I got this drill specifically to drill some holes in metal. I was building a custom truck flat bed and needed to drill mounting holes in some thick steel square tube and C Chanel. I first started my project with a drill I already had and that started smoking within 1-2 holes. So I had to upgrade and bought a off brand drill and that only lasted 2 holes before it started smoking. Extremely frustrated, I sat back for a second and I decided that If I wanted good results I have to buy something capable of doing the job I needed. So I got this DeWALT drill and it held up so much better then the previous drills. I got through about 4 holes before I needed it to cool down but didn't get it to the point of smoking. I want to say I finished a reminder of 8 more drilled holes to finish the job. After that project I've continued to use this drill for many projects around my shop.

Drill works great for about 4 months then starts to lose power. After 6 months the amateur burnt up. I ordered the new one to stock up another truck but will not be ordering another.

Its a good enough replacement drill when purchased with a coupon or on sale. The drill motor performance and power and internal parts are great. The Bad. There a few area raised sharp ridges left from the plastic molding process. The worst area with sharp edges is the hole for the trigger lock. The handle didn't cut palm of my hand it just felt really uncomfortable and was very disappointing. I carefully deburred a few raised sharp edges and sanded them smooth. My older drills had the 2 plastic halves properly smoothed before assembling the drill. I cannot afford to pay more for a different brand made in the USA.

My 30 year old DW100 drill finally bit the dust, and this is what I got to replace it. I hope it lasts as long as my old Dewalt.

I bought this drill for mixing thin-set for a master bath remodel... it has plenty of power to mix the thin-set and then some. Excellent buy.

Variable Speed and Movable Handle allow me to use both hands. Change position when drilling vertical and horizontal. Purchased a small duffle to hold drill. Perfect combination.

This drill comes without the alignment bar and doesn't have the switch to change from hammer drill to normal drill mode. For an additional $20 I could have bought that version and been a lot happier. A lot of folks are complaining that this doesn't cut it...It's all a function of the hardness of the material your drilling through. I am cutting 3/8 inch holes in a foundation laid down in the late 60's. The cement is hard, and takes about 1 hour per hole. Expect to consume a few bits as you go. I can see how this would cut through cinder block, or "light" cement, but a foundation type of hardness is going to take you a "while"...Spend the extra $20 and get the drill with the option to switch off the "hammer" mode and you'll have a great drill for normal drilling work, too... Includes a nice long cord, and a rubber connector to lock the chuck key on to the power cord. No case. Power handle works great...Says it's made in the USA!!! Yeah!

Normally when I need a drill I grab my cordless, but I had a few tasks that required more torque and this drill delivered. Great Drill.

Stopped working after the third use. Returning it when I have time to drive an hour.

Great drill. Good power. No directions to attach the band to the Chuck. Had to YouTube it.

Drill works well with our 6” hole saw

Needed a corded drill to go along with battery powered ones. It is excellent!
