Didn’t even get a hole started with this junk!!!
I guess some people got lucky with drilling one hole, I was only able to put a mark on my ceramic tile! Not even porcelain. It’s not worth the money, let alone the aggravation and disappointment you will have, the high star reviews are either fake, reveiwed before they used it or got lucky. This is only good for drilling plastic!!! Home Depot should remove this from their shelves!

Great! if you only need to drill 1 hole
This drilled 1 hole successfully. Completely dull after finishing 1 hole. Would not recommend.

      Waste of money
It drilled 1/2 a hole before it was completely dull.

I needed to drill eight holes in 3/8 inch porcelain. The first bit broke halfway through the first hole. The second one finished that hole and barely completed the second one. It had no remaining diamond grit on the cutting face. I then bought a DeWalt bit which completed the job. 1. Not surprisingly, surfaces have to be very clean for the adhesive pads to stick. 2. On the plus side, Home Depot cheerfully refunded my money for the second bit

My task was to install 1 shower rod, 1 towel bar, and 1 toilet paper holder, all on very hard 1/4" thick porcelain tile. That required a total of 10 holes. I actually drilled 13 holes due to "operator error" but I won't elaborate on that story! I ended up buying two 5/16" QEP diamond hole saw kits and, finally, a Milwaukee drill bit to complete the task. On the plus side, the plastic guide taped to walls is indispensable. Drill bits will "skate" all over the wall without this guide or another like it. On the negative side, the water cooling system is a cruel joke. Water dissipates through the plastic container in about 30 seconds, but it takes at least 30 MINUTES to drill through 1/4" porcelain tile. My advice is to tape the bottom plastic guide to the wall and drill long enough to get a hole started. Remove the bit periodically and dip it in bowl of water to cool. After the hole has been started you can remove the guide and complete the hole without the guide. Use a spray bottle of water to cool the bit and remove debris. If you remove the guide carefully you can perhaps use the tape twice. Other reviewers have complained that the package doesn't have enough two-sided tape strips. However, when you run out of tape strips it is probably way past time to replace the bit anyway. I found that these bits would last for about 5 holes before they became completely useless. My advice is to buy this kit for the guide alone and use the included bit until it wears out. Then buy a better quality bit to complete your work.

Dulls easily; poor water delivery design; cracks tile.
I got about 1.5 holes out of this bit before it was dull and worthless. The elongated debris exit hole also caught the edge of my tile and chipped it (see photo). Luckily, the chip will be hidden by my shower door profile, so I'm not super upset about it. I ended up going back to HD and getting the Milwaukee diamond bit hole saw of the same size. It worked much better.

            FANTASTIC!!!!
We did a bathroom reno and were in the process of installing a DreamLine Aqua Ultra tub door. We needed to drill six holes in our new porcelain tiles. This little tool worked great! Follow the instructions and within 30 seconds you have a 5/16" hole. I was hesitant after reading some of the reviews, but the people that gave negative feedback either did not follow the directions or were reality impaired and should not be working with tools. This product works exactly as stated and I would have paid double for the results. Instead of the drill skating all over the tile, the drill guide held the bit in position so there was no damage to the surrounding tile.

A little fussy, but makes nice holes!
This unit is a little tricky to make work, but is FAR better than trying to use a carbide bit on Porcelain tiles. For the money, you can't beat it! A few comments: - Be careful opening the package - the directions on the back are small, hard to read, and easy to destroy when opening. - There are 3 small holes in the upper container that drip water over the bit. 3 was too many - the water drained out in about 15 seconds! I covered one hole with black tape, and 2 was about right. - You can expect to need about 2 re-fills of the top container before you complete 1 hole in 3/8" porcelain tile. Of course, you have to figure out how to get the water out of the bottom container! I drilled a 1/16" hole in the bottom, and just let the water drizzle onto a towel below. - Skip the square plastic retainer that goes between the upper & lower containers. It just makes it harder to get the upper container put in place (meanwhile your water is dripping out!). It doesn't really serve any purpose. - Drill slowly with even pressure - think grinding, not drilling. - Be careful removing the containers from the tile when you're done - the adhesive is very sticky, and you might break the container! - I drilled 6 holes, and the diamond abrasive felt just as sharp when I was done as when I started.

This diamond hole saw is ideal for cutting holes and has a diamond grit edge that drills through ceramic, glass, marble, porcelain and granite. It is only for wet use with cordless drills that fit 1/2" or 3/8" chucks. Customer Care QEP

Piece of junk. The drill was bent after the 1st use. The reservoir leaked all o et the place. I was lucky to drill the 8 holes that I needed before it died. It’s a toy.

This is not a necessity tool for the job of drilling through tile. A mortar bit works well and doesn’t require the haste of a water reservoir. The water reservoir leaks and makes a mess and the bit was ineffective.

                qep diamond hole saw
it did the job but cut slowly and the rubber that retains the water broke down after 2nd cut and allowed water to leak quickly - had to buy another one to get thru the 8 holds needing to be drilled - had one a year ago that worked much better

                useless
It has only 6 sticky pads, which do not hold up with the use of water then things slip around. Once they are used, then what is a person to do, chewing gum? Bit did not drill effectively through tile after several refills of water which requires removing/rotating and refilling, making it more difficult to hold in same spot. Big waste of money, DO NOT BUY.

Thank you for taking time to review this tool. Stabilizing the tile (prior to cut) is key to a consistent successful cut. Apply the reservoir pad to a clean dry surface. Add cool water to the reservoir, drill the marked area of the tile - making sure to let the drill bit do the work. Forcing the drill and bit through the tile (excessive pressure) can cause damage to the tile and the drill bit. Steady even pressure on the equipment and tile should yield the desired result. QEP
