Terrible!
Day 1. Leaks from main spout. I don’t recommend this at all.

    Good but not great
It's the best thing I could find for two 5/8" hoses. Build materials are decent, but factory assembly needs help. Had to file out a weld blob so the axle would go in the tube. The teflon pipe seals leaked, I took it all apart and re-did the fittings. I added a 90-degree fitting to change the angle of the hose, otherwise it kinks where it connects. The stand is wonky, doesn't sit squarely, but it will do. I do like the non-pneumatic wheels. Definitely heavy duty.

      Garden Hose Reel
My hose reel was missing 2 axle washers, the rubber gasket for the galvanized T was actually twisted, the crank handle hit the frame every time it turned, there is not 90 for the hose connection so it immediately kinks. The barrel diameter is so small a good quality industrial rubber black hose still has trouble and there is no hose guide. For $119 USD in upstate NY this is extremely poor quality and value. Don't waste your time or money!

        No leaks
I put it together and was thinking the entire time this is going to leak. It did not. It was easy to put together if you follow the instructions.

          Finally, a good one!!!
I just got it so I can't comment on longevity but this might be the best hose reel. I had the plastic Suncast reel in the past which was OK and great value but it did not have the storage capacity as this four wheel one. Also, the hose on that one would frequently jump and get stuck outside of the spool on the sides which was extremely frustrating and sometimes painful to untangle. The worst thing about that reel was it wouldn't wind when encountering any resistance from the hose. That doesn't happen with this one. This Hampton Bay 4-Wheel hose cart lets you crank it very hard and it works like butter! Truly, a joy to wind up! It's big but it blends into the background and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. It only took a half hour to assemble. Wheels are plastic and roll easily. They don't have a lock so don't put it on a hill without keeping that in mind. After you connect the hose, when winding it on the spool make sure not to kink the hose. It doesn't have a hose reel but you don't really need one. I don't use the green, short accompanying leader. I use a 20' matching black Craftsman rubber hose instead so I could place it exactly where I want, a longer distance from the spigot. The photo I shared shows about 150 feet of hose. This will be easy to roll inside for winter storage too. Great hose. Highly recommended.

This item is good to have if you have a lot of hoses
This is a review for the Hampton Bay 4-Wheel Hose Cart, Model # 840-HB, ordered from the Home Depot website on 7/31/20 and delivered on 8/5/20. This item was packaged well to avoid damage in shipment and arrived with all parts intact. It took a while to put it together. I had thought it would have pneumatic tires you fill with air (which I prefer), but the tires that came with this were hard plastic and seem to work ok. They rolled over some uneven ground with no real problem. The big problem came after I attached my hoses to it and turned the water on for the first time. There was a pin-hole in the galvanized tee and it was shooting out a spray of water. This was not something that had been damaged in shipping or by my assembly. That part was assembled at the factory before being packaged, and there was no evidence of damage during transit. After I turned off the water and dried off the galvanized tee, I used some epoxy (the kind where you mix contents of 2 tubes together) to cover over the hole and waited for it to dry. After 24 hours, I turned on the water and this time there was no leak. I don't know how long the epoxy patch will hold. Besides the defective tee, the cart works as it should. I had to take off a ratings point for the problem with the tee.

Absolutely worth the $! That said I just got this reel about a month ago & so it remains to be seem how it holds up over the years/weather... but immediately, I am so very pleased with my purchase. Easy to follow assembly instructions, winding hose after each use is a breeze and the cart is very sturdy. I think it will last likely 10 yrs or more so def. $100 well spent in my opinion!

            Worth the extra cost!
Started out with the Suncast hose cart and ended up returning it (see review). Broke down and forked out the extra cash for this one. Turns out that sometimes you do get what you pay for. Quality fittings, nice big wheels turn easily and its stance is wide enough to be stable. I read another review that feeder fitting is awkwardly pointing straight up. That works well if you follow the directions. I zip tied it to the frame and have zero problems with kinking. Great cart!

Putting the cart before the hor...err hose.
Pretty good cart... Helps students move the hose to the connection faucet instead of carrying. A bit wobbly and the handle is already bending but does the job.

I do not write many reviews (although I read and research many others). However, this product is so poorly made I felt the need to warn others prior to purchasing ANY Liberty products. I will preface this by saying I have a 15 year old Liberty product that held up very well - was outside the entire time. The new product lasted less than a year before it was covered in rust and the finish was flaking off. We leave the reel in the same place (no moving around to cause damage) and just use it to easily roll the hose up. When I contacted the company, they stated "Rusting is generally not covered under warranty". For an additional $1-2 they could have specified stainless steel nuts and bolts - impossible to tell at the time of purchase, but most intelligent consumers would expect and OUTDOOR product to made to prevent RUST - but NOT Liberty. I was told to "spray the unit to prevent further rusting" - so they want me to "spray" the nuts and bolts?!? How about just spend the extra $1 at manufacturing and use Stainless Steel nuts and bolts?! I would avoid this company in the near future - their values are driven by cheapened product materials to make "an extra buck" (literally!). Please see attached photos after just 6 months of ownership.

                Leaks Like A Sieve
Out of the box, the connection to the reel leaks. This was a pre-assembled part that was put together at the factory.

Positives: The order arrived sooner that expected and was packaged very well. It was very easy to assemble. Good color. Negatives: No basket for hose nozzle etc. The center of the reel is very small. It works well with thin 1/2" hose, but difficult to use with high quality 5/8 hose. The hose adaptor is 90 degrees from the hose reel so had to add a street-L and 45 hose fitting so that the hose would not kink (see attached picture). There is no brake, so when using on a hill it will roll away.

After reading all of the reviews I took a chance and purchased one. I made sure the tires were inflated when unpacking the parts. I noticed during the assembly that excessive Teflon tape was poorly installed on the brass and steel fittings and rubber seals were installed. During the tightening of these parts the rubber seals had a tendency to distort an were of no value. I elected to discard the steel "T" fitting and replace it with a brass "T" fitting which has a tighter interface, I also discarded all of the shoddy Teflon and replaced it as well. I did use one of the rubber seals along with the Teflon tape at the "T" to reel joint. I was able to make the system tight from most leakage. A few drips here and there but acceptable. I have as of yet to solve the kinking of the hose where it connects to the reel. I tried a 45Degree fitting and an anti-kink fitting, neither worked. Next option is to use a 90degree fitting. I did add a basket to the handle for nozzles and whatnot. I picked it up at Goodwill for a buck.

                    Best purchase ever.
This hose reel is heavy duty/durable and easy to use. We water every day and it is not a chore anymore.

Have only had it for a month or so, but it seems fine
It's well built. But only having had it for a month, it's too early to tell if it will rust or leak. I believe the warrenty on it was 5 years, or maybe more. It definitely seems solid though. Had to roll it down some big rocks, didn't flex at all. Assembly was easy, 15 minutes with a couple normal tools.

Junk, all tires had holes in the backing.
Junk, all the tires went flat in 1 year. Every one had holes in the backing. Every tire was defective. Taking back.

                      Bad Wheels
I have had this cart less than 6 months and the wheels are falling apart. I use it primarily indoors and it is stored indoors so it is not sun rot.

                        save your $ and worriess
I bought this less than 1 year ago, when I took it out of the basement this spring it was a wreck. Most of the paint came off the inside reel in large flakes/pieces (the part the hose rests on), many other areas had paint chips falling off, many other nuts/bolts were clumps of rust. I complained to Liberty Garden, at different points they said: 1) you could have applied a clear coat 2) that part does not look that bad, it could be sanded and painted, ... eventually they said they would replaced the center reel (the most expensive part) but not the whole unit. I brought this to the attention of my local Home Depot store/manager and immediately got a reply to return the unit for a full store credit. Thanks! But please reconsider carrying Liberty Garden products (actually anyone who treats your customers like this).

Its better than the plastic reels but the powder coated finish is poor.
I like the mobility of this hose cart. Having said that, I wish it came with no-flat wheels. There is also no brakes so you have to chock the wheels on unleveled surface or during high wind conditions. The worse part is the paint. I had to return the item twice because of paint chips (due to poor packaging from the manufacturer). I thought I was lucky on the third try but after only a month outside in the element, the paint on the reel (where the hose is coiled) started to lift and peel when the hose is unwind. This is probably due to the rubber hose and metal reel heating up by the sun and sticking to each other. The reel has started to rust (see photo). However, the cart is still better than most of the plastic resin hose reels from a functionality standpoint. This is no tendency to tip over or move when unwinding (b/c the wheels are perpendicular to the spin). The coiling and uncoiling is a lot smoother than the plastic reels that I have used in the past. I have come to the conclusion that there is no perfect hose reels, just some are worse than others. This cart, in spite of the problems, is one of the better ones so far. Lets see how long it will last.

                          Durable Product
It looks to be a strong hose cart, my only concern which I will know as the years go on is; will it rust. I wanted metal because it won't break like the plastic hose carts and the portability is very nice. It holds all of the hose I have, well over 100 feet and they are thick hoses, not the thin stuff. It stores nicely in the winter and it doesn't take much space in the garage.

                          Great Value
Assembly was simple and quickly done as the more potentially complicated parts were already pre-assembled - put frame together connect hose hookups assembly to frame and add wheels. No leaks were found and has been in service for about 2 months now. Have a 150 ft hose and reel-up is effortless.

I really liked the appearance of this product and it was not hard to assemble. However, when it came time to wrap the hose, it was very poor design. We could not get it to grab the roller, to roll it up and eventually had to return the item. Home Depot was great and I ended up buying an old fashioned hose wrap that was still decorative.

The cart is nice. It would be better if it were heavier. It’s difficult to wind up the hose when the cart is moving all around. Also the hose stub that came with it to connect to the hose bib split after the first use

Very well made and easy to move when full of hose.
I looked at many options for this purchase. This one was the best for the money and has held up very well. The key is to use a really good quality connector hose that is flexible at the reel hook up. It make a huge difference when using heavy duty hose that is stiff. Would buy again but that will be a while as this one should last. Tired of the plastic ones breaking every season.
