Got this engine hoist to remove a 396 BBC engine and it worked great. It folds nicely too to store it.

Once the mid wheels at the fold are put on, the bottom leg holes do not match up, making it impossible to complete the assembly. The wheels either have to be welded on the bottom of the leg or have the holes re-drilled. The company customer support is NONEXISTANT!! Will send it back if they do not get in touch with me ASAP!

it is an excellent unit for the price. it has served me well in the couple of things i have used it for. i lifted a 3x4 foot granite surface plate onto my toolbox without any issues. also loaded a small surface grinder onto a small trailer. both weighing around 500lbs each. very happy with it

Product is very under engineered metal is very thin was missing quite a few bolts washers and nuts .packaging was terrible scratches and dents from shipping and 6 different places where the powder coat was rubbed thru or off. For the price it's a sub par product .

Well worth the the money I would definitely buy again if I needed one!!

Could not get the hydraulic jack to work even after I purged the air and put fluid in it. Returned it to Home Depot. Home depot as always was great.

Instructions were super easy to follow. Haven't used it yet, but soon

Was easy to assemble and seems to be sturdy

Easy assembly, except the bolt holes for the long stabilizing bars are about 1/8" too high, so that you have to lift the jack a bit to get the bars to align with the bolt holes (-1 star). Otherwise, is working great - lifted a 600# car body off the frame today, no sweat. Good quality for the money, nice having the load leveler included.

Excellent product and easy to use by yourself.

2 wheels missing.side braces won't match up to bolt.tried 5 times to contact complaint dept.

Screws nut and bolts and washers were missing for the wheels and I couldn't assemble it. I called the phone number provided and no got back with me.

This hoist is very nice. The assembly instructions are lacking. They were clearly written by someone who did not try to actually assembly the hoist. Two time saving tips:1. When installing the caster be sure the smaller ones are on the stabilizing arms and not the body.2. When installing the support brackets, that hold the stabilizer legs in the stowed position, insert the pin to line them up when tightening the fasteners and pull it as far forward as they will go. Otherwise the handle will be in the way.So far I have used it to lift a 500 lbs machine and will be using it on a 1800 lbs one later one. So far, no issues. It works smooth and is really easy to handle.

The hoist works well. It was not hard to assemble and all parts were there. Some of the holes on the folding legs were not perfect but i was able to get it assembled with some maneuvering (no drilling). Overall I am satisfied with the product. I am disappointed in that it took well over a month to get it from HD.com when it was supposed to deliver in a little over a week and there was no way to discuss the order with anyone to get an estimated delivery date after it was delayed. I would call the general, customer service number and just sit on hold…

I have wanted one of these for several years, so when my daughter blew the engine in the old Trailblazer (it had approximately 225K on it) I knew the time had come. I have used it to pull the 4.2 six out. It performed very well making it possible for me to do this engine swap solo.I am a little disappointed the finish could be better and a rubber handle on the jack handle would be appreciated. It's a good tool, but a couple small improvements could make it great.

worked ok needs a wider base at the opening to allow for the lift to straddle an engine crate so engine can be lifted directly in and out of shipping crate. would also allow straddle of engine stand for mounting. Current design prevents both of these

Overall I’m satisfied with this purchase. Only thing is that it came with the side support straps attachment holes in the wrong place, neither end would line up. I contacted the Big Red via email, it’s been 2 weeks with no reply. I enlarged the holes and installed the straps.

Great quality for the price, functions as designed and folds up compactly for convenient storage.

Overall I believe the Big Red is of good quality. However, the two supports that goes from the vertical upright to the base was did not fit. The holes are misaligned by 3/8." I had to oblong out the hole on the two supports where they mount to the base towards the end of both supports to get them to fit. I used a dremmel tool barrel sanding disk (actually took about 6 of them) to extend the hole. If it was not for this problem I would have rated it higher. I paid a premium for this product thinking it would be better than others. Don't know if that was wise now.

WOW!! I've pulled lots of engines in my years as a mechanic. This hoist with the load leveler made pulling an older Mercedes diesel block and transmission super easy (well the pulling part anyway). I started with the leveler cranked toward the rear to lift the engine/tranny level. Then as I pulled it forward I cranked the leveler forward to lift the front up over the body and then cranked it back to level it again and pull it away from the car put it on the floor. Easy peasy, as they say.The only con was the front is wide and I had to put pieces or 2x6 under the front tires so it would clear the lower control arms. 100 percent happy with this hoist and leveler.

Excellent quality , the load leveler is just the right addition to avoid buying extra chains for the lift . Will outlast me .

Good buy, especially when on sale. Works fine for occasional use but I wouldn't use it every day.As others have pointed out, the bolts come in a single box and the instructions don't have a diagram of the different bolt types and where they go. After several false starts, we stopped assembly and laid out all the pieces and bolts and then spent 10 minutes swapping bolts around until we found the correct placement.
