Great Product that's works better than expected. When we built our house in Montana in 2010, I made the mistake of not putting in Radiant Heated Floors, especially under the tile in the master bathroom. Come winter time, that floor is very cold in the middle of the night. So late last winter I set out to find a solution without tearing out the existing tiles. I wanted something electric which would be quiet to run and efficient, plus have fewer moving parts. A few months ago, I came across SunTouch Under the Floor Heating Mats on Home Depot’s website. These mats go in the crawl space between the floor joist and they looked very promising, plus the cost was very reasonable. I couldn’t find much on the web about the installation process so I talked to a local Electrician. He too was unfamiliar with this product, but like me, he was intrigued. I was cautiously optimist about how well they would heat the tile floors, but I decided to order the mats from Home Depot and hope for the best. This really is a DIY project for the most part. I did all the prep work, ordered the mats, thermostat and insulation, and my husband helped me hang the mats. We had the electrician wire everything up to code and my husband and I put the insulation up. I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with how well these mats work. Within just a few hours, the temperature of the floor was 85 and the room temperature was 70. The mats were installed 4 days ago and what a huge difference this has made to the comfort of the bathroom. I can’t say enough good things about this product. I highly recommend this product for your floor heating needs, especially if you don’t want to tear up your existing floor. You will not be disappointed.

Helped to Reduce Natural Gas Heating Bill by 50%
I installed these floor mats about 3 months ago and have been pretty happy with the product. My main complaint is that they use a lot of electricity.
I installed this product in my living room and kitchen which have 16 foot ceilings (~900 sq ft total). These have helped create a more even heat in those rooms. Overall my natural gas usage has been reduced by ~50% since I installed these. On average the mats use ~20 kWh per day to heat this space during the winter months (40 to 50 avg low).

Suntouch No Warranty
Electrician installed Feb 2022 in Michigan. Stopped working Sept 2022. Electrician found power not getting to mat. We call Suntouch and closest contacts they have is Wisconsin and Colorado. She said the guy in Wisconsin MIGHT make the trip. We would have to pay for him to come. IF he agrees to make the multi-day trip AND determines it falls under warranty, we would be reimbursed. WHAT? Don't be fooled. There is essentially NO WARRANTY for Suntouch.

Worked better than expected. Got a 19 degree heat increase, sufficient to warm the tile floor above. However, wish they also produced a 2’ length. The one change they need to make is in packaging. The mat comes rolled with a 2” wide paper sticker surrounding one end. Unfortunately the adhesive is too strong so the paper tears leaving paper and adhesive residue that is difficult to remove. Took about 15 minutes of scraping with my fingernail to remove it from each roll.

I followed the instructions to the t and insulated it but it doesn't seem to heat the floor as well as advertised. The best the floor gets to is 78°. The thermostat is so cheap it only does a single set temp. Its heating most of the time trying to reach the 88° setting but after 48 hours it's still not there. My other floor heat set at 92 will get there in 40 minutes. Don't recommend this product.

A great option when wanting to heat an existing floor and have access to the subfloor from below. Installation was straight forward but did take all day including fishing wires and mounting the thermostat. Keep in mind that the subfloor cavity this will be mounted into must be free and clear of all pipes, obstructions, and heat ducts, etc.

This is NOT an instant warming mat. Took about a week to be able to tell it was there. Better than ice-cold floors, but brace yourself for the price! To do 2/3s of my 1300sqft house, just mats are $4000 (not including install labor)! Part of the problem is they don't come in odd lengths, like 3 ft, 5 ft, etc. I'm praying they will lower energy bills but too early to tell yet.

The floor is relatively warm, but it requires running the system at max temp. (94 degrees F on the thermostat). Found that it took a number of hours to warm our tile floor, but now quite comfortable.

We built a home and moved in Spring 2019, now that winter is upon us our master bathroom floor is cold. I am an average DYI'er and decided to give this product a try after obtaining estimates ranging from $2,500 - $4,000 to install a similar system. I purchased 3 -12'x16" mats, the controller/thermostat, and installed it myself. I watched a You Tube video of the install and read the product manual. Fortunately, the joist spaces under our bath ran the right direction and there were only a few obstructions, none of which were directly in the way. I did have to install a new breaker in the panel because I wanted a dedicated circuit and am not crazy about that. I even considered hiring an electrician, but after running the romex and opening the panel, decided to do it. It took me all in about 4 hours but I worked slowly and carefully. I was in under $900 in materials and now the floor is toasty warm when we get up and go to bed. The touch screen controller is easy to set up. Tools were a tape measure, drill & bits, screw drivers, utility knife and a multi meter (to check the resistance of the mats before and after installation), wire stripper and a staple gun. Materials beyond the mats and controller were romex, a GFCI breaker, wire staples, wire nuts, a single gang plastic re-modeler's box, a metal junction box & cable clamps, caulk to firestop the holes in the floor decking and a roll of R19 fiberglass insulation.

The warming mats were easy to install. I had three mats (two, six foot and one four foot mat) installed in an afternoon. My bathroom floors are now quite toasty.

Works great. We are very pleased. The size and shape of the mat fits well between the floor joists as described. I did have to re-order different length mats because I assumed that there was continuous space between the joists, but there where were some cross members that I was not aware of. Something you may want to double check before you order.

Underfloor warming mat
These mats, combined with the Suntouch thermostat make a great system in a house with a tile floor that did not have heat below the tile. Not simple to install when there is insulation already installed and if it is in a crawl space, as was ours. But, worth the effort and the $s.

It makes a great deal of difference in the crawl space that had been converted into an extra room just before I purchased the home.
For the cost this is a good way to heat a room. It does require multiple junction boxes as you are limited in the number of wires for each metal electrical box.

easy install
I ordered the 6' length for my bathroom. The install went great. I used the video from their website for some clarification. I also ordered the thermostat online as it was cheaper than picking it up in the store. Having an electric stapler really saves your arms as you spend a lot of time with your arms over your head.

Super
If only I had listened to myself and bought one more.
When I get it next year the job will be done.
