Best purchase
This has been the best purchase!! My son just loves this and splits logs with ease. The one thing was that the 4 way splitter did not work for us but very easy to take off. This is very heavy just make sure you have some strong guys to get it out of the crate when you put it together.

    Some assembly required
no where did it say that this splitter came in a crate and required detailed assembly and three very strong persons. the product is functioning very well. I had to pay for assembly and lifting

    I like this log splitter
I have now used this splitter for 2 weeks and it does the job. WHile it is marketed at a 30T splitter it is acutally rated at 28 Tons but that is insignificant. I am splitting dry maple and huge fir rounds with gmarly knots and I have the 4 way blade in. It slows the ram down but generally does the split regardless. The motor starts on the first pull and runs like a dream. On the down side, the brackets which hold the 4 way wedge into the main blade broke almost immediately due to the uneven pressure applied when the 4 way blade goes thru wood. SO I welded it into the main blade. The handle on the control valve could use a round knob rather that a plastic sheath that is hard on your palm. The splitter is difficult to lift into the vertical position because it is not well balanced, so I extend the ram out to the foot and this provides a bit better weight distribution so I can tip it up. It has real nice wings on it to rest the wood on but I always set a small table next to the splitter to set big chunks on so I don't have to pick them up twice. It is not real clear in the advertisment but the splitter comes with everything you need except a quart of oil for the motor. There is even a big jug or hydraulic oil. Assembly was straight forward and took about 4 hours, some parts are very heavy and require machinery or additional hands. The only assembly problem I ran into was finding the metal keyway stock which locks the pump coupling to he motor shaft. I looked in all the packets to no avail then went and bought a piece at the hardware store, only to find it alone in a plastic bag in the manual. Oh well. It is an excellent value for the money.

    Great Splitter
This splitter does its job just dandy. I am very pleased with my purchase. I split a cord of wood in no time at all, split through some really green knotty wood like butter. The hydraulic line from the reservoir is in a bad location, but a long zip tie fixed that so it wouldnt get caught on something while towing.

    Great splitter
Bought this splitter, got it in a week. assembly wasn't that hard, all parts were there, nothing broken. Came with hydraulic oil, after assembly got it fired up and got 2 cord of douglas fir and some oak split that were 2ft. across. Didn't stall a bit, I did take the 4-way off to split the larger pieces. Wish I had one these when I was a kid. Good product for the money...

    Great Log Splitter
I was very happy with my log splitter. It started up the first time and I was able to split large oak trees without any problems. I would recommend this product.

    Good product, poor assembly
Product seems to be working well, but the Home Depot didn't assemble it properly causing a hydraulic line to come disconnected and spray oil over me as I used it.

    I would highly recommend
First the bad. The only thing I didn't like was it was harder to assemble then I though it would be. Takes multiple tools and they could have done a better job assembling more parts at the factory. Buffalo tools isn't a super well known name, I have one of their generators and it runs like a top so I thought I would give this log splitter a shot. I'm trying to make this short as I'm busy right now but thought giving an opinion might help others considering this product. It is very heavy duty, I've split large logs with knots in them. Just use your head and don't over do it. But it does split large logs. BTW, I removed the 4 part splitter for this so there was less stress on the ram. This worked r eally well The engine pretty much starts on the first pull, even on the first try. The only time it hasn't is when I forgot to turn the fuel on. It's a little heavy to pull around so I spent $50.00 for a pulling dolly on E-bay. After using this product for awhile I get the impression that it's built to last. I was going to spend a bit less for a 22 ton but I'm glad I spent a bit more for a 30 ton. I don't usually do reviews but I think this product was worth it. Hope it helps. Oh ya, on the website it says the warranty is one year but it comes with a warranty card that says 60 days. It is one year, I called to make sure.

DO NOT BUY- Missing parts and stops working first day
Missing vented dip stick for hydraulic level on delivery. After getting assembled up and running. I moved into position to split first log. Went to pull the starter cord and it just spins. Nada. This hunk of junk will be getting returned on Monday. SO frustrating. I knew the price and size of this thing was too good to be true. Serves me right for being a cheap skate.

This is a very heavy duty splitter.
I've only used it one day so far, but I am very impressed. I took down several doug fir wolf trees, very full of big knots. This thing rips right through the knots, even using the four way splitter. Assembly is easy, but when they say the beam is "somewhat heavy", they mean it. That was the only part of the job I needed help on though. The description says the engine comes with oil, it does not. Also says hydraulic fluid is needed. It comes with 15 liters of oil, but it was not enough. It took about another gallon after purging the air from the system. Overall, I am satisfied with this unit, and getting a 30 ton unit for the price of a 20 makes me a very happy camper!
