The Intermatic 40-Amp time is perfect for our water heater and pool chlorinator needs. We used 2 of them. Wiring is straightforward, and available knockouts met our needs for interfacing with conduit.

Accidentally ordered different brand - my error. Upon realizing this, ordered the Intermatic to replace an old one. Installation was literally a snap. No rewiring needed, after unhooking the wires, just snapped out the old unit, snapped the new one into the older housing and re-hooked the wires. Thankful that in 30 years, the units were virtually identical because I was not looking forward to having to mount the replacement on a concrete wall and re-run new conduits, etc. Thanks to Home Depot for continuing to stock an old, reliable brand. And further thanks for the ease of ordering via internet, so all I had to do is walk in and put my order number into the locker. No hassle either in returning the other brand that I didn't need. This is especially helpful as I get older and less able to physically walk up and down aisleways.

Overall I like the timer. Two things though. I have used one at another home for eight years with no problems. The only criticism I have is the timer is noisy!!! The old one was noisy and the new one I bought last month month is just as noisy. You can hear the timer running. The second thing is the ground wire connection requires the wire to be bent around the screw. On the other terminal connections you don't have to bend the wire. You can leave the wire straight and insert it in the connection and tighten the screw. Thanks

Easy to install

Works great! Keeps excellent time.

I replaced the existing Little Grey Box because the trippers stopped working (timer would jam on the tripper). The next one lasted two years before the same thing started again. Support said it was a motor failure. I replaced the motor with a new one from Granger. The new one did not help the issue. I am replacing the box with a digital one. That's three boxes in two years. At minimum, Intermatic should have sent me the replacement motor.

Easy to install and accurate times as set.

The timer was easy to install and functions as designed. It was easy to program as well. Will save me $ on my electric bill.

At the location I visited, Atlantic & Girvin, Jax, Fl. , Only two of this item were available. Both packaged previously opened. Obviously been returned, one had the guts exchanged, the other had all the knockouts removed. I wasn't happy!

What a piece of junk, I had one of these I installed over 15 years ago and it finally died. No complaints there, but I went and bought a new one, same brand, same model, installed it exactly like the old one and it's works when it wants too. for whatever reason the timer motor will stop running and you have to jiggle the time setting wheel to get it running again. I had it running, thinking, ok now it's working and several hours later when I went to take a shower, NO HOT Water, the thing stopped running and the water heater never came on when it was suppose to. Stay away from this brand. It's so sad that almost all manufactures of goods today keeps making their products cheaper and cheaper to the point it's almost normal that nothing works the way it should. This is a perfect example of the bean counters reducing the quality of products for the sake of profit

This was easy to install, and the directions are right on the door. Make sure you buy grommets/connectors to protect your wire and hold it in place. I used these things in a commercial setting which is why I decided to use it in my home for my water heater. It came with enough pieces to set 8 time periods. Now, I am looking where I can put more timers to save money. I saw some people say online "why would you do this?" Just think of how many items we turn on and off daily.

It worked very well

I had to get another one after the first one stopped working after 4 months. Thankfully, store associate at homedepot was able to replace my old timmer. I hope this one will last more than 4 months. Will see....

I used one of these years ago and thought it was great. The new one installed easily and appears to work as well. Happy with it so far.

Timer is on time

The ground mounting hole is a joke! try attaching two ten gauge wires to that tiny screw was impossible. I had to enlarge hole to properly attach ground wires. Once that was done everything else was a breeze to install wires. Its very quiet running unit. And it is working fine.

Purchased two of these for separate hot water tanks. One was installed in a guest house and never used, the timer mechanism stopped working when I needed to use it. The second unit was used for a few years and it also had the timer clock mechanism go bad....so maybe a different brand would be advised.
