If you are just a little bit handy this is an easy install. I plan to replace my other two window well covers with this model.

Needed this bigger window well cover for a larger installation. The "protective latch" bolts and fasteners were unused, as the house has ADT alarms on the windows in the well. I used a capped 72" galvanized 1/2 " pipe on the well ends to provide support, and when the cover has surround support, it will indeed support the weight of people, especially children. IMHO well worth the price, despite discarded bolt/ latch parts.

the cover itself is quite thin clear acrylic but the aluminum strips give it the support needed.

Was very easy to install and lets in a ton of light. I was surprised that it was so flexible. I know it won't hold 250lbs but it does protect against a small child or pet. Maybe if it had another support bar or the ones it came with it were less flexible.... One foot applying pressure causes it to bow significantly
