Very well [pleased
After about 4 months of using this Honda lawnmower, I have been able to determine that this product is very well constructed and will even mow through a thick blanket of leaves with no trouble at all. It leaves behind a well distributed, much thinner layer of well mulched leaves. My old mowers of a different brand often times left a caked up mess of grass clippings that needed to be scraped from underneath the mower when I was done using it. This product has never given me this trouble. So far, absolutely nothing has stuck to the underside of this machine. I am very happy with this product all the way around.

Well built push mower with side discharge.
Started on the first pull out of the box. The engine is powerful, but much less noise than my old B & S. Overall, this is a very nice mower.

honda push mower
The mower is fine but it is not what I ordered. The one on the website is a different model. You may want to update your website. Unfortunately for me the model advertised by home Depot is no longer being sold by honda so I decided to keep the newer model even though I bought the one with the throttle control. It is quite enough that I can live with it. Having been through this experience with the home Depot website I probably will not order anything from you all again - but I like the local McAllen store. Excellent, first-class poduct!
In 50+ years of cutting grass, this is the finest lawnmower I have ever owned--quiet, powerful, extremely well built--all the essential for the regular lawn (I use mine on a one-acre lot).

    Well, the motor runs good
I was looking for a low frills, mulching mower that is not self propelled. This Honda seemed to be a good choice to replace my rusted out mower. I was impressed with the ease of engine start. After filling up with oil, I wanted to slowly pull the starter rope a few times to distribute the oil before I fired it up. Much to my surprise, the engine started on the first pull. Again, I was pulling very slow because I didn't want the engine to start right away. I am very disappointed with the quality of the cut. This has been a cool wet summer for us, and the grass is growing like crazy. I needed to put the deck almost all the way up because the grass was long. After taking a couple cuts, I noticed the grass was popping back up after I mowed it. The cut is very uneven, and it looks like I'm missing sections. It's very apparent that his mower does not like longer grass. It pushes the grass over, mows some of it, then much of the grass pops up behind you still uncut. I had much better luck when putting the side discharge chute on. When side discharging the grass, it cuts much smoother. The side chute does an excellent job of distributing the clippings so that you down get rows of cut grass clippings. The clippings are broadly discharged and the mower doesn't leave piles. I'm hoping that Mulching improves once the grass dries out a bit, and I'm cutting less length of grass. Just a side note, the grass I was cutting wasn't that long. Any mower should have easily been able to handle it without the grass springing back up behind you. I was also disappointed at the weight of the mower. For being a stripped down model, it sure is a lot heavier then any other push mower I owned. I'm hoping that the extra weight is due to heavy duty construction. I'll push the extra weight as long as the mower will last longer. This mower look exactly like the self propelled version, without the drive mechanism. Lastly, I chose the free "ship to home" option. Unfortunately, the delivery required a signature. UPS kept trying to deliver in the middle of the day when no one was home. I almost had to pick up the mower at the local UPS center, which is much farther away then my local Home Depot. Luckily, a helpful UPS driver made a list ditch attempt at the end of his route to deliver, and I just happen to be home. If I knew that a signature was required to deliver, I would have just had the mower shipped to my local Home Depot for pickup.

    Honda products are the best
I own Honda ATV'S so I decided to try a Honda push mower and you can't go wrong with a Honda. The mower is easy to operate and easy to start and comes with easy to understand instructions. I would recommend this product to anyone. Honda products are very reliable.

      well built push mower
I have a large, rough yard that takes me about 3 hours to mow. I find self propelled mowers to be slow and bothersome to maneuver around the many trees and other obstacles in my yard. Choice in mowers that are not self propelled is limited. Most are either cheaply made or are really designed to be self propelled but are sold with that feature missing which makes them heavy and hard to maneuver. While it is true this manual mower is also sold as a self propelled model, Honda has designed it so that it retains the lighter weight and maneuverability of a manual push mower. If you are a person who finds self propelled mowers annoying and limiting as I do, but you are willing to pay more to have a sturdier, more durable mower than is generally found in push mowers, I think this mower will be a good choice for you. It is difficult to draw many conclusions after just two mowings, but so far I have been pleased that the pull start requires very little effort. The engine has plenty of power for thick grass and the cut is good. It seems to use less fuel than I am used to. When I cleaned the underside of the deck after mowing, it looked to me like the blade is very sturdily mounted on a stout shaft and unlikely to bend when I hit obstacles which I inevitably do.

      Overall quality
I purchased a push mower because I wanted a push mower, and not a self-propelled. I use this mower as a trim mower around trees and obstacles, not to mow open areas. Also, I do not bag, so I wanted to eliminate that feature. Simply, I wanted a simple mower with fewer systems or items to break over time. The Honda push mower met my criteria, and the Honda engine is typical Honda quality. The mower starts easily on a single pull, runs smoothly and comparatively quietly. The quality of cut is good, height adjustment is better than on most competitors' models, and the mower pushes well up and around items for trim mowing. The throttle adjustment feels cheap, particularly for choking the engine, and I anticipate it breaking before anything else on the mower fails. Overall, this mower fits my needs quite well, and I would purchase the same model again. I do wish the throttle was built to the same quality as the rest of the machine.

On first use, worthy of its reputation.
Although I have used this mower only once, I can say that it appears to be a high-quality product. As promised, it started on the first pull, pushed easily around my somewhat rolling and uneven yard. The manual is clear and explicit. No problems so far.

      Good basic lawn mower!
Delivery by Home Depot was quick! This mower is not available in most HD stores. The mower is well designed and made. I like the way the fasteners that lock the handle bars employ thumbscrews. Most mowers I saw at stores require wrench to turn screws that lock the handle. Looks like it will be easy to drain the oil when the time comes at end of the season. There aren't any fancy mechanisms to adjust wheel height just something to break. Good instructions. Mower started right up after filling with oil and gas. Mower runs quieter than my old Murray and seems to get better gas mileage. I have small yard. It takes me less than 30 mins to mow it so this mower is going to have it easy. I like mulching blades. No grass clippings t deal with. I've only mowed the gras 4 times so this an early report. Time will tell.

Solid mower with minimal bells and whistles
I was looking for a mower with minimal features; something simple yet solid that would last me a long time. This mower seemed to be the obvious choice. While I have only had it for about a month and mowed with it only a few times, it has started on the first pull every time, runs really smooth and cuts the grass well. I have only used the mulch setting so far and that works great. This mower also seems to be pretty efficient with fuel. I can cut my decent sized yard twice on one tank of gas. I do think $350 was a bit much... but everyone says to buy Honda and that it will last you forever. So I'm sure in a couple years when this thing is still running like the day I bought it the $350 won't seem so bad. If you're looking for a great, simple mower, this is your guy.

Used only once, but best ever
Disclaimer - new, used only once. Wanted a basic but well-built mower and this is it. Bought it based on standard characteristics: all-steel chassis, mulching capability, non self-propelled, idle setting, Honda name. (Would've liked option of bag.) This review would be more valuable had mower been used more, nevertheless in the one use it could not have been better. Started first pull, ran smooth, cut best in mulch-mode of any mower I've had. Fyi, noticed some other reviewers consider this mower "heavy" but I find it the lightest and most maneuverable I've ever used. Based on what little I've seen so far I expect this mower will last many years.

      Honda quality in decline
I wish the Honda mower line was engineered and built in Japan. The overall quality of this Honda mower is just average. Due to a design flaw in a snap ring holding the right rear wheel assembly to the mower deck, would loosen and the spindle would back itself out of the mower deck, lowering the mow height. This was a mower fresh out of the box from HD. What happened to Honda Power Products quality control?

      Honda push mower is great
Ordered online, wasn't supposed to be here for about 10 days, but arrived in two. Pretty much ready to go out of the box. Started right away and no problems at all. The quality is great, I like having the adjustable speed control. Last mower just ran at one speed all the time. If I could of, I would give it a 4 1/2 stars as not too much is perfect, and only used it three times. No complaints at all. If I had to nitpick something, it is that the side discharge chute comes off easily if you bump into a fence or something. But it also attaches easily.

Positive - Good engine, separate throttle control, quality is good. Negative - too heavy, price is high for simple push mower
It was very hard to find a simple push mower I could use for trimming and without all of heavy add-on features that are typical for the yuppie subdivision mowers. The bare bones lighter weight mowers at the stores were of the lowest quality and least durable. I found this Honda mower that was only available online. The engine starts and runs great and has plenty of power. The mower is still heavier than my old mower and heavier than I like for a simple trimming mower, but that is a negotiable feature I am living with. The only feature that I don't like is the blade. ALL mower manufacturers now seem to think push mowers have to be a mulching unit. I had to get an aftermarket brand blade to make the mower suck the grass up and cut it off. The so called hybrid do all blade that came with the mower would let leaves and such stay on the ground and not suck, cut, and discharge very well. This is not just the Honda mower. Seems like all of them are like this now. I am sure it has something to do with lawyers being involved. After all is said and done, this overpriced simple push mower is of good quality once I made my own modifications to perform as I wanted. It was about the only choice I had.

      Solid mower
Quality built mower always starts on first pull. At first I misunderstood where the choke position was after reviewing instructions for the correct choke position, it started right up each send every time on first pull. Use it 5 x and I love the mower.

        Seems to be well built.
Mower seems to be very well built. I've only mowed three times with it, but it's been easy to start and plenty of power. I mulch-mow, it's done a great job turning the grass to very fine fibers. It has variable motor speed control, which makes it very efficient with fuel; in thin areas, I can reduce the motor speed. The only possible negative comment I'd have is that it's a heavier mower than any push mower I've owned; but this is possibly the price to pay for it's durabilty/sturdiness (I hope).

        Started right up
This is second Honda mower I have purchased, the first one ten years ago. I supposedly bought the same one. Very pleased with the first, the engine never let me down, but the wheels did fall off. Too early to tell yet, but so far, good

        Carb problems
After having owned and ridden Honda motorcycles for 45 years and never having a problem with any of them, I figured I'd get a Honda lawn mower and get the same results. Guess I was wrong. The carberator on this lawn mower frequently fouls up and that's using fresh quality gasoline. I've probably used it only 35-40 times at most. Wish I had bought another brand.

Basic quality lawn mower for small areas that are flat
Very quiet one speed. Solid build. Starts one pull. Very new to me, so not a lot of hours to really rate. Not easy to move around, so I would not recommend for hilly areas.
