I am a woodworking teacher and I teach handtool woodworking to students from 1st - 8th grade. I have a few of these planes in service every day. The kids love them and they work great. I also have some vintage Stanley hand planes and a few new ones. They can take a beating and as the kids say the work and shavings are so satisfying.

I am sorry but I have not used the plane yet.

This is a good plane if you don’t want to spend 100$. It took me 10 minutes with some sand paper a file and a diamond stone to get it running good. If you are really making fine cabinets or something maybe you want something fancier but otherwise I have found this to operate pretty much the same as the ones from the 90s

The Stanley Bailey block plane provides a decent starting point that if one is willing to put in the work to tune, can be made into an accurate and reliable tool.

Poor quality, worst for money. buy kobalt brand block plane. Its lower price and same design.

It is a good sturdy tool but the base required over an hour on the sharpening stone to make it dead flat.

Received exactly what I ordered, promptly.

Works well ..I like the way the blade adjusts. My old planer only adjusted depth of the cut.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned mine for 17 years now. It's very comfortable. It fits well in my hand. The low angle makes cutting end grain very easy. It does have an engineering issue though. I have to completely disengage the leaver cap to adjust the depth of cut.

As for fit and finish it needs a lot of sanding/polishing. Plan on 5 hours. Probably workable right out the box in its rough condition but the smoother the finish the more time you’ll save yourself later while using it, and less frustration. Blade is decent. Home Depot had the best price of anyone. Recommended.

Apparently the package had been opened prior to shipment and was probably returned because it didn't work them or for me. Very poor quality and very bad instructions.

Very valuable tool O am so glad to have! Unlike many folks, I have used it a ton from the second it arrived!

The block plane is very good quality. However the shaft holding the knob to adjust the depth of the blade was bent, so I took the plane apart and straightened that shaft out and now it works perfectly.
