I rarely write reviews but after all my aggravation with these, I felt I had to write a review for others. First of all, this is not my first time installing these light buckets. I have installed these several times for both new and remodel construction. I bought 10 of these units for a new kitchen lighting project. When it came time to mounting the buckets, I planned for an all-day event in the attic as these are being used for a remodel (despite them being advertised as for new construction only) thus I do not have the convenience of standing on a ladder up through the trusses/rafters for mounting and wiring. Let me first say that the true "remodel" buckets are an absolute joke as they never sit straight on the ceiling with the heavy weighted junction box hanging to the side. Plus, with a remodel version, you still have to get in the attic to wire them. So why not just start with the new construction version in the first place which sits flat and has the four rails to securely mount to the trusses?! The first issue with these is their quality has decreased since the last time I have used these (about 4 years ago). The "got nail" feature is useless as the quality of the nails are nothing short of pure China junk. On every light bucket, about 2 of the 4 nails (on average, some 3 of 4) would bend over after the 3rd or 4th hit of the hammer or better, was when the head of the nail broke off completely! My house is only a few years old, meaning my trusses are not petrified stone hard! There should be no reason these nails do not drive home. The quick fix was to use the screw gun to hold the buckets in place of the "got nail" feature. I should have planned on just using screws to begin with! Second, only after the unit was installed (nailed or sometimes screwed as mentioned above) into place, did I notice some of the spreaders came out of their track. This was very aggravating because it was almost impossible to bend the small tabs outward to allow the track to be reinserted back into place. I found myself using Channel Locks to squeeze the tabs to put more pressure/friction on the rails to prevent them from falling out of place while I nailed/screwed the units to the trusses. Thirdly, the WAGO electrical connectors are rather helpful as it allows for a speedy connection when piggy-backing to multiple buckets. I only had one issue here where I broke one wire of my Romex and the short piece got stuck in the WAGO connector. I removed it by rotating and pulling the broken off piece, but had to cut all the other connected wires as well on the same WAGO connector since you cannot rotate it with more than one wire inserted in place. This means you have to cut the remaining wires, rotate and pull, then strip and reinsert. The WAGO connectors are obviously meant for speed connectivity but are a once-only, all or nothing type connector. I could have just used a wire nut and had been done with it much sooner rather than fiddling with the WAGO connector. I know, my fault for breaking the wire, but these things are not meant to be connected to more than once! Bottom line, these units work well and do their job very nicely, but installation difficulty is magnified greatly by the poor quality of the "got nail" feature and the loosely/sloppily fitting track rails. The WAGO connector is a great design, but just keep in mind it is designed for a one time connection only! Once everything was finally mounted and wired, the units performed exactly as designed. Oh and by the way, I am using the HALO R4 3000k 90CRI gimbal units in these buckets and they worked great together.

The lights work very well. Home Depot sold these with the best price. The only problem I had, Home Depot didn’t want to send the second order of these so I had to buy them elsewhere. At an added cost

They were all bent up and didn’t come with quick connection like the halo brand will not buy these again
