I just received this (TE-5040V) yesterday and I was ready to install the compressor right away. The compressor is smaller than the dimensions would suggest. It came lag bolted to two palates and plenty of bubble wrap, mine arrived timely and undamaged. I was able to give it a bear hug and lift it off the palates by myself. I loaded it onto a refrigerator dolly and moved it to the basement. Wired and plumbed it and fired it up!! Unfortunately they do not give you a very good way to connect the AC cord, very tight and the factory wires are "forks" which I changed out to "rings" so they don't vibrate loose and fall out. The hole pressure switch is a bit fragile, but an easy upgrade if anything should happen to it. I left the drain valve on the bottom open for 30 min to allow for a break in, to my surprise after about 6 min of running it had built about 50 psi in the tank. I then stuck in a open fitting into my hose to let the rest of the pressure out. The tank fill time from empty is around 5 min. I used all 1/2 hose, 1/2 copper, 1/2 inch G fittings and a 75 CFM regulator. Air delivery is very good. I have an air impact that will openflow 21 CFM and the compressor puts up a losing fight, but it can go for around 2 min before tank pressure drops below 110 PSI, who runs an air gun that long continuously anyways?! Smaller blow guns rated below 15 CFM the compressor will out pump them, maybe a little conservative on their CFM rating? It is way quieter than the oil-less compressor that I was using. Overall it looks robust but time will tell.... If you have a home game shop or a really small commercial shop this one will not disappoint, however it might struggle with multiple users if your plumbing is good enough to deliver the CFM at 100 PSI.

Puma 40 Gal, had for about 4 months so here is my review.
I am a home garage hobbyist and was wanting to find a suitable air compressor to run systems i needed in the garage...i.e. impact guns, sandblasting cabinet, air hammers, da sanders, die grinders, and etc. Whilst i never opted for your big 80 gallon belt driven two stage unit, i did come across this 40 gallon belt driven two stage unit. Let me say this...this compressor will keep up with anything you put on it. My sandblasting cabinet has a rated 15 cfm tip on it (that's the way it came and i haven't changed it) and I haven't had to wait for no pressure to build up. As a matter of fact when the pressure does drop and u feel that and when the compressor kicks on, the pressure is as good as is if the tank was fully charged and u pulled the first air out of it (i.e. it does almost better when it is running...on my 15 cfm sandblasting tip). As far a packaging, i ordered online, took about a week or so to arrive to store (central TX) and when i went to pick up, was not at all displeased at packaging. Bolted to a pallet that had enough bubble wrap to keep anything from dinging it. Will say this though, the height dimensions on website actually came out a few inches shorter...i think they calculate the height of the unit on the pallet. As far as this unit goes, so far so good, would definitely buy again. Will tell you this though: had this little 2 gallon CH oil-less unit and that thing is twice as loud as the puma.. Stay away from oil-less units.

    Solid Performer
This is a great little compressor. It has an all cast iron pump, no aluminum crankcase or head. It cycles between 135 and 175 lbs. and runs all my air tools and blast cabinet without a problem. It was easy to install with vibration pads (not included) being shorter and lighter than 60 or 80 gallon units. It's not short on power though being two stage. It suffered minor shipping damage which was quickly remedied by Puma's customer service people. And I must say the Puma representatives are among the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure to deal with. It shipped free to Home Depot where I picked it up. It took the Home Depot staff quite awhile to locate it and get it up front and another quite awhile to get it loaded. They only had one certified lift stacker operator in the whole store. Minor annoyance. I'm very happy with my purchase.

arrived well packaged and on the day they said it would. There was an issue with the line going to the drain valve. We powered it up and when it got up to about 150psi the line started leaking like crazy. We drained the air and found that it wasn't properly seated at the factory. It was a fairly quick fix but it is a cheap plastic line and push in fitting. I will probably change it to copper down the road. Everything else was as described. not loud, fills quick and best of all Made In The USA. It's a great compressor for the money.

Awesome compressor. Builds air fast. Ran it a few times for break-in then drained & refilled with Amsoil. Added rubber ground isolators & a two stage dryer system. Replaces a 60gal machine, does everything i need it to & does so with half the noise.

Arrived at Home Depot ahead of schedule, was packaged to survive just about anything. It is quieter than my 4 horse 80 gallon Campbell hausfeld by a bunch. Bought it to mount in my service truck. Time will tell, fit and finish is superb. It makes air pressure fast. Very happy with it so far.

I bought this in back in February. I was looking for a unit to upgrade my 5hp horizontal “hot-doc” unit which I had been running for almost 30 years. I spent a lot of time researching the current market and found that, unless you are ready to shell out big $$$, what you find are unit built on the cheap offshore. This unit seemed to be an exception. I wanted a unit that was reliable and had decent build quality. What good is a compressor that breaks down? The last thing I wanted was a compressor that needed replaced or rebuilt every few years. I found that this requirement alone pushes you to the $1k+ level. It came anchored to a large pallet and wrapped in a ton of bubble wrap. It is too heavy for one person, but two of us managed to unload it from the back of a pickup. It takes up the same footprint as a 60 gallon unit, but doesn’t require the head room. I was able to sit this next to some shelves without blocking access. It runs quieter than my old unit, but takes a while to fill the 40 gallon tank to 175psi. Once filled, it run everything from grinders to spay guns without having to pause and wait for the tank to fill. It is rally more compressor than I needed, I am quite pleased with this unit, it is well built, is less conspicuous then a full 60 gallon unit, run quieter than my old unit, and keep up with every tool I have. What more could you ask for?

Great compressor in a very useable size. I have upper storage cabinets in my garage and the compressor location is to the side of the OHD so I can’t use a traditional height 60-80 gallon tank. This unit fits conveniently. Size your breaker appropriately as you need 40 amp min. Get feet or bolt down.

Runs great, plenty of pressure and not a lot of noise like some of the others. Very pleased with my purchase. Don’t think the 10 of 12 gauge wire my manual said to use is heavy enough. I used 6/2wg which should be sufficient for the 60A breaker said the installation manual to use.

I was wanting a relatively compact powerful air compressor for my small garage and this fits the bill nicely. All I had to do for setup was to buy and install a flexible power cord and wire it up.. Otherwise, this air compressor was ready to go. The compressor runs relatively quiet which is nice. It kicks on at 125 PSI and cuts off at 175 PSI. This is easily adjustable though. However, the operating manual doesn't have instructions on how to do that. I did adjust the pressures after some trial and error. So far, it runs all my air tools without complaint. I have yet used my spray gun for painting though. The rating on the compressor says it is capable though. I'm very happy with it.

        great buy
was looking for a better than average compressor to run sanders drill and air grinder for my shop at the house. it is easyer to move by your self than a taller one. it is quieter than i expected. regulated at 90 psi 3/8 hose wide open no fittings takes over a minite to drop to hundred psi. minute recovery. and 5 minutes to fill from emty. pumps more air than any thing i got so it builds air as i use it. so it is not constantly running or barely keeping up. very happy. if your looking for a good compressor this is one. so far awsome.

I bought this to replace a 60 gallon single stage. Big difference, this has the extra efficiency by the second stage to move twice the air. Much less noise than the single stage unit, that's another benefit. Belt guard was a little bend form the shipment, simple fix. Runs fine for me on a 30amp breaker with 10 feet of 10/2 wire. Love the smaller size tank freed up some space in the shop. This was the only 2 stage compressor with a small tank I could find. Over all very pleased with this compressor.

            Very good compressor
The product itself is excellent. My only complaint is that the belt guard was deformed a little from shipping, and the copper line to the regulator was loose. It also had a kink, so I replaced it. Everything running smoothly now.

              Wow, this thing really blows!!!
This is a great compressor for the price. Plenty of capacity to operate air tools and keeps up with my Iwata paint gun and blast cabinet, too. The small tank doesn't tke up too much space and the compessor has the capacity to keep up with everything I have. I hooked up an old eighty gallon tank from my old compressor, so have more than enough reserve now. Time will tell how durable this unit is, but I suspect it will last for years of heavy use. Reasonably quiet for the output and appears to be well built. All that and a lovely blue paint that will not clash with most shop decors!! Oh baby!

              Great compressor
The compressor is excellent. It was damaged in shipping, but Home Depot and puma worked together to get the replacement parts I needed to fix the damage. This runs quietly for a compressor of this capability.

              Great value and quality product...
Excellent quality, powerful dual stage compressor. Set at the factory to maintain 140-175 psi... 40 Gallon tank size fits in tight spaces with much less height requirement than the 60 and 80 gal units. Well built, quiet, and produces plenty of air to run any of my pneumatic tools continuously. Well packaged for shipment and arrived via curbside freight delivery. I would highly recommend this product to my closest friends...
