Within 2.5 years of purchase, two of the six bulbs are not working. The color is harsher than any daylight bulb I've experienced. Using the expensive, recommended dimmers that the manufacturer specifies for them, the bulbs still hum, so we removed the dimmers right after putting them on.

Out with Incandescense, in with Leds
I am pretty upset with the way my electric bill has been, so I bought 18 of these bulbs and yes they cost (alot) more, that's why 4 stars for value. I really hope the future shows they are an excellent value. I really am happy with how bright these lights really are, and yes, they are dimmable. Still use my old dimmer switches.
Switching out 15 mr16 hallogen (kitchen) bulbs will be my next led project. Hoping the cost will come down though, and they MUST dim.
So it's still early to see if I have made a noticeable difference on electric use, but I am happy with how they light up each room!! Also, thanks to the internet, I had lots of choices and kept changing my mind, but in the end it was HD.

Terrific lights - I have not tried these on a dimmer
Length of ownership: 6 months
Total bulbs: 9
Failures or defects: none
Setting: indoor and garage
Fixtures: mix of completely enclosed (no air circulation) and open
Power consumption: 9.9 watts with moderate use
Quality of light: Very bright daylight glow. These lights are cooler (whiter) than regular incandescent lights. Great for areas where good lighting is needed.
Performance: Instant on, subjectively seems more like a 100W incandescent bulb
Omnidirectional? Yes, see pictures.
Dimming: have not tested but I also have the 2700k version which works terrific when dimmed
Noise: none
Flicker: none
Issues: None, but I have not tried them on a dimmer.

Good lighting
The lighting is bright when there is not a shade over the light (see pictures). We like them so much we plan to get enough for the rest of our place. Will try to update after we receive our electricity bill.

A realy efficient light bulb for a standard socket
These bulbs produce 800 lumens (60W equiv.) for 9 watts of electricity (89 L/W). The daylight color (5000K) produces a bright white light. I have bought 43 of them and plan to order 6 more. The price is high but they are slightly cheaper in packages of 6. They fit standard sockets (A-19 shape) and are more energy efficient than CFLs, or 4 ft. long T-32 bulbs yet do not require a balast. The are supposed to last 25K hours, so should pay back many times their cost in energy savings. They are great for work lights as they do not get hot like incandescents.

works as described. different, less warm lighting.
We really like the different "type" of light they cast. Haven't used them long enough to comment on durability, but they perform very well. Only concern is that dirty areas show up now!!:)

May have to upgrade old dimmer switch
Contrary to other reviews, these bulbs DO NOT buzz and dims well with the new SETABLE Dimmer switches on the market today. I suspect the reviewers are not upgrading their dimmer switches to be compatable with the new dimmable LEDs & Fluorescent bulbs. The Daylight bulb is the brightest!

Great product
Excellent product, good price and quality. I replace 2 x 11W cfl bulb with 2 x 9W CREE LED bulb, and the living room looks with a better illumination.

Works as expected. Very bright even in the can lights.
I was a little concerned about the 'spotlighting' of LEDs but read about the CREE tower technology and decided to give it a try. I am more than happy with the purchase. The only question will be long term functionality. American made company. CREE makes LEDs that are recommended for coral reef aquariums. If they are trusted there, I have confidence in the quality.

This bulb looks like a regular bulb but the brightness cannot be matched
I installed Cree light bulbs in my home, now my home is daylight bright all the time. My electric bill has dropped since replacing the bulbs in my home. Several visitors have asked about the bulbs after noticing the brightness of my home.

Pricey but worth it
I am using these throughout the house to replace CFLs. They are very bright and give off a very nice daylight color. The base is a little bulky and gets hot but the bulb is shatter proof and durable. If your eyes are sensitive to light you may want to go with the warm white (2700) vs cool white (5000k)

looks like incandescent bulb
This light from this bulb looks as though it's from an incandescent bulb. Light radiates as though there was a filament. Frosted glass with plastic coating produces a diffused pleasant light. Dimmable, saves on energy, too!

Best deal on LED light bulbs
The bulbs are bright and perfect for the areas I have installed them. I also like the fact I don't need to worry about mercury if the bulb is broken. Very happy with my purchase.

The CREE 9-watt bulb is fantastic and affordable
This LED bulb is by far the best LED bulb I've ever used. It only uses 9 watts, which is about 1/7th the energy usage of a 60 watt bulb. Plus, it doesn't have any mercury like CFL bulbs do, and honestly seems a lot brighter than a 60 watt bulb does. It will most likely last longer than I'll live, which is pretty incredible to think about. It's a wise investment and may result in you only having to change a bulb once in your lifetime. I am going to buy more of these, they are really nice and have a perfect hue of light.

Great product, but quality control issues
I bought a six pack and was thrilled to finally receive them. Fantastic light, nice and warm, with awesome efficiency.
Two of the six arrived with issues however. When I opened the clamshell packages, the glass globe wasn't attached to the base (see picture). It wasn't broken, but rather the adhesive appears as if it didn't adhere. I contacted Cree via their website (form post) but 2 weeks later, I still haven't heard from them.
With regard to instant-on, it's true and I love it. Bright light from the moment you flip the switch.
On dimming, well, okay but not really. A normal filament bulb will dim all the way to near dark. These LEDs will drop a notch or two, but nowhere near the range of a filament bulb. We don't really need to dim, so not a big deal, but not necessarily what you're led to believe either.
On the globes not glued, we didn't really care. We put those two in ceiling fans which had their own globes and they still work like a champ.

Great American made product!
I'm so happy that Home Depot is carrying these top-quality American made Cree LED bulbs! I've bought 4 so far and plan to buy more until my entire house is filled with them. Bright white light is an understatement. I've never seen such an efficient LED bulb and the price can't be beat. The photo I've posted is of 3 of these bulbs on the front of my house consuming only 27 watts.

Stopped working. Probably bought it within the last year. Was flickering on an off. Hardly comes on at all. Such a waste of money.

Poorly made, all fail.
I bought a pack of 6 of these so I could phase out CFLs, especially in hard to reach places. One fixture with 4 bulbs rarely has more than 1 bulb actually working at a time. I have given up on trying to make them work and am looking to replace them with a more reliable brand. They are way too expensive to be this unreliable.

Failing Bulbs
We had a new Energy Star Certified home built in 2013 and I decided to use the Cree 60w daylight bulbs in all of our light fixtures. The fact that these bulbs are assembled in the USA helped me decide on purchasing them. The energy savings has been incredible!
One problem I am starting to notice is in the master bedroom and master bath the lights have started to turn completely off for a fraction of a second inn both rooms separate circuits. In the master bedroom I have one light that will go completely off. I had our electrical provider come out and check to make sure there was nothing loose at our main or in our breaker box. I also checked to make sure the bulb was tight enough. I guess I get to go through the process of returning the lights I am having trouble with.

Save your money and buy something else
Save your money and buy the cheap junk from China--the cheap junk from the US is no better. I've had two fail now in less than a year. Everything other people say about their problems with this lamp is also true. They tend to buzz and just don't last. What good is a ten year warranty if you spend all your money sending the bulbs back to the manufacturer when they fail? I noticed the newer lamps have only a five year warranty and some just three years. That should say a lot about what Cree thinks of the dependability of their newer lamps.

Great LED bulbs
I really like these bulbs and I think they are the best that Home Deport offers in this color and output. They are sturdy with a good heat sink around the base. Efficient at 800 lumens from 9 watts. Home Depot appears to be phasing these out and replacing with a CREE model, which has similar output but uses more power (I recall 10 watts).
I have bought a few dozen of these for two houses, and have not had a failure. Good color (I prefer the daylight colors), quick starts, no buzzing or humming. They are a bit heavy with the heat sink, and I had a few desk lamps with swing arms that didn't like the weight. For those few lamps I used the Phillips harp style LEDs.
I don't use dimmers with these, so I can't speak to dimming capability. They do work well with all variety of electronic and manual timers I use.
For a while these bulbs were on sale for about $6 each, and I bought about 18 at that price. I have them throughout my house (desk lamps, closets, work lights, etc.). Quick count is 15 in my house alone.
Note that LEDs aren't well suited to totally enclosed fixtures, since the electronics generate some heat and they need to be cooled by airflow. They will work in totally enclosed fixtures, but the lifespan will be reduced. For the totally enclosed fixtures, it's best to stick with fluorescents which seem to do better in that environment. LED's work great at low temperatures and don't have any of the slow-starting gradual climb to full brightness that plagues some fluorescents.
I tend to shop for light fixtures that allow good airflow. I actually modified a metal-head desk lamp by drilling a few holes in the top of the shroud to let some air through.

First LED bulbs for the house
Got these bulbs to convert our house to all LED lighting. Like the light from the bulbs and the construction looks to be well made. I am very leery of the life expectancy claim. Some others I know that have started changing over to LED claim the bulbs quit working way before the stated life span. Keep your receipts!!

Did not last
I added several of these to my dinning room lighting. Each fixture had 3 bulbs and is contained by the glass cover so they would get somewhat hot. However, even with these bulbs with lower wattage, they only lasted a few months and stopped working. The florescent bulbs lasted longer even though it got slightly hotter. I had one go out, then another, and then a third so I returned all of them. I like the idea but i don't trust this brand and won't buy Cree again. Very disappointed especially since they are so expensive.

Best lights and service
I checked on the internet and found Cree to be the best LED bulbs . I talked to John Green in the electrical Dept. , and he spent over an hour explaining and advising me all about LED lighting and fixtures . He knew what he was talking about . I bought 32 Cree 60 watt daylight LED bulbs and some fixtures . I an so pleased with these , they are perfect lights , better than incandescent bulbs and have a 10 year guarantee . Thanks John
