Great cooler
I took this cooler on a guys camping trip. I filled it with ice on Friday morning. We kept it in the back of an unshaded truck, added a couple of cases worth of uncooled drinks, and were in and out of it all weekend. Monday afternoon, there was still ice, and the temp of the drinks that were left was still 31°. I decided to push it, and added another case of drinks that had been in the hot truck all day. When checked a couple of hours later, most of the ice had melted but the drinks, including the ones I added were a frosty 33°. The handles are great to carry with, and the latches feel secure and solid. I was able to stand and sit on it all day with no flexing or shifting. This thing is every bit as good as my friend's Yeti at half the price!

    awesome
Everything I expected it to be. As a electrican in North Louisiana. We have no shortage of hot weather! The cooler stays in the back of my service truck and preforms very well. I like the latches, better than the old igloo.

      Great cooler!
Every bit as good as a Yeti cooler...if not better. High quality, kept ice going for 5 days in the back of a hot horse trailer and with repeated opening/closing. It is definitely heavy though when loaded down!

      Little disappointed
Nice solid cooler but did not have the ice retention I expected. Filled with ice and drinks and threw it in the back of the truck. Temp gets to low 90's during the day and cooler stayed under a tonneau cover. About half the ice melted after 36 hours and was cold water with small floating ice at 60 hours. By day 5 all ice had melted. Cheaper than a Yeti but does not retain ice as advertised

        the best buy
The pelican 45qt cooler is the best buy. I looked at the reviews of all the better made coolers and decided to go with the pelican.Several of the guys I work with own yeti coolers and they told me they`re yeti would only hold ice for about 3 days in 90 degree plus heat and depending on the frequency to which the cooler was opened. I bought the pelican 45qt and within a few days realized that at least with the yeti and the pelican coolers that they are both very good coolers but in 90 plus degree temps a cooler can only do so much. So for the 100.00 - 120.00 price difference , I `d go with the Pelican.

        Not worth the price
Package came in a factory sealed box so i could not blame home depot. Seems like pelican has no quality control. The drain plug was damaged out of the box. One of the two locks doesnt close smoothly. I have to press the cooler down from the top. The seal was also not set down properly. Looks like it will start to come undone soon. I will not be purchasing from pelican again.

          Great cooler
This is a great cooler and holds ice well. Only negative is the overall weight even when empty. Otherwise great product!

Good quality but was expecting longer ice retention
Pros: Great quality, latches and hinges. Cons: Heavy, drain plug is not insulated, ice retention not as well as advertised. Straight out of the box we took it on an early summer mountain central valley CA camping trip where temps in the valley were in the high 90's and in the 70's/ low 80's in the mountains. The first bag of ice we put in lasted about 2 days, the 2nd and 3rd about 3 days each until it was mostly water with jut a little ice floating on top.. I didn't read the details of the "up to 10 days" claim but I really was expecting at least 5 days based on some tests I had seen online. So yes better than a cheapo cooler but does not live up to the hype and expense.

If you are looking for agreat cooler look no further. Don't waste your money on a Yeti !!!!! This cooler out performs the yeti hands down its less expensive than a Yeti It holds ice longer than a Yeti The cooler is actually 45 quarts

              Pelican 45
I prefer the Pelican over the Yeti, it has better closures,!it is Heavy though. Great drain system, yes, the Yeti stickers are cool.

                Would not buy again
Well it looks heavy duty. It is heavy. Non slip feet on bottom may be great on a boat but it also makes it hard to move around. Take two to move when full. No sure it rally keeps ice longer ???

                  very good Pelican quality cooler.
this cooler stands up to the Pelican name. It is of very good quality. I have not tried ice in it yet but it looks like it will keep it good.

Great Cooler, so good I have bought several sizes....
Hands down likely the best cooler around, with handles, extra carrying handles, strap holes to secure the cooler while allowing opening of the top, secure clasps hat make other manufacturers look cheap, and and a one pad lock hole to secure the front, or to link it to a cable so no one runs off with your cooler. The 45 Q will fit in the back of a UTV, but the smaller one is likely a better option as it will max out a Can Am UTV allowing another gear bag on the other side. I use mine in AK and hope to never run into a Grizzly in Camp. With this cooler I feel confident to leaving scented items locked up at the other end of the sandbar... and not have to return home because some animal tore up my cooler. This has happened to me before... the 35Q is good for small UTV cargo areas and short trips, the 45Q is a good all around and not to big, would strap down to front of most ATVs perfectly, the 65Q is good for major fishing or a full size raft seat... hope this helps. I freeze 2-3 gatorade bottles and use them as a center divider before I go and this lasts a long time (>7 days). I drink them as I go and they almost always remaine partially frozen where I have to continually at water to melt the ice during hunting season.. And guys HOT women tend to swoon over this coolers features...
