Everbilt 3-1/2 in. Stainless Steel Adjustable Staple Safety Hasp
Everbilt 3-1/2 in. Stainless Steel Adjustable Staple Safety Hasp is a very inexpensive sturdy hasp that can be used for a toolbox to shed doors. The hasp has no instructions but easy to install. The only thing that may improve the hasp and installation is to have nuts and bolts instead of half inch screws. Overall an excellent adjustable staple safety hasp.
I received this Hasp from Home Depot, first thing I tested was the Stainless Steel label. Good news a magnet did not stick to any part of the hinged portion, screws, or a fixed staple. The hasp is suitable for a variety of indoor and outdoor applications because of the Stainless Steel and it includes SS screws for easy installation. The hasp has beveled holes to ensure the screws or bolts will create a smooth surface to ensure the screw/bolt heads can be flush with the Stainless Steel on both sides the door. The hasp has a hinged metal fastener with a slotted end that fits over a separate fixed staple. The hinged portion has 3 holes which are covered when the hasp is closed. This 3 hole increases the stoutness of the hasp on of the hinged side. The hinged portion of the hasp contains mounting holes for the screws that are provided. The padlock locks the closed hasp by sliding through its shackle through the exposed staple, trapping the fastener (no padlock is provided in the packaging). The staple has a raised section to ensure there is a smooth back surface to mount against smooth surface. The fixed staple diameter is large enough for most locks. The length of the screws or bolts should be determined by the thickness of the wood it is being attached too. If you use a number 10 size screw the head may cause concern if it causes the screw heads to sit too high.
