Great vent for new siding installation. I chose this particular vent hood, mostly because of the color. It matches the surrounding trim pretty well. After securing the vent to the outside wall, I sided around it and installed the outer bevel piece on top. That covered the siding ends for a nice finished appearance. The vent is plastic, so the lid is light weight and opens easily, yet the shape of the lid prevents the wind from blowing it open from the outside. I think this vent is a good choice for new installations.

If you need this for a brick application you need to order one with a different face plate, which is not an option from HD The one listed is for siding or stucco

Great addition to our home. Easy installation, but I'd recommend using small screws to fasten the interior collar, as it can tend to curl inward when calking is used to insulate the gap between the duct and exterior hole in the wall.

From the picture it looks like a substantial one way air flow check valve. Really should have a picture with it open so it is obvious that it is just a plastic flapper like all the others.

I ended up returning this. I bought it because I liked the door and the way it worked. the attachment of the metal 4" vent pipe to the plastic door was really poor, and I feared it would pull apart when I attached the vent from the dryer. I expected a much higher quality part.

This is a nicely designed product that opens easily from the inside, but is very difficult to open from the outside. This shuts out the wind, cold air, and animals. I like that the flange provides mounting points so that it can be screwed into the wall instead of just caulked to wall like my old unit was. There is also a trim ring that covers the mounting screws. It's good looking too, and matches the trim on my house. And it was easy to install.

It works great so far,the color brown blends well with the brick wall.

Vent met expectations, stopped drafts dryer drum is not cold now.
