I was looking for 56" long dowel rods to install two bird perches for my back porch. This 60" long broom handle did the trick. I like how various customers have repurposed this broom handle. Necessity is the mother of invention...

I drove to Home Depot to buy this because I needed a 5' wooden dowel. The thickness needed to be 1-1/8" , for my application. I found this item and purchased it. When I got home, I found out that it is too thin. It is milled at just over an inch. It will not fit correctly into my fitting. It is too sloppy of a fit. The thickness needed to be 1-1/8". I needed to wrap tape around it to make it fit somewhat better.. Home Depot had dowels with a thickness of 1-1/8", but only 4 feet in Length, which is a foot too short.

I actually used these poles to make a teepee for my daughters baby shower ..they are holding up beautifully...and were less expensive then buying sanding and staining raw poles myself..not to mention the labor in doing so.

Strong length of wood. The tapered end makes it easy to fit into the a broom, rake, or in my case, an 18-inch rubber squeegee.

Great length. Only slight modification needed.. worked out well ?

Worked out well had to sand the point down some to get it in the rake head. I’m tall and the long handle worked out well for me ?

I like the way this wood handle looks. It's 1-1/8" in diameter, stained brown, and shiny. I didn't like the black burn marks on the end of the handle [Some have less black burn marks]. I rolled 5 on the cement floor and some weren't completely straight but straight enough. I added more polyurethane to the one I purchased using a brush to waterproof it more and I like how it has more grip with more polyurethane.

Nice, almost exactly like the one from the broom that was broken.
