Assembly can take more than an hour and an extra pair of hands can be helpful. The legs of the arch were few degrees twisted, thus I needed to hammer them on, using a wooden strike plate. I needed to mount two arches onto the top vertical plates first, and only then I could connect them with crossbars. The arch is fixed to the stand with just one push screw per socket, which is inadequate. I added three through-going screws per socket. After top is ready, one can mount two bottom plates. After mounting, middle joints were slightly loose, which made the whole structure wobbly. I added 3-4 screws slightly below and above of each joint. I needed the full height of the structure. Fortunately, arbor legs are hollow, so I ended up hammering 4 pieces of PVC tubing into ground and screw mounted the arbor on top of tubing pieces. And at last, little black spray paint on top of screw-heads and its a solid pleasant looking piece now. The arbor is to support a branch of a weeping cypress that crosses a walkway and tends to bend down after heavy rain. I own the arbor just few weeks, so it remains to be seen is the arbor sturdy enough for that. I took off one star because of the heavy hammering necessary to assemble the top. Another construction-wise critique: crossbars are mounted hanging from their supports. Thus, all the weight of a crossbar and whatever it is meant to hold up, is now supported by four screws in a thin layer of aluminum. Crossbars would be much stronger if they are mounted on top of their supports with mounting screws going upwards - for that supporting brackets need to be welded in different place.

Great arbor for the iron look!
The Manchester II arbor is an excellent choice in terms of quality, appearance, and cost. The painted finish is first rate as are the instructions. I didn’t give an excellent rating on quality because the way the top arch fastens to the sides causes the square risers to warp a little once tightened. A simple drilling of four holes to receive the set screw fixed that. This arbor looks terrific in my back yard; it complements the black iron fences that surround the properties in my neighborhood. The documentation is excellent. Be sure to dig your mounting holes to the dimensions at the four corners of the assembled arch. Otherwise if you measure after assembling the arbor walls you might not get level and square walls. This arbor is beautiful and it improves the value of my house. Looking forward to planting grape vines next fall.

The materials used and the finish is excellent. The reason for this poor rating is the construction. I assembled the sides per instructions using the pre-drilled holes and discovered the upper side section was not plumb to the the lower side. The upper section leaned by about 5 degrees, making the upper vertical bars look crooked. I had to reassemble using a 3/4 inch gap on one side to plumb upper section to bottom.

Only three stars because 1) side panel connections are not strong enough to prevent wobbling, 2) one screw missing and no extras, 3) heads of two screws broke off when installing, 4) weak connection of arch to side panels, and finally 5) inadequate instructions that were barely noticeable on sticker located on outside of box. Nonetheless, it looks good and matches my black aluminum fence.

Sturdy, well built. A couple of the pieces were slightly tweaked which made final setup square and plumb to the world a bit more difficult on a cold, wet day.

The arbor that I receive from Home depot was a return it had been put together and screw holes were striped out on some of the holes . The square tubing had a dent in the bottom leg it had some new screws sent with it but the holes would not tighten up would haven taken it back to Home depot but a round trip would be about 28 miles so i keep it and got new screws and live with the dent in the tubing.

I love this arbor! It is very sturdy and substantial. The height is optimal, as it sits just under the start burst window in my front yard. I am growing star jasmine on it and can't wait for it to climb throughout the arch. Although it was more expensive then many others I saw, the durability and simple elegance are worth the price. I believe the high winds we have in our area will not affect it's stability.

The connections between the arches and the side members should have been made with penetrating bolts and nuts rather than friction screws. I made the change and the unit is much more stable.

        Perfect for the backyard
It was east to assemble. Sturdy. My husband dug the holes to anchor it and it looks great with our fencing! Already have grapes climbing it!

        Looks great!
The arbor looks exactly like I hoped it would! It is plenty tall so when we set it 12 inches in concrete it's still plenty tall enough to grow a vine on and still be high enough to walk under. Most others were not. I love it!
