Tempered glass fail
A year after installation, the tempered glass at the door started to crack and shattered. No information except one sentence found on their site about warranty. Did not expect to pay a door at this price to only last a year. Need better quality control.

Perfect replacement for our old and tired screen door and it really does add security to that entrance. The on-line purchase was smooth and the curb-side pick-up was pleasant. The associate who brought to us was friendly, courteous, and helpful in loading the door into my truck. Installation was exactly as advertised.

Just had this screen installed 6/14/19. Screen is at best shabby, and door doesn't open wide enuff, returned opener but it didn't open any further, because of this we cannot step straight into the house. Door falls short of my expectations for the price. I would return but to much hassle.

Purchased this door because I had purchased a similar Grisham security door in the 1980's. That door was made in USA and this one is made in China, which was a disappointment. Overall, the installation was simple but frustrating due to the quality of the hardware materials. The printed instructions are number 8 type and just look like they tried to skimp on cost. Look at the install video and follow it rather than the printed instructions as there are discrepancies. I had to reverse the opening from left to right. Sounds simple and would have been if the top bolts and side screws were easy to remove. The bolts and screws must have been put in with a power driver. They were almost impossible to remove. They were soft metal phillips head which stripped easily no matter how careful you turn. An allen head (like Ikea uses) would have made so much sense. I had to use a chisel on one screw head and vice grips on a bolt. The closer is cheap and does not function well. I will look for a replacement. There is also an issue with the closer attachment point to the door. The attachment hardware moves slightly when the door opens and closes. I expect the screws to eventually loosen and will need some type of repair. This is a 2 hour job that took an extra hour because of the frozen screws. Overall, the door looks nice installed and generally functions in an acceptable manner. I would look around for another brand before I would purchase again.

I had problems.the hinge was bent, and the top bar of the frame was also bent. I spent a considerable amount of time attempting to straighten both pieces. Home depot didn't have any replacement in stock so I had to fix it seeing that I already ripped out the old door. It was not a fun project.

This door seems to be of really good quality - a heavy duty storm/security door. My contractors installed it, so I cannot speak to that part. The door itself is well made and makes me feel safer. Love being able to have a screened portion on this for air flow, so I can keep the main door open, the security door locked and still feel safe. I put a dual keyed deadbolt on for this purpose. Door looks great! There was one weld where one of the top bars meets the center that wasn't quite sealed with the white coating. My contractors instructed me to put clear nail polish over it.

This item was special order , delivered. It came pre damaged. There is a dent in the lower door , above sill , which was then painted over in the factory . So they know they are selling damaged goods. There is one bad weld , already rusting , several paint holes where the steel is showing . THESE ARE MADE IN CHINA ! I understood they were US manufactured having looked at the Grisham website. The order was about twenty days to my house delivered at about eighty bucks. These are easy to hang if you are good at carpentry . I laid in a sub frame ( Jambs ) to accommodate the door. Don't try this on your own unless you understand framing carpentry . I did not return it because I could not be bothered to wait another twenty days and argue with HD about who pays shipping for return of a damaged item. The doors look good installed . Two people , three hours to four including locks and pneumatic closer. I have two that are nearly thirty years old but better quality on the front of the house.

Really well made and comes with the glass inserts for up, down and middle, as well a a screen insert. We replaced an old rusted iron entry gate and like the idea that we can use all or any inserts. Easy install just had to make sure to plumb the entry...which is no problem for a pre-hung exterior door entry...... Hard to find this door in white and a great buy for the price.

The directions are simplistic and the ease of installation is awesome. I've installed other storm doors where you've needed an interpreter to figure out the directions. Being in the building industry for 25 years and have worked for various lumber yards and suppliers, this is the best security door bar none! Just installed ours and absolutely love it. The only con if I could come up with would be the white plastic guide brackets that are attached to the strike side Z-bar. There should be 2 pre-drilled holes and was only one per bracket which made the directions just a tad confusing. Just needed to pilot drill my own when I reversed the hinging. For $220 bucks at Home Depot, this door is heavy and solid plus it's very well constructed overall. Even the half screen which came with it was heavy! I added a prefab dark mahogany molding around the exterior of the frame to give the black door some contrast and it looks great. Very Very pleased with this product!!!

Great Looking door and since I had a hollow core inner door This Now provides the security I need as I age? I would recommend adding 1/4 or 1/2 inch trim (In Needed) so the door will fit Very tight!!! I wish I had got one of these for my other door instead of the Anderson with the sliding screen because this was about $75 cheaper and you can change the screen with the seasons. I Love the Look! If you leave the glass out when installing its a LOT lighter- Then put it back in.

I wanted to give this item a 5 but cannot. I will explain below. The instructions were concise but clear. Switching the hinge side was ingeniously simple. My wife loves the look (we went with white). I like the solidness of the door when it is closed and locked. Problem 1: It took 3 doors to get two installed: one on my daughters house and one on our house. All came with a bent top frame. The one pictured was the best of three. I was able to bend all three into a usable position so the problem was not critical. Problem 2: I returned the second door because, in addition to a bent top frame (the worst of the three), the paint was completely worn through along the edge of some of the packing styrofoam. It had begun to rust. I must say HD readily took the door back and ordered me another one. However, it took two weeks to get the replacement delaying my ability to complete the job. Both of these problems suggest that Grisham needs to revisit their packaging protocols and make some changes.

Not all Grisham doors available are picture on this website, you'll have to go in and they'll give you a brochure with many, many more to choose from. Choose wisely because it is considered a specialty order and cannot be returned. They returned mine because the installer said it was warped and didn't fit right. New one didn't fit too perfect either, the deadbolt only goes in about 1/4 inch! Beautiful door once it's in but not what I was expecting. Once you order it, it's yours!

Header cap was damaged, but still happy
This is a good looking / solid door (especially for the price.) Unfortunately, the header cap was really warped and it took 3 weeks for me to get a replacement from the manufacturer. Other than that, no complaints.

I LOVE THIS DOOR , BUT!
After my 36" x 80" 501 Series Storm Door was Installed by Home Depot and the Installer had left my House, I noticed that, there was no Trim Strip that matched up to where the spots Locks for my Kwikset Deadbolt and Entry Knob Locks to slide into. So, the installer had just left my locks resting against my original Wood Door Frame, which is not very effective when it comes to Security. I went back to home Depot and asked if the Door should have come with an 80" Trim Plates, that would line up to the section where the Locks would be installed? They didn't seem to know the answer. So, I said, was I supposed to buy my own Lock Plates for the Locks to slide into? They didn't seem to know that either. Home Depot told me to call the installer, but I haven's been able to get a hold of him yet. Can I buy a double Kickset Lockset Plate for the Locks to work properly?

                  Nice looking, sturdy doors
I purchased a new home. It had been recently renovated, but came without security doors. I ordered and had these installed through Home Depot, which took way longer than it needed to, and communication wasn't the best; HOWEVER, now that the doors are finally installed, they look great. Even better, I feel much safer in my new home now!

Will never close properly due to hinge screw interference
I like everything about the door except - the door will never soft close, the hinge screws hit the framework before the door closes all the way, you would have to adjust the door to slam close or always pull it closed. Most doors are made with recessed flush screws or the framework would have openings in it to prevent contact, the easiest way for the diy'er would be to drill holes in the framework where the screws contact it... but we shouldn't have to do that, my door is going back! I gave it a poor for quality because of this, attached is a photo of the hinge side framework, I have the hinge closed all the way you can see that if the door was parallel to the framework mounting surface the door would be pulling hard on the framework.

                    great door, excellent value
Great looking door. Very well built. We had it professionally installed as we had to have the entire frame redone. They were very quick and it looks great. I would recommend this door to a budget minded family with security in mind.

I have a 8 year old Grisham door, the quality of the new one is not near as good. Door closer is junk, compared to the 8 year old door. If your door opening is 81", the expansion bar at the bottom will be to short, you'll want to cut off the bottom of the frame at least a half inch so door will seal.

Purchased the door and had it installed. A few months after installation the door started slamming randomly (slammed on a family members hand). Adjusted the screw and it continued to happen. Followed up with the Company and they stated they’d send new closers but that didn’t happen. Closer doesn’t work properly - buyer beware.
