It is not stainless steel, I repeat, it is not stainless steel.

Part not engineered correctly
The way that the hook is formed with a constant slope puts a large load on the locking mechanism and it will fail over time. Every other hook I have seen always has an S curve in it that takes the load, and the locking mechanism is there to make sure that when the hook is loose it will not fall out of the eye.
