This is a good tool with a solid feel to it. I find that it is a bit easier for me to use it in the pistol grip orientation rather than straight, but that may be because I am still not fully used to it yet. While using it, I find that I sometimes turn on the lamp without making a conscious effort to do so. The lamp feature is new to me as a previous device was not so equipped. I've been using the tool for a couple weeks (12/9 to present - 12/21). It meets my expectations. I am thankful for the included bit storage case. No I don't have to rummage about looking for the bits I wish to use. A Posi-drive bit and a slotted-phillips combo bit would have been nice to have included with the device since I use them most.

I love this screwdiver. It has plenty of power and the torque function is really nice. The price is a bit much for what you're getting though. I'd give it 5 stars if it was more reasonably priced. if only Ridgid had a comparable product. They offer lifetime warranty on everything including batteries- no one else offers that.

i have 2 of these Makitas... they are amazingly powerful and compact. The only issue i have is that they come in 120V only and in Beirut the power is 220V ... I use a power converter but it would have been nice if they came in 220V ... in conclusion, it is an amazing tool!

Nice tool overall but it feels somewhat underpowered compared to my old Ryobi cordless driver tool (~&10 in 2009 Back Friday ). A bit disappointed for such a pricy tool. I personally find the clutch feature as inconvenient and the light switch as a bad design one since it can be easily turned on unintentionally while operating the tool. I love Makita tools but this one deserves no more than 3 stars in my opinion.

I finally purchased a Makita after wearing out 3 identical less expensive units from a different manufacturer. The Makita is pricey but more than makes up for it in convenience and quality. I use this drill for my job every day so reliability is a must, which this unit has. Auto-stop clutch is an extremely nice feature...no over torquing. A co-worker of mine purchased this same drill 4 years ago and has had to replace only the switch($20.00). If you are thinking about purchasing a $50.00 drill, save a little more and get this drill instead.

Usual Makita quality. Comfortable to hold in both in-line and pistol positions. Auto stop function works well and driver has good torque. Bits snap into position easily and are just as easy to remove. I do wish Makita had a fuller line of bits/drivers, but other manufacturer bits are available.

I first purchased this in 2010 I had serious reservations mainly due to the cost, after all its a freakin screwdriver. I had a black and decker that lasted a long time and it came time to replace the battery and it was the same price as the driver so that was just stupid. I have other good cordless stuff like dewalt and makita. At the time of this review Dewalt does not have any ion drivers so that was out. The one driver dewalt has weighs like 80 pounds or so it looks. Before getting this one I purchased the single speed white ion Makita thinking that would do the trick, but no. The RPM are so high it was like a drill all the time, great build and torque though. This Makita while costing way more than it should seems to fill the bill. It has half the torque of the white one but at least it can be controlled. The settings for torque are nice so you dont strip out delicate screws like in electronic stuff. The one thing I wish it had was the led light should stay on for a few seconds after being activated like the other makita tools. This one is just an on and off switch which I always forget and leave on. Ok two things I wish it had, the other being a handle lock. Driver will just bend when you least expect it. Not a big deal just have to be aware when really putting some pressure down. Oh well what do you want for a hundren and eighty bucks huh. I still cant get over that fact. Oh well its done and it works and it will last a long time. Its now 2014 and I love this thing. It's my go to driver. Carry it in my truck and goes with me everywhere. Worth the price of admission. If I lost it I would gladly buy another.

The screwdriver was just what I wanted. Its features have a case, two batteries, a switched light, off safety switch,variable torque. I purchased a drill chuck which fits in the screwdriver. The case has plenty of room for accessories. A very good design.

This product is small enough and light enough to use in many places, positions and angles where a larger tool won't work. It is powerful and has a variable clutch to prevent stripping of screws and other fasteners. Also can double as a lightweight drill. My first was stolen so I bought another. This is a 5 star product if less costly.

Awesome tool , screw in a 3" deck screw on high without any drag. Battery lasts me just over two - 10 hours work days. It's very light, and is a wrist saver. No more wrist twisting for me. IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY OF THE PRICE!

I have owned this product for just over a week now and I must say I don't know what I would do with out it. Christmas has just passed and with 3 young children, this driver came in real handy. My wife used it more than I did. I am a hobbyist and this product works perfectly for building radio controlled race cars as they have small screws. The torque settings are just what I need not to over tighten those screws. I think anyone who buys this product will be satisfied.

I have several different brands of cordless screwdrivers this has to be the best of them all. I have had mine over a year still works great. I do Electrical work, & it gets the use & abuse. Worth the money.

The motor shaft is either loose or bent, making it nearly impossible to be acurate when drilling. The trigger is in an awkward position for either hand. It was very expensive and I expected a high quality tool.

i love this tool, i am a hobbiest so this tool gets used every day. the batteries last a long time, small, light, compact, very high quality workmonship. price is a little high but the tool is worth it.
