Customer Reviews for SharkBite 3/4 in. Push-to-Connect Bronze EB-45 Direct Pressure Regulator Valve

I'm a homeowner who needed to replace a PRV. The connection of this part took maybe 5 minutes. It was insanely fast, very easy, and a whole lot cheaper than hiring a plumber. Make sure you deburr the pipe you're inserting into shark bite connectors. I deburred both the PEX and the copper. The whole house ground wire needs to make a good Earth connection, if this is your main PRV. The copper piece of this pipe is not the place to do that, as it has plastic inside the shark bite connection.

Installed it at a client house. Worked like a charm. I was in and out in 20 min.

pulled the trigger on this PRV over Watts PRV. I just did not want to sweat pipes in tight space. Sharkbite provided the ease of snapping everything together. Lastly, the icing on the cake were the pressure gaugues; hard to find but definitely needed to monitor pressure and life of the PRV.

Convenient installation. Cost was very reasonable. Only problem. Absolutely no instructions. No help at SharkBite's website. Does tightening bolt (clockwise) decrease or increase pressure? My experimentation revealed that loosening the bolt actually decreases pressure. Seems counter intuitive. The valve also came with a SharkBite removal tool. Use the SharkBite in lieu of a coupling joint! If it came with instructions it would have received 5 stars. Hey SharkBite, print instructions on the box, at no additional costs

I found this at my local HD. No issues installing, pressure regulating or with water hammer. I wish that I had seen the Sharkbite pressure gauge at the time I found this. I would have definitrly installed that at the same time. Because I don’t enjoy working on my knees in my crawlspace, I pre-assembled this valve with an automatic cutoff valve and a manual cutoff valve on a 2x4, before installing it in the most easily accessible place in my crawlspace with 3/4” Pex. This replaced the almost impossible to access cutoff valve in the corner of my crawlspace, a long run of corroded copper tubing, and added the first pressure regulator this house has ever had on its incoming water line.

NOTE: Buy a water pressure gauge when installing. They run $10 or so at HD and the 3/4 will hook up to a hose bib or wash machine input. The regulator installed super easy, along with 3 other sharkbite products. I needed a new one, and the water shut off leaked, so this project ended up being multiple fixes. Overall nothing leaked once installed (all sharkbite, a straight connector, shut off valve, 90 degree, water pressure regulator) however the water hammering was aweful, directly from the regulator. I grabbed a guage and the pressure was set around 30. 4 or so full turns later I had the pressure up to 55psi, and no more hammering. Overall I'd buy again, but don't trust that it's 45psi from the factory.

I bought this water pressure regulator because my curbside pressure is about 78psi according to town. I was experiencing some pipe rumble. The pressure regulator works as described. I experienced none of the issues described by other users. I am still currently dialing in the pressure that works best for me. Very easy install and very easy to adjust. Buy with confidence.

Easy install. Work as it should. Affordable. Be aware of pressure needed for your home/application. This has a 70psi max.

Easy to install and operate. No sweat, no leak! :)

First, the installation was as easy as you expect from a SharkBite product. I also installed a SharkBite pressure gauge behind this so I could easily read the pressure on the output side at any time. Both installed easily on my 3/4" CPVC with no problem. I do recommend buying the deburring (sp?) tool to smooth out the edges once you cut the pipe which can be found in section with all the SharkBite connectors and tools. Now, let me address the reviews about "water hammer". This really not the fault of this product. I see other people said they ripped these units out and bought "the right one". I have 120 psi coming in from the street and this is factory set to 45 psi on the output. I had some water hammer when I installed, but I adjusted my pressure up to 60 psi, which is more where I wanted it anyway, and the problem went away. If you still have water hammer after adjusting your pressure up to where you want yours to be, you may have to install a water hammer arrestor as well. Some of the other units mentioned in the not so good reviews as replacements may have those built in, so why throw away a perfectly good pressure reducer when all you have to do is increase your water pressure into the house a little to resolve and at worst, install an arrestor. Do a YouTube search on water hammer and you'll see what causes it and why it's really not the fault of this pressure reducer.

I'm a big fan of sharkbite's products. I used them when I remodeled my kitchen. I plan to us them when I remodel my bathroom. I was surprised to see HD stocking these Sharkbite Pressure Regulators. I was actually ready to purchase a Watts brand regulator before I stumbled upon this one. I read most of the reviews and I'll admit I was a little concerned to see reviewers complain about the hammering issue. Long story short, after I completed the regulator install and turned the water back on from the street. I also had the hammering problem. It was pretty bad and I was very concerned that all my work was for not. But I came back up the my computer and read a reply from Sharkbite Customer Support on one of the previous reviews. I followed exactly what they said and my hammering issue went away!!!!!!!! I had to increase the pressure if anyone is wondering. I can run all the faucets and the shower without noticing any lose in pressure. My old regulator was a complete mess, I dont think I was getting any more than 20psi from that crusty dinosaur! I'm very proud of my work. There wasnt much play in my copper pipes. I had to get creative thats for sure. Good luck to you all.

Installed easily and is working as expected

I needed this pressure regulator to solve a problem with the pipes banging when shutting off the water, mainly at the kitchen sink. It happened sometimes when shutting of the shower too. The guy at Home Depot said it's likely there's too much water pressure coming into the house so I would need to put this regulator on the incoming water line. I was kind of surprised how easy this plumping project was. I'm glad though that I had all the right tools, especially the mini pipe cutter. It's perfect for small spaces. The instructions are clear and easy to understand. They tell you exactly how much pipe you need to cut out and how to make sure the pipe is nice and clean before you slide the sharp bite connector on. I had to work in a very tight spot and I can't imagine having to use a soldering torch in this spot. The easy, slide-on connections are well worth the extra money.

By far the best construction of "Push-to-connect" 3/4 inch pressure regulators. The 1.13 inch connection points gave much more stability then simular products - at nearly the same price. When I replace the shut off valves I installed on either side of the regulator... Shark bite only! One last thing - I didn't have any trouble with noise or rattling after turning my water back on... Why? Because your company included Great directions, and online tutorials. You Rock Sharkbite!

I installed this into my main line (120 psi input) to replace an existing but aging regulator. Upon first turning water back on, experienced violent water hammering that would continue until the water was completely shut off. Everything from flushing toilet, irrigation solenoids, and shower caused hammering. Was only able to prevent hammering by barely opening main valve. Replaced with Zurn 600XL, SKU 245406 and had absolutely no problems since.

The wording on back of box shows PEX compatible so purchased item to reduce the 120 pound city water pressure down to a manageable level. Drove 45 minutes to job happy to get on with project. Then for some reason though to actually read instructions included in the box and there it was “ not to be used with PEX”. I called the customer service number confirmed that indeed product not pex compatible as stated on the back of box.

Super easy to install and didn’t even have one drip afterwards. Been installed for about 3 wks now and works great!

Longtime user of Shark Bite plumbing fittings. For homeowners who can do it, saves a lot of money over paying plumber for repairs, has a life expectancy of at least 25 years and is easy to install.

Does. It regulate water consistently. Severe water hammering let’s pressure build up in house causing other issues.

Over time (overnight) the pressure rose to the line pressure before the regular. Tech support was absolutely worthless. The tech that I spoke to had no idea how static pressure on a system even worked.

Have to return this item due to not being able to fit sch 40 3/4" pvc pipe

I bought one of these to lower my high water pressure to my home, it worked great, about a year abd a half later, my pressure was high again and water was leaking from the top adjustment screw area. I bought a replacement, same model...a year and a half later...same thing! High pressure and leaking from adjustment screw area. If you install one of these, be prepared to replace it after a year. I'll learn to solder pipe, i wont use another one of these!

Worked fantastic. So easy to install and worked great.

I had over 100psi of incoming water pressure that was causing load noises from my plumbing. This brought it down and fixed the problem. Typical Sharkbite easy installation.
