Customer Reviews for TRIMACO 3.17 ft. x 100 ft. FloorShell Heavy Duty Surface Protector

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are in the process of updating our home with new flooring. We put in new floors in the hallway last year and are now ready to do the bedrooms. So to protect our new hall floors we are using the Trimaco FloorShell. It is a nice snug fit between the walls, so it doesn't slide around and does a good job at protecting the flooring below. It is very sturdy with a nice thickness, yet we were still able to cut it with scissors, so as not to damage the flooring underneath with a cutting blade. And, it doesn't tear up when walking on it with our work boots.

DISCLOSURE: We received the “38” x 50’ Floorshell heavy-duty surface protection”, item # 12385, free from Home Depot’s “Seeds” program. Home Depot only asked that we provide an honest review. This is a roll of flexible, single-ply cardboard - about the thickness of one or two sheets of shirt cardboard. Hence it provides a LOT of protection for your floors, from scratches, gouges, impact (dropped tools), and liquids (to a degree). It is not waterproof but will absorb a lot of water or paint before soaking through. We covered the hardwood floors in our kitchen before having a dishwasher delivered, and it did an excellent job of protecting the floors. Water spilled on it during the installation, but it didn’t come close to getting through to the wood. After that we combined it with a top layer of “One Tuff Roll”, item# 90100, (by the same vendor, Trimaco) for full water resistance. Especially when your floors matter to you this gives you peace of mind and protects your investment. When we were done we rolled it back up and stored it for the next time we have work done. We also plan to use it as dropcloth when we next paint. We expect it will last several uses before wearing out. WHAT’S GOOD: - Heavy duty - Amazingly absorbent - Easy to cut with a razor knife - Reusable WHAT’S NOT: - There’s really nothing bad about the product. Just be aware that it’s a bit heavy to lug the whole roll around - May seem expensive, but how much are your beautiful hardwood or tile floors worth? SUMMARY: An excellent way to protect any floor surface from dirt, paint, spills, drops, work boots and other abuse. And since it has no adhesive it should be OK to leave it in place for extended periods without harming the floors. Highly recommended!

Great product to protect the floor

Was a thick flexible cardboard like material that protected my new hardwood floors as we moved in. Definitely recommend to anyone needing to protect flooring from damage.

I discovered that my pine floor finish in my new cabin needs to be applied when it is warm and low humidity, neither of which applies now in our wet winters. Wanting to move into my cabin without waiting four months, I've sanded the floors and covered them with this Floorshell by Trimaco. Wow, this seems strong enough to provide full protection. Per reviews by others, I cut it to length with the lettering up, and flipped it for the install to lettering down so it would start to lie flat. Then I taped the Floorshell seams with Trimaco's seam tape. I've left the outer perimeter (which is over tile) untaped, and it is heavy enough to stay in place. The fact that this is potentially re-usable is another plus.

The TRIMACO heavy duty floor protector is a great product. It provides great protection from all sorts of hazards - spills, dropped nails, screws, pieces of wood, tools. Did everything it’s supposed to do. Well worth the money.

Exactly what I needed...

Very good stuff. Only issue is it retains the curvature of the roll, have to tape it down, sometimes with multiple strips of tape.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found the Trimaco- FloorShell to be a great product. We were able to cover the floor with easy and no trouble. We were able to just measure the floor then unroll the FloorShell for easy measuring. The fact that it didn't curl up was a major plus. We loved the idea that it went down with no slippage as with plastic. Trimaco FloorShell is definitely a product we will be using a lot in the future for all our remodeling needs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are remodeling the entire house, and this floor shell is very thick and heavy duty and did a great job protecting our hardwood floors from scratches from the ladder and any spills of paint. It's a little hard to use since it comes in a giant roll and we had to tape the edges down because they wanted to curl up from being packaged rolled up, but a little tape fixed that.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to cut, but durable enough to protect from most dropped tools or accidental scrapes. Easy applicable on most/all surfaces. The material is a thinner cardboard that is semi repellent against water/liquid spills. Not just limited to flooring, I used it to protect my countertops while working on my cabinets.
