Ariens mowers go, I really like them ... this model has the toe to go so I would never buy one.

My lawnmower is even better than I expected. I am 69 years old, and I needed a mower that I could handle and that would cut 4 acres. My 42 inch, 20 HP Kohler automatic gas front-engine riding lawnmower is easy for me to handle, and cuts great. Thank You so much for helping me.

The first time I mowed, I ended up with gouges in the grass due to an uneven deck. So I adjusted the deck and after the next mowing the results were even cutting. Though now I'm not sure if it's bad gas or the mower itself. I bought new gas and added Stabil as usual. Was in the middle of mowing when the engine started stuttering. I ended up having to move the lever to the "choke" position for a few seconds and the engine smoothed out. But ended up having to do this a few times before mowing was over. Hoping it doesn't happen again. If so, I'll have to take it in. I like the features of having several mowing heights and a fairly smooth gas pedal. I really like the reverse pedal though I don't understand why you have to move the key to "mow in reverse" position before mowing in reverse then moving it back to normal running position. Why don't they just make it where you can leave it in the mowing in reverse position?

so far it works okay but I am having trouble getting used to the gas pedal. My foot rests funny on it.

I'm very pleased the mower was delivered to my doorstep and came completely assembled, although It did need the battery charged. So far it performs as it was advertised. My only issue is that the operating manual does not match the product. The manual is for Husqvarna so the instructions and descriptions do not match up. I had to basically figure out the starting and operating procedures on my own. Also the engine warranty is from a different manufacturer than advertised. I'm assuming the engine and mower are actually built by companies other than Ariens and Kohler. I think this should have been disclosed somewhere along the purchasing process. I'm sure if I had purchased the mower in a Home Depot store I would have been informed of the actual manufacturers and this wouldn't have been a surprise. My excellent rating is based on a very limited number of hours of run time. If you do not, I suggest a follow-up review one year after purchase, as this would be based on actual performance.

Bought this rider to replace one that was over 10 years old and causing me trouble. I did a lot of research and ended up buying an Ariens and glad I did. I only have about 10 hrs on the mower but so far it has worked flawlessly. The four wheels on the deck keep it from scalping the lawn. Since my yard is uneven, this is a big factor with my satisfaction of this product. The auto transmission works great, although it took me a little time to get used to it. I keep reaching for the gear selector only to find out it's not there! I also find the controls very intuitive. Skimmed the manual for a couple minutes and was off and running, The only issue that i have encountered is that wen my mower was delivered, the steering wheel was not in alignment, A wrench and three minutes later, all was good. From my experience so far, I would definitely recommend this product,

The mower is easy to use and does an excellent job right out of the box. There was an intermittent roaring noise at first, but it seems to have gone away now, so I'll attribute that to the initial breaking-in period. Also, if I could make any changes, I'd add a service counter and an easier-to-use cruise control as it is difficult to get it set. I like that this is a 2 blade mower as they generally seem to mow better than 3 blade mowers. The automatic hydrostatic transmission function smoothy, and the 20HP Kohler engine has plenty of pep.

I ordered this mower via Home Depot.com. It advertised free home delivery. I live in a smaller town where the closest Home Depot is 60 miles away. The trucking company would not deliver the machine to my front door because they could not take an 18 wheeler down the street I lived on and wanted me to meet the truck. The advertisement said free home delivery. I had no way of unloading the heavy thing. It took about 2 weeks and finally an employee of Home Depot in Brookhaven, MS used his personal pickup truck and tailer to deliver it 60 miles from their store. Home Depot also gave me a 10% credit on the purchase for the ordeal. I say, "Hats off to Home Depot and their employees at their Brookhaven, Mississippi Store", even though it took about 10 extra days to get the mower, they did deliver it to my home address. And the real treat was the $150 they credited back to my account. And the mower with the Kohler engine, performs outstanding. If you are going to make a serious power tool purchase, I highly recommend to do it through Home Depot if they have the product you are looking for. At that takes a lot for me to say given my experiences with service from most other stores lately. I don't think Home Depot made much money if any off my purchase, but they did provide outstanding service. In the future, when I'm going to make a purchase, I will go to them first.

Bought it about 2 years ago. We had many problems with it. Very hard to start the engine.

This tractor is awesome! Easy to use, nice driving, cuts grass like a champ and hills are no problem! Very happy!

The mower was awkward at first due to information: 1. how to start the mower 2. how to back up does not match the actual action 3. Turning off the mower, then trying to start it immediately is difficult. 4. Turning was OK 5. Otherwise it was easy to use and put away.

Bought this mower since my parents had an Airens when i was a kid. We used it for about 15 years and had bought it used. Hoping this purchase lasts me 15 years.. Nice and sturdy construction. Runs well.

Great price.I have 54" Ariens for large areas needed one for the Misses!!!
